ABSTRACT
At this crucial moment when global competition is becoming more
intense, the Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) level of innovation
is the key to business success, growth and survival. To spur SMEs
innovativeness and overcome the negative effects of the intense
competition, managers need to have a workable process management
system of manufacturing products as well as delivering services.
This study proposes the research framework on the relationship
between business process management and marketing innovation
performance of Nigerian SMEs in manufacturing and service industries,
the adoption of environmental dynamism as moderator could further
strengthen the relationship. This will benefit the regulatory bodies
and business managers.
Keywords: Process management (PM), Environmental dynamism (ED),

CAPACITY BUILDING PROGRAM OF PRIVATE EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTION AND
MANAGER LEVEL OF SATISFACTION
NGUYEN VAN HUONG; HO CHI MINH CITY, VIETNAM
ABSTRACT
The higher education sector in Vietnam has been undergoing profound
transformation during the last decade. Higher education is considered
to have the responsibility to provide the students with professional
knowledge and skills and to help student satisfy the demand of the
employment market. However, university graduates are unable to find
the jobs in their area of specialization while employers still report
for their difficulties in finding their skilled workers with required
knowledge and skills. In order to meet the boom economy, many private
educational institutions has been set up and enrollment are also on
the higher side. This has led to a remarkable growth and competition
in higher education sector of Vietnam.
Due to increased pressure of the competition in the education service
industry, higher educational institutions should adopt a market
orientation strategy to differentiate their services from the
competition in order to attract new students and retain old students.
Thus, these institutions need to understand their target markets (i.e.
students or clients), assess the target market needs and modify their
offerings to meet that need. In other words, providing quality
services and satisfying students' needs as well as expectations are
vital for higher educational institutions to succeed in general.
This study aims to examine the level of student satisfaction with
student services provided by private educational institutions in
Vietnam. The primary objective was to identify service quality
factors influencing on the student satisfaction. These factors
include: (1) instructor/trainer expertise, (2) content of training
program such as material and material design, (3) coaching, (4)
advising staff, (5) course administration (management) (6) facilities,
(7) and networking. A questionnaire was utilized for data collection.
The questionnaire was distributed to 350 students at two top private
institutions specializing in corporate training program which are
Accounting and Business Management (IABM), Indochina International
Education Development (IED) Group and PTI Education Group. A 50-item
survey questionnaire was used for students to evaluate the quality of
student services. The data was analyzed using SPSS. The result of
this research will be very beneficial for private institutions for
improvement so that they can meet clients' satisfaction and gain

loyalty of clients in future and increase their revenues as well. The
findings show that four factors including (1) trainer, (2) content of
the training program, (3) coaching and (4) networking have
significant impact on learner satisfaction. Especially, focusing on
coaching and networking factors which are unique services to
customers is a good differentiation strategy for private higher
institutions to gain more competitive advantage and success. The
research provides theoretical and managerial implications and
directions for future career.

A STUDY OF USING "CORPORATE CITIZENSHIP" AS AN EFFECTIVE MARKETING
TOOL TO PROMOTE THE COMPANY'S NAME IN THE CONSUMER GOODS SECTOR IN
JOHOR BAHRU
LIEW ENG SEONG, JOHOR BAHRU, MALAYSIA
ABSTRACT
The objectives of the Study are:
• To find out the importance of corporate citizenship for a
company.
• To analyze the consumers perception.
• To analyze the impact of corporate citizenship role
quantitatively and qualitatively for a company.
The researcher commenced the first personal interview on August 1,
2006 with the accountant manager of a housing developer organization
in Johor Bahru. Due to the time constraint, personal survey or face
to face interview was still the best choice for the researcher not to
mention having to end up with tan complexion. The researcher also
conducted field survey at the Johor Bahru’s Hypermarkets namely at
Giant Plentong and Tebrau Jaya Jasco over the weekends only because
since the survey questionnaires were rather comprehensive in nature,
it warranted to approach the consumers at their leisure shopping
trips when they were more obliging. Almost all the respondents plead
ignorant on the subject matter or that their organization did not
practice it at all.
The total population for the study would encompass 300 participants
from myriad backgrounds but all residing in Johor Bahru in the State
of Johor and who would consider themselves knowledgeable consumers.
This sample size was also felt to be satisfactory since the
information were provided by respondents who held permanent positions
in their respective organizations which were from different
industries, for example, banking, housing developer, insurance,
architects, engineers, to name a few .
The Questionnaires design used in this research survey was from
Internet which was originally designed and used by Messrs Fleishman
Hillarab Research of Scotland for their research on corporate social
responsibility. The researcher found the questionnaires to be
extremely applicable for the Corporate Citizenship research and
alterations were kept to the minimum but where the questions were
rather political in nature and perhaps unnecessary, they were left

out completely. The questionnaires were selected according to the
needs in the research survey and consisted only 35% of the total
design. The researcher had no choice but to do so because of the
time constraint in order to complete the research paper on time.
The researcher was convinced that given time and the knowledge access
to the consumers, organizations would be able to use corporate
citizenship as marketing tool.
Studies have revealed that there are broadly similar demands placed
on organizations of all types when they operate in networks which
include organizational design, understanding processes as well as
outcomes and learning communicating.

THE IMPACTS OF FINANCIAL DEVELOPMENT ON VIETNAMESE HOUSEHOLD
ECONOMIC ACTIVITIES
NGUYEN NGOC CHIEN; HO CHI MING CITY, VIETNAM
ABSTRACT
The relationship between financial development and economic
activities has been analysed by many papers, but the issue is
inconclusive. Many researchers argue that financial development plays
an important role in economic activities, while others do not
accept the role of the financial system in economic activities.
They argue that problems can occur and lead to economic difficulties
if there are financial crises. Therefore, it is necessary to have
more research to clarify the link between financial development and
economic activities.
Moreover, studies regarding the link between financial development
and economic activities have a number of limitations in the existing
literature. At the macro level, the impacts of financial development
on economic growth and its sources of growth have been examined, but
some channels of transmission from financial development to growth
such as the efficiency of investment, the efficiency of using savings,
and information technology have not been analysed. At the micro
level, only a few papers have looked at the role of financial
development at the household level. There are so many aspects
mentioned above through which financial development can have an
influence on economic activities, but these papers analyse only some
aspects.
Regarding studies about Hanoi, the link between financial development
and economic activities has been studied qualitatively and
quantitatively by some researchers such as Duong and Izumida (2002),
and Quach and Mullineux (2006), but these studies have only
examined the impact of borrowing on income and expenditure.
They have neglected an analysis of the impact on savings, investments,
productivity and technology. The simultaneous impact of financial
development has not been examined. In addition, these studies have
not used alternative measures of financial development. The measure
used in these studies, borrowing, has reflected only partly the role
of the financial system. These studies have neglected the impact of
both financial development environment and network on economic
activities.
Therefore, this study examines the nexus between financial
development and economic activities in Hanoi at both the macro and
the micro level. The main goals of this paper are to analyse the two

central following issues:
Has financial development had any impacts on economic activities in
Hanoi? If yes, through which channels has financial development
influenced economic activities in Hanoi?
The main results of this paper suggest that government policies
improve financial development by encouraging education, financial
liberalization, property rights which increase people’s fixed assets,
and the social relationship of households. In turn, financial
development promotes the level and quality of savings and
investment, labor productivity and the progress of information
technology, and hence income of households. Furthermore, financial
development is positively related to household economic welfare.

THE FACTORS INFLUENCING THE INNOVATIVE WORK BEHAVIOR OF KNOWLEDGE
WORKERS IN HONG KONG’S KNOWLEDGE INTENSIVE BUSINESS SERVICES: A
RESEARCH PROPOSAL
CHOW P K SUMY; HONG KONG
ABSTRACT
Ideation is the foundation of innovation and it is the individual
worker in an organization who “creates, conveys, responds to, and
incubates ideas”. Innovative workplace behavior has a significant
role to play in the operational of knowledge-intensive business
services in Hong Kong. This study attempts to find out the
predictor of knowledge worker’s innovative work behavior. Thus, this
study attempts to deductively confirm the three independent
constructs; namely supervisor-subordinate reciprocity, climate
perception and relational social capital, have strong association
with the innovative workplace behavior of knowledge workers A
quantitative method was proposed to utilize data collected using mail
survey. A total of 1000 questionnaires were distributed for analysis
using SPSS version 22.0. The quantitative results are to determine
if there were significant relationship between climate perception,
relational social capital and supervisor-subordinate reciprocity with
innovative workplace behavior of knowledge workers in Hong Kong.
This study shall significantly contributes to the predictors of
knowledge workers’ innovative workplace behavior in knowledge-
intensive business services (KIBS). Moreover, firms in KIBS can
strategically manage these factors to further enhance the
innovativeness of the knowledge workers in Hong Kong.

TRAN KHAI THANH; HO CHI MINH CITY, VIETNAM
ABSTRACT
The main objective of this study is to assess the predicting role of
human resource management (HRM) practices on employee retention. Five
dimensions of HRM practices examined in this study are Performance
Appraisal, Reward, Working Condition, Equal Employment Opportunity
and Training. A survey was conducted among employees in service
companies in the Southern Region of Vietnam. A total of 280
questionnaires were returned and used for data analysis. Based on the
statistical tests conducted, the findings showed that all the
independent variables (Performance Appraisal, Reward, Working
Condition, Equal Employment Opportunity and Training) are related to
the dependent variables (Employee Turnover Intention). However,
training is not significant related but supported. Besides, training
is the least contribution to dependent variable.

This issue concentrates on variety of themes connected with managerial and
economical matters. At first, Dr. Yeoh Khar Kheng and GARBA MUDDAHA proposed the
research framework on the relationship between business process management and
marketing innovation performance of Nigerian SMEs in manufacturing and service
industries, this will benefit the regulatory bodies and business managers in
Nigeria to spur SMEs innovativeness and overcome the negative effects of the
intense competition.
Secondly, the paper written by Dr. Nguyen Van Huong examined the level of student
satisfaction with student services provided by private educational institutions in
Vietnam. The study identified service quality factors influencing on the student
satisfaction. These factors include: (1) instructor/trainer expertise, (2) content
of training program such as material and material design, (3) coaching, (4)
advising staff, (5) course administration (management) (6) facilities, (7) and
networking. The result of this research will be very beneficial for private
institutions for improvement so that they can meet clients' satisfaction and gain
loyalty of clients in future and increase their revenues as well. The research
provides theoretical and managerial implications and directions for future career.
Moreover, Dr Liew Eng Seong studied about Corporate Citizenship. A field which is
new and not much research done. He found out the importance of corporate
citizenship for a company, analyzed the consumers perception and the impact of
corporate citizenship role quantitatively and qualitatively for a company.

Following, Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Chien, further analysed the central issue impacts of
financial development on economic activities in Hanoi and through which channels
has financial development influenced economic activities in Hanoi. The main results
suggest that government policies improve financial development by encouraging
education, financial liberalization, property rights which increase people’s fixed
assets, and the social relationship of households. In turn, financial
development promotes the level and quality of savings and investment, labor
productivity and the progress of information technology, and hence income of
households. Furthermore, financial development is positively related to household
economic welfare.
Next, Chow P K Sumy, gives an in-depth look into the predictor of knowledge
worker’s innovative work behavior. This study attempts to deductively confirm the
three independent constructs; namely supervisor-subordinate reciprocity, climate
perception and relational social capital, have strong association with the
innovative workplace behavior of knowledge workers in Hong Kong. This study shall
significantly contribute to the predictors of knowledge workers’ innovative
workplace behavior in knowledge-intensive business services (KIBS). Moreover, firms
in KIBS can strategically manage these factors to further enhance the
innovativeness of the knowledge workers in Hong Kong.
Finally article written by Dr. Tran Khai Thanh assessed the predicting role of
human resource management (HRM) practices on employee retention. Five dimensions of
HRM practices examined in this study are Performance Appraisal, Reward, Working
Condition, Equal Employment Opportunity and Training. Based on the statistical
tests conducted, the findings showed that all the independent variables
(Performance Appraisal, Reward, Working Condition, Equal Employment Opportunity and
Training) are related to the dependent variables (Employee Turnover Intention).
However, training is not significant related but supported. Besides, training is
the least contribution to dependent variable.
