The study of “A” Mountain made us as beginning designers to view at the natural lines the original landscape brought into the ever Growing Urban living. From it’s location, The mountain seems to be in the Premiere spot for any sort of recreational activities. From the many picture, we see the “CLASH” between too Elements the Urban Community and Nature. We see how prior designers took the natu-ral nature and incorporated with the surroundings. From the Arizona State University campus to the popular Mill Ave. Even though it is thought this of a desert waste land, when you are submerge into the culture you do not feel in a Desert Basin.

Man-Made is represented by vertical Lines, horizontal Lines, and Rectangular Shapes.Natural Elements are represented by curved lines and circle shapes.

At the start of the semester we began by diagraming. Focusing on our daily basis from hour to hour.

The starts of my day begin like a fire cracker. Most of my influence on how I lay down a line on an empty piece of paper come from being a car enthusiast. The curved lines, all lines coming to one point, and the simple fact of how lines can create something so beauti-ful.

Hopefully I can continue to focus both of my passions and bring Architecture and Car Transportation as a whole.

My Daily diagram shows both this as-pects of straight lines and Curves.

The Study of light and shadows.

Sometimes you need to understand the concept of shadows and light to under-stand the best qualities that bring the best of this discipline,

We show here how a simple charcoal pencil if pressed right on the paper will produce a picture perfect image of the light and shadows.

Analysis | Context | Systems

The Study of topographic lines brought a whole new aspect of thinking for me.

This was a challenging project. The reasons for this was because I had never was discipline to this type of line work. Background comes from Fine Arts and having the ability to not be required to have a straight line unless intended.

My hand was so use to sketching that it serve problems when needing to lay a straight line without using a straight edge.

Another interesting Fact, is this was my first time Tracing.

Once again we take a study of the “A” mountain and find the beauty it holds.

Representing the mountain from your favorite spot be-came a challenging task to complete.

The view Chosen was over looking the Sundevil Stadi-um, Light rail, and Sports Complex.

This view shows the collaboration of Urban living with nature.

Composition | Construction

The study of composition like many things needs to start from a simple object.

What best to represent that other than black squares.

In this study we were giving the challenge of coming up with 5 dif-ferent systems. Repetition, Rhythm, Alignment, Symmetrical Bal-ance, and Asymmetrical Balance. After completing that part of the study we were asked to pick one that best represents a site on the mountain. The Chosen system I went with was Rhythm. Going with what I first analyze from taking picture of the mountain, have that rhythm will help you co-exist with what is already there.

Space | Composition | Program

Jumping from the Last Study this one challenge use to finally put our designing caps on. From the chosen system of previous we were given the liberty of design twelve little pavilions, and that those Pavilions provides spaces for large gathering, sitting area, and even a playground for kids.

It was fun coming up with full little pavilions that you can see start taking shape. The overall Idea behind my site was Take a side from the North side of the Mountain and Design an area overlook-ing the Tempe Town Lake which could bring a lot of activity when big events such as the Ford Ironman Arizona Triathlon, which on the corner of Rio Salado and Mill Ave. becomes the focal point of the event. Being at this location will bring a lot of spectators.

The Elevation was another challenging but interesting discipline practice in this semester.

The hard parts of this part of the As-signment was knowing the line weight difference.

Continuing with the Sections Illustra-tion.

Like in Elevations I had difficulty with applying the line weights to each cor-responding part.

At the end we achieve the difference and show where we are cutting and what we are not.

Even Though it was time consuming, the rewarding part of this part of the proj-ect was seeing it all come together and see that with patience you can see it start coming to life.

From the Plan to the Plan Oblique, both were to understand why it is needed.

This is yet another gateway on the entire design concept of my proposed programs.

Elevated roof tops, walls, and plat-forms.

The last project.

In this study I decided to put all my focus in continuing with my theme of elevated platforms, roofs walls.

As you can see from the illustrations, you get a sense of that elevations from the get go. Where the platform that is on one level turns into a roof in the next level, but never touches the ground. Also you get to see the multi-level roof line from the sections, and elevations illustrated.

The last thing I want to acknowledge is the center point lies with the stairs, How it zig zags from the lower level to the second level to add that Rhythm striving for since the beginning.

The complex nature of this pro-gram design fits well with its surrounding area.

The Plan shows the true factor which this structure is being held up. With a mixture of con-crete, I-beams, earth, we can say this is going to fit perfect when time comes to use it.

to finish.

After trail and error of three different Pavilion designs, This is the best rep-resentation of rhythm and what ultimately I wanted this to be used for, a look out over the Tempe Town lake.

We finally get an illustration that gets you closer to seeing what it will look in real time.

Prisma Markers used with Graphite.
