A dessert has come to our fam’ly. A fruitcake with resolve to stay. We’ve offered a reward to take it, but can’t seem to give it away.We gave it to Henry, our neighbor. He gave it to Martha on the bus. Then Martha, she took it to Freddy. And Freddy brought it back to us! Oh no!

chorus:It’s an everlasting fruitcake. Just as soon as it’s gone, it will reappear.Though we’ve done our best to be rid of it, it shows up at our house each year.

We figured that we could not eat it. Its walnuts and dates were kaput. It’s so dense, you would not believe it. So, please don’t drop it on your foot! Oww!We sent it to Norway last summer. We put it into a big sack.I guess there was not enough postage, and we got our ol’ fruitcake back! (crying)repeat chorusWe tossed it into our big mulcher. We backed over it with our car. We ran over it with our mower. That fruitcake was not even scarred. We figured it must be resistant. Its toughness must be pretty great. So we turned it into a football that doubles as a paper weight.repeat chorusYes, it’s an everlasting fruitcake.Just as soon as it’s gone, it will reappear.Though we’ve done our best to be rid of it,it shows up at our house each year.I wish it didn’t show up ev’ry year.Yes, it shows up at our house each year!after doorbell/creaking door opening:spoken soloist #1: Sign here, please.spoken soloist #2: Not again! The Turkey Tango

THE TURKEY TANGO, Teresa Jennings© 1997 Plank Road Publishing, Inc. • All Rights Reserved

I taught my turkey how to tango. His name is Fred. He’s from Durango. In a tux, he looks so chic, with a rose held in his beak. And he does a nice fandango.

Now Freddie teaches how to tangoto all his buddies from Durango. Peter Panda, Betty Bear – they all think he’s Fred Astaire –even Al Orangutango.

He’s suave and graceful. He would never trip or hobble. He’s got that polish like a diamond or a bauble. He’s fine and clever and his feathers never wobble.Though it is true that, when he dances, he will gobble.solo: Gobble.

unison:A little snowflake fell out of the sky. At first, it floated, then started to fly.It should have melted the warmer it got. But I can tell you that snowflake would not!It was flying! It was flying! It was flying! Didn’t have a care!It was flying! It was flying! It was flying in the air!

The little snowflake decided to dance. It didn’t know how, but it took a chance. It skipped and jumped in a rhythmic display. It danced a waltz and a snowflake ballet! It was dancing! It was dancing! It was dancing! Didn’t have a care!It was dancing! It was dancing! It was dancing in the air!

Winter In AmericaI like the snow. I like it deep. So deep, it comes up to my nose. Achoo!I go outside to check it out. Before long, I can’t feel my toes. Anyone seen my toes?

But that’s okay. I’m here to stay. I’ll sled down a hillside or two. Whoa!I get into a snowball fight, and come home before I turn blue. (vocal chattering)

chorus:Winter in America.Cold up North. Ev’rything’s frozen!Winter in America.Warm down South. You might go swimmin’!Winter in America. All depends on where you’re livin’!

I like the beach! I like to swim! I like getting tan on my head. Ahhh!Sometimes I might lay out too long, Uh oh.and look like a lobster instead. Don’t touch me!

I ride my bike. Play volleyball. I jump on the trampoline, too. Wheee!I fly my kite. It’s outta sight! The fun outdoor things I can do!

chorus

And so you see the diff ’rences.Diverse winters in the same land. How do they do it?For some it snows. For some it rains. For some it will be rather bland. Yay. (lethargically)

With snow or sun, by sled or sail,or just hangin’ out in the sun. La, la, la! (melodically)The good thing is, in either place, our winter can be lots of fun! (cheering)

Santa Is My BuddyI’ve been very good this year, pleasant, helpful and sincere.Cleaned my room and washed the car.Stayed out of the cookie jar. Mostly.

Did my homework ev’ry day,no matter what my teachers say.Even washed behind my ears.I sure hope Santa reappears. Okay, Santa! Anytime!

Oh, Santa is my buddy. We go way back.Santa is my pal. We’re on a first name basis.I almost like him half as muchas my pet hamster, Hal. Well, Hal and I have been through a lot together.

When my Mom said, “Rise and shine,”I didn’t even cry or whine. Much.I gave Hal my garlic breadand scraped the gum off of my bed. Almost.

I heard Santa had a list.I made sure I wasn’t missed.Found him on the Internetand e-mailed what I’d like to get. Isn’t technology wonderful?

Oh, Santa is my buddy. Ready when you are, S.C.!Santa is my pal. I’ve got pictures to prove it.I almost like him half as muchas my pet hamster, Hal. Hal truly understands me.

Oh, Santa is my buddy. Just ask him!Yes, he and I are friends. It’s a meaningful relationship. And even Hal and Santa bondtill shopping season ends. Hal is just that kind of hamster.

Yes, even Hal and Santa bondtill shopping season ends!

I wonder if the Easter Bunny has an e-mail address?
