Practicum Week : Week 2

Title of Journal : Problems in my teaching.

1. Problem

I am struggling with the time management because there are few other things which I have to

attend to apart from the practicum. I know that this is not a reason for me to not be able to

perform for my practicum thus I am doing my best to overcome this issue. I am teaching the

mixed ability class 3 Zamrud and the pupils are quite hard to control. My classroom control is

not that good yet but I have been focusing on this issue since my first week in this school.

Failing to plan is planning to fail (Alan Lakein), this makes me realized that I got to have a better

planning for my practicum.

2. Analysis

This problem occurred because I did not have a good planning for my daily activities.

Sometimes, I tend to forget the things or task that I need to do and complete in the particular

week. For my classroom control problem, I think that my teaching style is not suitable to the way

of 3 Zamrud pupils’ behavior. I need another way of approach and teaching style that can suit

for the pupils.

3. Follow-up Action

a) I should try to do some research on the net or book on how to handle my time management

in the classroom effectively.

b) I will try to adhere with the time as planned.

c) Have a timetable and checklist for my reference.

d) Give clear and simple instructions to control the class.

e) Plan and do a more interesting lesson to capture pupils’ attention.

4. Time Period for Follow-up Action

I will try my best to overcome this problem by the end of this weekend. Time management is

very important so that the students will gain a good quality of teaching and learning in the

classroom. If this problem were not handled properly, it will lead to a bad result such as failure in

achieving the learning objective(s). In addition, classroom control is also vital for me to deliver a

smooth and good lesson because I will able optimize the time for learning and reduce the time

for classroom control.
