STUDENT CODE OF BEHAVIOURThis code emphasized a sense of self-worth and self-discipline in students and outline realistic and effective

consequences for failure to meet the schools standards. A summary of school rules and regulations forAlpha High School students are enclosed herewith to help you and your child know what is expected ofhim/her. Students knowledge and observance of these regulations will help to establish good order andprovide them with an atmosphere in which the school work and activities can be carried out with maximumbenefit to your child, other fellow students, and the staff.

Attendance/Late to SchoolAttendance is critical to the success of a student at school. All classes are compulsory. If a student isunable to attend class, he/she must report to the Dean of Students. Students who do not observe theprocedures regarding attendance will be regarded as being truant for the day and period of absence. A unitof study in any subject usually involves the development of a sequence or related understandings. When the

process and content of learning are disrupted by irregular attendances, both the individual student andhis/her class mates suffer a loss of experience that can not be entirely regained. All work that is missedmust be made up by the student. When a series of classes have been missed the student may seriouslyjeopardize his/her chances of obtaining a good grade in the subject.

Students should arrive at school in full uniform, with all necessary materials before the bell rings at 7.30a.m. each day. Any student who is not present and prepared for class as described above must obtain anappropriate admit slip from the Dean of students.

Unauthorized absence from class is a serious matter as it hinders progress in a particular subject. Shoulda student miss any classes without authorization from the school then this will be considered as truancy.

Parents will be contacted upon such instances and upon all major instances of skipping classes. If astudent is persistently late and/or absent, disciplinary measures will be taken against him/her including astern written warning, suspension and expulsion from school and parents will be contacted accordingly.

Early DismissalsIf it is necessary for a student to leave early, we ask that the student brings a letter to the Dean of students. This should be submitted fifteen minutes before school starts so that an early dismissal can be indicated onthe appropriate form. A student who misses classes and who fails to follow early dismissal procedures willbe indicated on the absence list.

A student will not be given permission to leave school without a letter from his/her parent or in the case ofillness a note from the school matron. In the case of medical appointments with doctors and dentists wewould prefer if students could make appointments outside of school hour if at all possible so that studentsdo not miss classes unnecessarily.

    Absences

If a student is ill or will be missing school for any other reason, you are asked to inform the school.Similarly when a student returns to the school he/she must present a letter, signed by you explaining theabsence. This must be presented to the Dean of students before the student returns to class. In the eventthat student forgets to bring a letter he/she may be admitted upon the condition that he/she brings onebefore the beginning of classes on the next school day. Any student who has just returned from a period ofabsence must have an admit slip from the Dean of Students to admit him to class before the class begins.

School TimingsEveryday (Mondays to Friday) from 7:20am - 3:00pm

However, it is a requirement that a student participates in after - school non-academic activities which are

conducted twice a week; Tuesdays and Fridays. This is aimed at creating opportunities for students toparticipate in co-curricular activities including sports and games.

Moral Tone of the SchoolStudents must learn to work not only as individuals but also to work with others. Mutual respect, co-operation, and sharing are important values in our social experience. It is expected that students willdevelop and demonstrate respect for property and respect for authority.

Behavior in the ClassroomStudents are expected to be courteous, cooperative at all times and to exhibit respect for the rights andproperty of others. Any behavior which disturbs the learning/teaching atmosphere of the classroom will not

be tolerated. Additionally students should not be in the school corridors during class time as this tends tocreate noise and to disturb the classroom learning environment.

    Cell Phones and Drugs

A student is not allowed to possess and use cell phones in the school, as such gadgets tend tointerfere with the students attention and the teaching/learning process.

Smoking, possession and use of tobacco, alcohol and any other type of drug is prohibited on theschool campus as well as during school functions and other events.

Damage of School PropertyStudents are expected to behave at all time while on school property. Proper behavior will ensure the

safety of students and of school property. Vandalism has no place in our school. Students will be expectedto pay for any damage done to school property. Vandalism cannot be accepted and even petty vandalismsuch as graffiti on walls, doors, washrooms, etc. will result in serious disciplinary measures includingsuspension or expulsion from school.

LanguageAll students and all staff members deserve the utmost respect. Thus, improper language that degradesanother in any way has no place at Alpha High School. Any student who uses such language shall besubjected to STRICT disciplinary action.

Co-Curricular ActivitiesAlpha High school provides opportunities for our students to participate in games and other co-curricularactivities of their choice. All students participating in the co-curricular activities such as sports should followthe schools regulations with regards to the team and the sports. Canteen FacilitiesThe canteen at Alpha High School is the only place where the students may buy food items to eat or drink.Buying things from vendors outside the school is not allowed.

ExaminationsDates for examinations will be shared with students well in advance. If a student misses an examinationdue to illness or family emergency, a medical certificate/authenticated note from the parent must bepresented to the school as soon as possible. This should state why the student was not able to attendexaminations. Otherwise examinations will not be rescheduled. If student arrives late in the examinationroom, no extra time will be permitted.

School CleanlinessAs members of the school community, Alpha High School should be our pride. Let up keep the schoolclean all the time. KEEP MY SCHOOL CLEAN must be the attitude we should all cherish. In the light ofthis understanding students are urged to cultivate the habit of making use of the bins to dispose of anypapers, sweet wrappers and plastic bags from any source.

Finally, on behalf of the school community I would like to thank you for sending your child to Alpha HighSchool. I look forward to working with you for the benefit of your child.
