Every day in the U.S.A., 3 children will die from child abuse, 9 children will be murdered, 27 will die from poverty.
30 will be wounded by a gun. 101 babies will die before their first birthday. 202 children will be arrested for drug
offenses. 307 children will be arrested for crimes of violence. 340 will be arrested for drinking or drunk driving.
1,115 teenagers will have an abortion. 1,340 teenagers will have a baby. 2,255 teenagers
will drop out of school. 5,703 teenagers will be a victim of a violent crime. 7,945
homeless will be reported as being abused or neglected. 100,000 young people will be
homeless. 1,200,000 latchkey young people will arrive home alone where there are
guns. 35 out of every 100 students are affiliated with or belong to a gang. So what can
we do? We can bring hope! For every bad side, there is a good side, and that is where
Radical Reality comes in...

changing message of hope! Topics such as drugs and alcohol, peer pressure, bullying,
self esteem, and self Image have captivated audiences in 49 of 50 states in the US alone.

dynamic presentation like no other! The Feats of Strength grab the attention of the
crowd; the life changing stories grab their hearts!

Saturday evening, November 2nd at the
Merced County Fairgrounds Pavilion.
The media continues to be intensely interested in Abby’s story as well as
her continued efforts to advocate for the unborn and help clinic workers
escape the abortion industry. She is a frequently requested guest on Fox
News and a variety of other shows and the author of the nationally
best-selling book, Unplanned, which chronicles both her experiences
within Planned Parenthood and her dramatic exit.

Silver Ring Thing’s mission is to create a culture shift in America
where abstinence becomes the norm instead of the exception.
They partner with local communities to put on transformational events that
inspire, educate and support young people to embrace a Christ centered
lifestyle of sexual abstinence until marriage.
Silver Ring Thing rolled into town this spring and had a tremendous impact
in our community. Fifteen college aged students put together an amazing two
hour stage show with videos, drama and personal testimonies of God’s grace,
dating, waiting and second chances. There was even a parent component to
encourage parents and leaders with tools empowering them to continue the
dialog with their students about these sensitive subjects long after the show is
over.
We welcomed the team back to Merced but Silver Ring Thing made their
debut in Los Banos!
The impact for God’s Kingdom in our county is evident and although the
numbers are impressive, they don’t even begin to tell the whole story of how
God will use this to make a difference our community!

Meet Kathy our new nurse manager!
Kathy comes to Alpha with many years of nursing experience.
God began working on her heart for Alpha when she talked
with her sister about serving at the center as a volunteer nurse.
Her sister has been part of the Alpha volunteer family for
several years. Kathy soaked in the stories and testimonies of
God’s miracles that take place in the ultrasound room.
Statistics show that about 80% of moms and dads choose life
for their baby when they are able to
see the ultrasound images.
Kathy felt drawn to what she heard
and decided that she would like to be
part of what God is doing at Alpha and she too became a trained nursing
volunteer. Kathy thought that her retirement would be filled with leisure
time and grandchildren. Little did she know that God had other plans. The
grandchildren are still a priority, but God added more than that to her plate!
It wasn’t long before she sensed that God was calling her to more than
volunteering. He was calling her to work in ministry!
The short time that she has been on staff has already exceeded her expectations! She has witnessed
several decisions for life as moms and dads are able to see their unborn baby on the ultrasound
screen. She has also had the opportunity to pray with someone to accept the gift of eternal life by
accepting Jesus. And there have been three sets of twins discovered with ultrasound. Yes, three sets
of twins! And God, no doubt has so much more in store in the season ahead!

These are our sisters, mothers, wives and friends. Many struggle for years
with repressed memories, guilt, shame and depression feeling they are not
allowed to talk about their abortion experience.

When I consider the phrase “labor of love,” I first think of my children. Raising kids is no
easy task. Sometimes difficult, often challenging, yet always rewarding, the little people
in my life are indeed a labor of love. I am also reminded of other important
relationships and the effort exerted maintaining them. Relationships are complicated
because people are hopelessly flawed, but scripture promises that “Love covers a
multitude of sins,” (1 Peter 4:8). When the labor seems to overshadow the love, we have
to take a step back to see the bigger picture, one that reveals the Lord’s plan. The truth
is that “we love because Christ first loved us,” (1 John 4:19).
The Labor of Love Run/Walk celebrates the work being done at Alpha. Each day we see
clients who need to know the love of Christ, people who might be scared of the physical, emotional, and
spiritual realities of bringing a child into this world. On Monday, September 2nd 2013, we will come together at
Rahilly Park for an exciting race and community walk to demonstrate our commitment to the work of family
and faith. “On Your Mark” timing company will join us for the second year to time the runners. Walkers will
not be timed and may participate without a registration fee. First, second, and third placed runners will receive
a medal in each division and prizes will be awarded to the overall men and women champions of the 5K and
10K. Runners can register on active.com or go to alphaphc.com to print and mail a paper form. Walkers may
collect pledges until the day of the race.
