Joyner Elementary School | Kindergarten Monthly Newsletter -August 2019
Greetings from KindergartenDear Parents, We will spend the first week learning about our new friends, rules and procedures and having fun while learning. We will send home a monthly newsletter that will highlight our main topics for academic areas and include any updates.
What We Are LearningReading: Students will get practice with asking and answering questions about stories read. They will identify the characters, setting, and major events in a story. In our Skills lessons, students will write lowercase letters. They will also work on being able to identify the front/back of a book, spine, title, and the author/illustrator name.
Math: This month students will count forward from any number, not beginning at 1. (Ex. 4, 5, 6) Students will count using one-to-one correspondence. They will write numbers and represent numbers with objects.
Science/Social Studies: We are going to learn about the seasons and weather. Students will also learn what it means to be a good citizen.
