I can’t believe that we are already at the end of June. However, we have had a good and busy month for the sake of Christ. We are also thankful that several mission efforts have been realized and accomplished. With that in mind, please keep my parents in your prayers as they are in Africa. Dad contacted me the other day and said that the seminar in Zambia was going well. He said they had a record number of returning graduates and that it was always exciting to hear about all of their good works and how they are doing since graduation. We are so blessed to be a part of such a great work of God in Zambia, as well as Uganda and Ghana. I know that God will continue to bless these good works for Him, as we do all we can to accomplish His Perfect Will. I have really been getting excited about many of the plans going on in Africa recently. This Friday, brother Samson Omutele will be traveling from Kenya to Ghana to help teach in our school there. Also, brother Samuel Opoku and Patrick Danquah will be returning to Zambia to continue training at the Zambia school. You might remember that these good brothers are being trained with hopes that one will be able to assist us with the work in Ghana as a teacher after graduation. May God continue to bless all of these men and our many workers and students in Africa. They are doing such a great job and we are so proud of all their good work. Brethren, we have many of our own who continue to struggle with health issues and recovery from surgeries and procedures. Please remember in your daily prayers brother Harry, sister Mildred, and sister Marge. They all need our prayers and encouragement that they may recover from their physical trials. There are many others on our prayer list who are dealing with issues as well. Please keep them all in your prayers. Well, I look forward to our gathering this evening for our mid-week service. I hope to see you all there. Please remember that the Lord’s day is a special day for Christians and I know we will all want to be present and properly prepared to give God our very best. May God bless us all as we labor faithfully in His vineyard. *Ray Sullins* THE LIVING WORD PROGRAM SUNDAY MORNING AT: 7:30 A.M. ELDER’S CORNER:

Hope everyone is having a good week

thus far.

Sunday was a good day as always

having a good bible study and two great

sermons by brother Ray.

We had all four agape groups gathered

together for good food and fellowship. The

turnout was good.

Brother K.C. was back from his stay

in Nevada. He came forward in the morning

service wanting prayers and to place

membership again. Please make brother

K.C. to feel comfortable.

Keep Jerry & Edith in your everyday

prayers. Also, keep all our members that

are having health problems before the

throne of God.

We are looking forward to our annual

VBS. It will be starting August 6th and

running for 4 days. Please plan on attending

every session. Classes are for children to

Adults.

See you on Sunday, Lord willing.

Always remember to silence our phones

before service.

Gary & Jerry

Happy Birthday, to Rachel Sullins!

RESPONSE: Sunday – K.C. Hamerick

K.C. has moved back to Springfield and is living

with his sister. He wants to be a part of this

congregation again, and came forward stating so.

INDEPENDENCE DAY

The date July 4th holds special significance to our nation. It marks the date, in 1776, on which the founding fathers signed the Declaration Of Independence, declaring our independence from England and our determination to be a free and sovereign nation. Accordingly, we celebrate July 4th as Independence Day.

There is a far more important Independence Day, however, than that celebrated each year on July 4th. When a person learns the truth of the gospel of Christ, and in obedience turns to Him as his Lord and Savior, he is set free from the guilt and condemnation of his sin (John 8:32). As he repents of his sins and is baptized into Christ (Romans 6:3), the blood shed by our Lord on the cross cleanses that soul of the guilt of his sins (Acts 22:16). He is literally set free!

A person set free from sin “is a new creation” (2 Corinthians 5:17), a Christian. In becoming a Christian, that person is “delivered…from the power of darkness and conveyed…into the kingdom of the Son of His love” (Colossians 1:13), in other words, the kingdom of God. The Revised Standard Version translates “the power of darkness” as “the dominion of darkness.” The devil is the ruler of that dominion (2 Peter 2:4).

A person who lives in sin is a slave of the devil (Romans 6:16). But when a person is baptized into Christ, he is set free from the slavery of sin (Romans 6:6-7). In Being set free, he has gained his independence from the most cruel, ruthless, bloodthirsty tyrant there is. He no longer lives under sin’s curse. As long as he stays faithful to God, he can look forward with assurance to eternal salvation (Romans 6:22; Revelation 2:10).

The most incredible Independence Day is the day a person is baptized for the remission of his sins (Acts 2:38), the day he enters into salvation in Christ (Romans 8:1), the day he is set free from sin, the day he comes out from under the tyrannical rule of the devil. Oh, what an Independence Day! Have you experienced that independence day in your life???
