JOY & SORROW

Christmas can be a season of both joy and sorrow. We are filled with joy, because of what God has done for us. We also find joy through cherished memories and time spent with our family and friends. Christmas can also be a time of sorrow as we mourn the loss of loved ones; loved ones who are no longer here to celebrate Christmas with us. God embraces us in both the joy and sorrow. He wants to be with you in both. He deepens and solidifies your joy and He comforts you in sorrow. He wants to be with you. Emmanuel means "God with us". This Christmas season, whether it is a mix of both joy and sorrow, what if you asked Jesus to be with you in it?

God bless you,

FAITH FORMATION

Did you know that the Sunday School Advent program will be especially poignant this year? Did you know that Christmas will soon be here? Did you know that the Christmas night sky when Jesus was born was probably spectacular? Did you know that you can imagine hearing the Angels sing, the shepherds coming over the hills, and the ani-mals stirring in the manger when Jesus is born? Did you know that you can also try to imagine the joy that filled the manger when Joseph and Mary were an-ticipating Jesus? Did you know that the Christmas story is a combined narrative of the Gospel accounts told at the different Christmas Masses? Did you know that the Faith Formation Second Grade Service Project is helping the Forest Lake Area Children’s Fund? Did you know that the Faith Formation Fifth Graders will be hosting a Baby Shower for the Forest Lake Life Care Center in January? Did you know that Service to others can help you live out your Faith? Did you know that if you are married, you should consider coming to St. Peter’s Cana Dinner on Friday, January 31st? Did you know that St. Peter has a new Youth Minister/Confirmation Coordinator named David Flynn? Did you know that David is going to be at the Annex on Sunday, December 15th from 3-5 pm for a “Meet & Greet” with St. Peter’s Youth? Did you know that we should keep David and his Ministry in our prayers?

Join us!

The Saturday Morning Men’s Bible Study will be starting a new study! They will be studying the weekly readings in preparation for Sunday Mass. Each

week they will study the three readings and the Psalm. This is a great group of men who are welcoming and have great donuts & coffee! They meet in the New

Conference Room on Saturday mornings from 7am-8:30am.

Twenty-four years ago, the Minnesota Supreme Court found a "right" to abortion on demand in our state Constitution - even though the word "abortion" never appears in the 150 year old document. Such a "right" would remain protected even if the U.S. Su-preme Court abortion decisions legalizing abortion were overturned. This ruling - Doe v. Gomez of De-cember 15, 1995 - continues to obligate the state of Minnesota to pay for abortion, something not re-quired by the U.S. Supreme Court. All abortions re-quested of the state for any reason, covering all nine months of pregnancy, are required to be funded with our tax dollars.

As concerned Catholic citizens we can help end this injustice by contacting our legislators requesting that they pass a state law to end taxpayer funded abor-tions (www.state.mn.us).

Support the life-affirming efforts of the Lakes Life Care Center (651-464-4340) and St. Bridget’s Baby Blanket program (651-257-2474) that help local families in need.
