Annual Sports Meet „MYTHRI-17‟ held from 26th

September to 28th

September 2017. It

was the grandest and the most awaited event in the academic calendar. The dignitaries

present on the occasion included Shri. Hem Singh Pundeer, Member of Legislative Council,

Uttar Pradesh as the Hon‟ble Chief Guest and Dr. Thyagaraju B.M, a Senior Research

Officer (Science and Technology) Niti Aayog, Government of India as Guest of Honour,

Principal/Chairperson Dr. Gurulingappa M Patil, CAO Cmdr. B K Gupta, Registrar

Dr. S S Shirur, AO Mr. Manoj Kumar, Convener Dr. Yogendra Singh (HOD MBA),

Co-convener Prof. Vikas Singhal (HOD MCA) and PED Mr. Girish B E.

The sports meet was organised on such a large scale that it became the talk of everybody in

and around.

Ceremonial Procession, The March Past and Allied Ceremonies

The three days ceremony commenced with the arrival of the Guests escorted by the

dignitaries where students welcomed them by Tilak on the entrance of the ground. All were

seated in front of the stage. The programme began with the Saraswati Vandana followed by

colourful event such as Group dance. The dignitaries were invited by the MC on the stage

for formal inauguration.

Principal welcomed the guests, members on the dais, various head of the departments off the

dais, faculty members and participant students. The meet started with a beautiful display of

parade by the student sports coordinators of 13 different teams marching on the drum beats

with colourful flags. This was followed by oath ceremony. A part of it is reproduced for the

benefit of readers “In the name of all the competitors we promise that we shall take part

in the sports meet, respecting and abiding by the rules which govern them, committing

ourselves to a sport in the true spirit of sportsmanship, for the glory of sport and the

honour of our teams”.

The event was marked by lighting of the torch by the guest of honour Dr. Thyagaraju B.M

who handed it to Co-convener Prof. Vikas Singhal and Physical Education Director and

passed to senior student Ms. Shreya Singh Electronics and Communication Engineering dept.

(She has represented State Level Volleyball Tournament) who carried it to the play ground to

pass it to five other senior State and Zonal level Participated students. The torch finally

reached Hon’ble Chief Guest Shri. Hem Singh Pundeer who lit the ceremonial Lamp and

administered the athletes, and the air was filled with cheering and encouragement for the

young athletes, amidst thunderous applause, thereafter declaring the Meet open.

The guests delivered the speech wherein they emphasized on the importance of sports in the

student’s life and the dos and the don’ts in the area of sports. Their speech was inspiring and

valuable. He also advised to inculcate sense of initiative and self management skill amongst

the students.

While addressing the gathering the Chief Guest said, ‘It’s heartening to see the student’s

interest through participating in extra-curricular activities. Prof. Gurulingappa M, Patil, the

Principal, Convener Dr.Yogendra Singh and Co-convener Prof.Vikas Singhal presented the

shawl and memento to the Chief Guest. Cmdr. B K Gupta CAO and Mr. Girish B E PED

presented the shawl and memento to the Guest of Honour.

Lastly Dr. Yogendra Singh, Convener proposed a vote of thanks and further complimented

the Prof. Gurulingappa M, Patil, the Principal, Cmdr. B K Gupta CAO, Dr. S.S Shirur

Registrar, Mr. N S Manoj Kumar AO, specially the Prof. Vikas Singhal Co-convener/HOD

MCA, Mr. Girish B E PED including, Dr. R.S Jagadish HOD Chem , Ms. Praveen Poon

Tarang AP (EE), various sports committee heads, faculty sports coordinators, HOD’s,

participants, students and the ancillary staff without whose efforts the event could not have

been successful.

along with the Principal Prof. Gurulingappa M, Patil, CAO Cmdr. B K Gupta, Registrar Dr.

S S Shirur, AO Mr. Manoj Kumar, Convener Dr. Yogendra Singh, Co-convener Prof. Vikas

Singhal, PED Mr. Girish B E, and others boosted the confidence of the students by clapping

in 100m race.

The students showcased their multifaceted talents in various events like Badminton, Table

Tennis, Carom, Chess, Cricket, Football, Volleyball, Basketball, Tug of war, Kabaddi,

Three legged race, 100 mts running race, 4X 100 Relay Race, Shot put and Fun games.
