2014-2015 CAC31 Highlights:
Back to School August 2014 we participated in McMinnville and Van Buren County students back to school
celebrations. 325 children were provided with child abuse prevention information and much needed school
supplies in preparation of the new school year.
7th Annual Angels Autumn Fest:
The 7th Annual Angels Autumn Fest on September 19, 2014 was delightfully well received. Brenda and Gary
Martin opened their beautifully restored rustic barn at Deer Path Farms to 150 CAC31 Community Partners.
Guests dined in beautiful serenity on a scrumptious 3-course dinner catered by the Davis family. Thunder
Creek had the group on their feet rocking the night away. District Attorney General Lisa Zavogiannis spoke
about Cheyenne Delp. The evening was capped off with intense competition over the great many offerings in
our Silent Auction. Just over $18,800 was raised to maintain daily operation of our center.
Stewards of Children:
Stewards of Children is the only nationally distributed, evidence-based program proven to increase
knowledge, improve attitudes, and change protective behaviors. This training helps shift societal perspective
on child sexual abuse and makes prevention a part of our culture. We have successfully educated almost 400
adults to date. We have commitments from several other organizations to participate in Stewards of Children
seminars during the upcoming fiscal year.
April 2015 Child Abuse Awareness Campaign:
Field of Flags: The City of McMinnville and McMinnville Evening
Exchange Club teamed up to recognize the children directly
touched by severe child abuse in Warren and Van Buren
Counties last year. The grassy park on Main Street was
transformed into a beautiful field of American Flags during the
month of April.
Mayoral Proclamations: McMinnville Mayor as well as Spencer
and Van Buren County Mayors teamed up to issue a joint
Proclamation that declared April 2015 as Child Abuse Prevention
Month.
Pinwheel Trees: A majestic tree of pinwheels was predominately displayed in Three Star Mall, McMinnville
and Burrett Memorial Library, Spencer during April to signify children directly touched by severe child abuse in
Warren and Van Buren Counties.
Shirts to Stop Hurts Campaign: We adopted this years’ shirt from the National Children’s Alliance
campaign. These cheery royal blue t-shirts prominently feature a white butterfly with the script “I Believe
Child Abuse is a Grown-Up Problem” were well received and proudly worn each Friday to boost awareness for
the campaign.

Baker Mountain Farm – 3rd Annual Celebration of Youth: The Warner family graciously opened their Van
Buren County farm on April 11th to boost child abuse prevention awareness. Children of all ages were invited
for a massive egg hunt, wholesome farm festivities and other goodies and activities provided by several great
community organizations and political candidates. Attendance was estimated around 350. Thank you to our
financial contributors: Baker Mountain Farm, Best Disposal Service, Caney Fork Electric, Citizens Tri-County
Bank, Walmart Sparta and everyone who made this great day reality.
School Education Programs:
You Have Power: 5500 Pre-K through 8th Grade students at each school in Warren County and in Van Buren
were delightfully entertained during these 30-minute assembly presentations. We impart basic right to safety
knowledge and where to turn if child abuse occurs. This year’s program was created & performed by
Chattanooga Kids on the Block with assistance from District Attorney Lisa Zavogiannis and Robin Cutrell.
It’s OK to Tell: CAC31 Prevention Specialist, Robin Cutrell spent 1-hour in every 5th Grade classroom in
both counties. Over 500 students were further educated to better understand abuse, empowered to stand up
for themselves and what to do if they or someone they know
becomes a victim of child abuse.
My Body Belongs to Me: Warren and Van Buren County
School Districts authorized a program to educate all parents
of registered Pre-K students in child abuse prevention. 286
adults were shown a brief cartoon video clip depicting a
child’s disclosure of sexual abuse and how to appropriately
react. They were further armed with information on signs of
abuse, how to react, and where to report. Parents were
encouraged to start teaching their children about private
body parts now and continue with age appropriate personal
safety conversations in the future.
Sexting Seriously Risky: Our newest program was
designed to reach middle school and freshmen students.
Robin Cutrell, CAC31 Prevention Specialist and Warren County Sheriff Investigator, Jason Rowland created
this presentation to educate young people on the long-term ramifications of sexting. 150 members of the
freshman health class at Warren County High were the first recipients of this seminar.
We extend our deepest gratitude to the employees of Jarden Consumer Solutions
for acknowledging the importance of educating our community about child abuse
prevention and to JCS Community Fund for underwriting the costs of our Community
Outreach and Education Program.

Kids Funfest and Safety Day - April 25, 2015
This event is a collaboration of the City of McMinnville CAC31, Families in Crisis New Beginnings,
Kids of Community and McMinnville Jaycees along with area businesses committed to the betterment of our children.
CAC31 is merely the custodian of these restricted use funds and records for Kids Funfest and Safety Day. All funds raised
are dedicated exclusively to the annual production of this free day of wholesome family fun. Our mission is to provide
education, physical activity, entertainment, and a meal to area children at no charge. A crowd of about 800 enjoyed a
slightly dreary yet fabulous day of safety and education disguised as free food and good fun. This year’s addition of the
Spring Olympics Games allowed us to incorporate families with special needs.
Kids Funfest and Safety Day epitomizes the amazing things that happen when a group of like-minded organizations band
together for communal good. This event was possible because of those who dedicated countless hours to planning, those
who committed financially, and all the organizations that volunteered their time on a highly coveted Saturday to provide
activities or food for the children.
