ABOUT ME
I am a passionate and highly skilled SQL Server Developer and
Solutions Consultant with a thirst for complex, intellectually
challenging projects. I can draw upon experience of a wide
variety of technologies to bring a holistic approach to solutions.
I
currently work in the field of marketing analytics but am open
to new challenges in any field. Outside of work, my interests

Initially employed by Smartfocus Ltd, who were bought by
Emailvision in July 2011; I have rapidly progressed from a
junior
implementation Consultant to being a Senior Consultant for the
Solution Services team, specialising in data quality services
and
SQL Server development generally. I have worked on many large
projects for international blue-chip companies delivering
large-
scale marketing analytics solutions based around the smartFOCUS
suite of software. I am in a client-facing role involved in
every
stage of these projects, from requirements gathering, through
design, implementation, testing, user support and on-going
delivery of managed services. I also support many internal
functions: I am the owner of the smartSERVER DQS suite (SQL
Server,
C#) used to deliver data quality and Single Customer View
solutions to clients; developing and managing the timesheets
system
(C#, ASP.NET, SQL Server); and developing useful utilities and
scripts in order to improve the way in which our solutions are
delivered. This job has allowed me to develop my interpersonal
skills by liaising with a wide variety of clients, given me
exposure
to more formal project management strategies (PRINCE 2) and a
much more rigorous approach to testing, not to mention
allowed me to vastly improve my SQL Server skills and develop my
competence in a wider range of Microsoft technologies.

My first foray into working in the world of IT, this provided me
with an exceptionally broad range of experiences. I was the
primary member of IT staff supporting around fifty personnel of
a medical supply company. My responsibilities encompassed
the entire company network across two sites, database
development and administration (MySQL and SQL Server), desktop
and
IP telephony support, IT procurement and planning, development
of the in-house CRM and SCM software, integration of

industrial control systems, management of the CCTV system and
development and administration of the company website. I
also provided BI reports to senior management, and developed a
new marketing database and campaigning system.
FREELANCE AND PERSONAL PROJECTS
During and since my time at university I have worked freelance
on projects in my spare time including SOHO desktop support,
network installation and server builds; Data acquisition and
campaigns management for a non-profit organisation; and most
recently a suite to monitor a 3D graphics render farm, provide
proactive altering, job reporting and billing services,
integrating
SQLite, MySQL, SQL Server and XML Data, pushing data to email
using Powershell and building graphical reports in Microsoft
Excel.
EDUCATION
UNIVERSITY OF BRISTOL, VETERINARY SCIENCE 2004 -2007
I studied on the BVSc Veterinary Science course from 2004 to
2007, following a long-held desire of pursuing a career in
veterinary medicine. Despite enjoying the medical sciences and
relishing the intense intellectual challenges presented, after
taking some time off on medical leave, I decided that this
career path wasnt the direction I wanted my life to go and went
to
pursue other interests.
I was active in several student societies at university, first
and foremost of which was a branch of the youth and student wing
of
a political party to which I was elected President, and then
went on to be elected to the national executive committee.
