Children’s Liturgy: During the 8:30 AM Sunday Mass, September through June.
SACRAMENTSSacrament of Penance - In the Chapel on Saturdays from 4:00-4:30 PM, or by appointment.
Sacrament of Baptism - Congratulations! In co-operation with God’s creative love, you have given your child breath and now you wish to give them Real Life through the sacrament of Baptism. You will be your child’s first teacher in the ways of the Faith. To help you prepare for this responsibility, you are expected to participate in a Baptismal Preparation Class.
Pre-Jordan Baptismal Preparation Classes are held on the 4th Tuesday of each month at 7:30 PM in the school —Prior registration required.
Baptisms are the 1st and 3rd Sundays of the month by prior arrangement. Please contact our Director of Religious Education.
Sacrament of Anointing of the Sick - Please notify the Parish Of-fice when a relative is sick or hospitalized. The sacraments of Pen-ance, Eucharist and Anointing of the Sick are a joy and privilege to administer. If you know you are going to the hospital for surgery, please notify Fr. Gary and he will be glad to Anoint you after Mass.
Sacrament of Marriage - The love between a husband and wife im-ages for us the love of Christ and his church. What a powerful and awesome thing is the call to the sacrament of Marriage! To assist couples to enter this sacrament, the Archdiocese of Philadelphia requires at least six months of formation prior to the reception of the sacrament. Please call the Parish Office to make an appointment to see Fr. Gary to begin your sacramental preparation. Congratula-tions for responding to God’s call to Love.
Sacrament of Holy Orders - Jesus said that we are to pray to the Lord of the harvest, that workers will be sent at harvest time. The best way to promote vocations to the diaconate and priesthood is to invite those men whom you would consider would make a good priest or deacon. If you feel the Lord might be asking you to be a priest or deacon, Fr. Gary will always be available to answer your questions and give direction.

Jesus’ devout Jewish audience may have heard to-day’s parable quite differently from the way we do. For one thing, they probably had scant sympathy for a trav-eler foolish enough to brave the barren, crime-ridden road from Jerusalem to Jericho alone. And they likely sympathized with the priest and the Levite, who, hur-rying to fulfill assigned temple service (and earn their living!) avoided the ritual impurity they would have incurred from contact with what looked like a corpse. Jesus’ choice of hero surely scandalized, for Samaritans were religious apostates and political enemies.
What a challenge for them! Jesus portrays God as being present not only in the beauty of the temple, but in a stranger who made a foolish choice when planning his journey; and in the Samaritan, who, being outside the Law, acted not from religious obligation, but out of the goodness of his heart.
And a challenge even for us. Since Christ has be-come our own personal Good Samaritan, who are we to ration our compassion? Indeed, each of us is that travel-er on the road, and Jesus, in his incarnation, has come to rescue us with love unbounded and unconditional. Instead of “Who is my neighbor?” disciples should ask, “To whom can I become a neighbor?” Jesus replies, “To the next person you see who needs hands-on, practical charity, however unworthy you judge that person to be, however ungrateful that person may eventually prove to be.” After all, Jesus made the whole world his neighbor. Now he commands his disciples, “Go and do likewise.”
Question of the WeekWhen was the last time I saw someone in need and
passed on by, or stopped to help, and what made the difference in my choice?

By: Mrs. Mary CroninFour weeks have passed since the school year
ended, and we are busy getting things done for September. Even though we are not making as many changes
to our school building as we did last year, there are still changes go-ing on. This summer, thirty new computers will be installed in the computer lab, a Promethean Board will be hung in the Kindergarten, and new cabinetry and a mural have been placed in the science lab. Additionally, the school will get a new heater, and we expect to have new flooring in the older wing of the building.
The office hours are limited during the summer, but either Mrs. Miller is and/ or I am there from 8:30 AM to 2:00 PM each day. Please call 610-933-2453 if you have any questions to discuss with either one of us. We’d love to give you a tour!

Music Ministry News Mib CampbellHyMN OF THE MONTH
Lord, you Give the Great CommissionTune: Abbot’s Leigh
Composer: Rev. Cyril Vincent Taylor Author: Jeffery W. Rowthorn
Lord, You give the great commission: “Heal the sick and preach the Word.”Lest the Church neglect its mission, and the Gospel go unheard,
Help us witness to Your purpose with renewed integrity,With the Spirit’s gifts empower us for the work of ministry.
This hymn comes up quite often in our liturgical music guides, and has a message that speaks through eloquent poetry about dis-cipleship. Some hymnals place it in the Ascension or Pentecost sec-tion, while others feature it under Mission, Discipleship, or even Ordination.
Lord, You call us to Your service: “In My Name baptize and teach.”That the world may trust Your promise, life abundant meant for each,
Give us all new fervor, draw us closer in community. With the Spirit’s gifts empower us for the work of ministry.
The text was commissioned by the Yale Divinity School for the 1978 graduates and was first heard at their baccalaureate service. Jeffrey Rowthorn, born 1934 in Wales, served in the Royal Navy and then studied languages at Cambridge University (BA and MA). He then moved to New York and earned his M. Div. at Union Theologi-cal Seminary, where he became dean of instruction and chaplain in 1968. In 1973 he became a founding member of the Yale University Institute on Sacred Music. In 1987 he was elected Bishop Suffragan of the Episcopal Diocese of Connecticut, and subsequently appoint-ed Bishop in Charge of the Convocation of American Episcopal Churches in Europe, with an office at the American Cathedral in Paris, a position that he held until retiring in 2001.
Composer Cyril Vincent Taylor (1907-1991) was born in Wigan, England, the son of a church of England priest. He went on to study as Christ Church, Oxford, was also ordained in the Church of Eng-land, and eventually became Precentor of Bristol and later Salisbury Cathedral. He served as chaplain at the Royal School of Church Music from 1953-1969.
The music for our hymn was named for the English village in which Taylor composed it in 1941. Abbots Leigh was where the headquarters for the religious broadcasting division of the BBC was located during WWII, and where Taylor served as the producer. This tune is thought to be his best and is paired with other texts as well, including ‘God is Here,’ (text by Fred Pratt Green,) and as an alternate tune for ‘Glorious Things of Thee Are Spoken.’
Lord, you bless with words assuring: “I am with you to the end.”Faith and hope and love restoring, may we serve as you intend
And, amid the cares that claim us, hold in mind eternity. With the Spirit’s gifts empower us for the work of ministry.
