Lonely in a rocky peruvian landscape, a robot is drawinga city blueprint. Days after days, it slowly writes roadsand blocks, imagining the life that may one day occurinbetween these lines, in the new Nazca.

Slowly, somewhere inbetween Lyon and London, another robot is making pencils dribble on A2 papers inorder to reveal 20 hours later the face of a revolutionarypoet. Revolution takes time.

Humanly, bumping into each other somewhere in thesybway of internet, two talk bots happen to have their firstchat together. Gathering all their knowledge and charm, they dare to tease the listener and argue about God.

Lately, I spent quite a few of my summer evening layingof my balconny, smoking quietly, staring at the city in frontof me. Going round and round in my flat, I had the feelingthat even if this cityscape is one of the most livable placeon earth, there was few escapes. Almost none. As if whatlooks like reality only was an artefact of a spectacle. As ifthis miliue for our specy to grow was only a fake stage for

us to live. Inbetween four walls.

As if we were all living in a zoo.

Entertainment is the air we breathe. But when itbankrupts, it leaves the lanscape wounded and theneighborhood a feeling of a ghost city.

In China is one ofthe last example, a

place was aimed tobe the biggestentertainment resortin the Beijingsuburb. See more ofthe intriguing workof Catherine Hyland here. Desolation is our newentertainment. There are no escape, we live in a zoo.

City walls are your notebook. Change block as you wouldturn a page, choose the right support, walls, metro, trucks, sidewalk or mailboxes.

Now you can trainyour grafiti from

home, using theWalls Notebookas yourplayground first.Of course, don’tforget to go and

sign IRL too. Urban space has never been as much aninterior space as it is now. There are no escape, we live

in a zoo.

In NYC, Twitter tweets every seconds. But all ‘shouts’remain digital. Which is to say remain silent for all our

analog ears.

Hopefully ImprovEverywhere has prepared a great

shouting experience ; look at the video to get the pointand you’ll see how joyfull our zoo might become if wewere shouting IRL.

Is there any link with the «les indignés» movement ? Thatmight be ...

This topic about media, data, journalism, information isquite vast, I’ll come back about it in further edition of thiszine.

Li Edelkoort about the Post Fossil trend :

«Time has come for extreme change.

Society is ready to break away from last century for good. To break with creative conventions, theoretic rules and stigmas that now arequestioned, challenged and broken. To break with amaterialistic mentality replacing it with thematerialisation of modest earth-bound and recomposed matter. In the aftermath of the worst financial crisis indecades, a period of glamorous and streamlined design for design’s sake comes to an end.

A new generation of designers retrace their roots,

refine their earth and research their history, sometimes going back to the beginning of time. Inthis process, they form and formulate designaround exactly these natural and sustainablematerials, favouring timber, hide, pulp, fibre, earthand fire; like contemporary cavemen, they reinvent shelter, redesign tools and manmade machines,

and conceptualise archaic rituals for a moremodest, contented and contained lifestyle. Like a Fred Flintstone of tomorrow.»

Whashed Up is a serie made by the mexican artistAlejandro Durán.

It reminds me of Chris Jordan’s work, his pictures of deadbirds filled with plastic trashes, or Nyaba LeonOuedraogo’s photographs of workers in Ghana dealingwith a sea of computer rubbish.

All around the world, you hear some stories about takingcare of bees. After the famous Opéra de Paris , or theLondon agency of the sucessful Wolf Ollins creativenetwork, LVMH headquarter in Paris lately started to shelter some golden insects in luxury boxes to produceheavenly dlicious honey. Even my father has in hisbackyard a wooden box with around 30 000 bees

buzzing, for his great pleasure. And here are even morestories about urban apiaries.

Two years ago already, Yann Moulier Boutang stated thatwe all are ‘Google worker bees’.

“You are working for Google! Every second, 15 million people are clicking and feeding data toGoogle – a true paradigm of people working for the firm,”

Since 2009, the situation with Google didn’t change. Onthe other hand, and maybe from our new insect point of

view, we started to care about our fellow workers, the realgolden buzzing insects, whose species was endangered.Saving bees now means saving ourselves.

For further question, check the lexicon of sustainability  aims to define what sustainability is, in concrete terms

and in real life actions.«The Lexicon project is based on a simple premise: people can’t be expected to live more sustainablelives if they don’t even know the most basic termsand principles that define sustainability.»
