Deadline: 11/09/2018

Support to the realisation of the Implementation Plans of the SET Plan(up to 3 years)

Specific ChallengeThe SET-Plan of the European Union focusses on ten

actions structured around the Energy Union R&I

priorities. This strategy relies on a strengthened

partnership among SET Plan countries and the

stakeholders from both the industrial (including

ETIPs) and research communities (including EERA).

In 2016, the SET Plan adopted a set of ambitious

targets for its ten actions through a wide participatory

process and the corresponding Implementation Plans

are being developed in 2017.

Scope• Proposals will support the realisation of the SET Plan

Implementation Plans corresponding to the SET Plan

key actions 1 to number 9.

• Proposals should count with the participation of

research organisations and/or industry committed in

principle to execute all or some SET Plan related R&I

activities specified in the Implementation Plans

endorsed by the SET Plan Steering Group.

• Proposals shall detail to the extent possible the financial

contributions from public and private funding sources

at national level for the execution of the R&I activities

of the Implementation plans.

Expected ImpactThe expected impact will be the achievement of the research and innovation goals of the Energy Union

through the implementation of the integrated Strategic Energy Technology (SET) Plan, in particular the

execution of the SET Plan Implementation Plans endorsed by EU Member States and SET Plan Associated

Countries.

What activities are you planning to contribute to subprogramme 6: Techno Economics?

How does this add value to the Programme?

Quantify the economical performances of electrochemical providing storage ancillary services

(e.g., dispatch-by-design of heterogeneous resources, primary frequency control, primary and

secondary voltage control, line congestion management) within the context of unbundled

markets.

What activities are you planning to contribute to subprogramme 1: Electrochemical Energy

Storage? How does this add value to the Programme?

Electrochemical modelling of batteries/supercapacitors for ageing-aware controls.

Definition and experimental validation of stacking of ancillary services (e.g., dispatch-by-design

of heterogeneous resources, primary frequency control, primary and secondary voltage control,

line congestion management) provided by MW/MWh class electrochemical energy storage

systems.

What research infrastructures would you like to bring in as part of your contribution to the

Programme?

EPFL dispatchable feeder experimental setup consisting in 5 office buildings (peak

consumption 300kW) equipped local PV generation (100 kWp) and an utility-scale

720kVA/560kWh BESS (see http://smartgrid.epfl.ch/?q=node/20 for further details).
