Wildcat Words
Dear Wonderful Wildcat Families,
What an exciting few weeks we have had at Osceola
lately! I enjoyed seeing so many of you at the Chick fil
A Spirit Night a few weeks ago. Last week, we also
celebrated our third quarter Character Kids. Those
students got to enjoy ice cream sundaes on the patio. We
had beautiful weather for a nice treat honoring our
students of character. Adding to the excitement was our
March Madness Basketball Tournament this past
weekend at Pedro Menendez High School. Osceola
entered the tournament in first place, so we played the
teams that worked their way through the bracket. In the
end, our Girls team was victorious in winning the
tournament. Our Boys team played with great grit and
determination, and made it to the finals. We are proud
of the efforts of both of our teams, and the great support
of all of our fans that came out to support the event.
Just a reminder that next Monday (March 13th) begins
Spring Break for St. Johns County. Students will be off
all next week and will have a day off on Monday, March
20th, as that will be a Teacher Planning Day. Please plan
accordingly. School will resume for students on March
21st.
We hope you have a restful break next week and look
forward to seeing all of our students when they return,
ready to tackle the rest of the school year with much
energy and enthusiasm!
Sincerely,
Joy Reichenberg Assistant Principal

Guidance Corner PUBERTY: Your 5th grader has the opportunity to participate in a puberty education program, Always Changing, presented at the school prior to Spring break on March 10th. The program includes a short video presentation, as well as a question and answer session regarding changes that a young person’s body goes through during puberty and adolescence. Boys and girls will be separated for the presentation. For more info, please call Ms. Harrison at 547-3787. SOCIAL MEDIA: The adolescent years pose many challenges to parents as well as our kids, one being the rising influence that social media has on their lives. Although students have had lessons on safety and cyber bullying, it is up to the parents/guardians to monitor their child’s access to social media. Please consider the following safeguards regarding social media if you allow your child access: 1. Make sure all devices are out of your child’s hands (and bedrooms) at bedtime. This is a great rule to start as much havoc happens when children are supposedly asleep. 2. Monitor contacts and conversations being held by your children, including direct messaging on Instagram, which has been gaining in popularity.
Osceola Elementary School Advisory Committee wants to hear
from you!
Please complete the parent/guardian needs assessment survey
to let us know of the strengths and needs of the families at
our school.
