Briefings for groups, units, or one-on-one consultations are available by request. Programs and events are subject to change. The John S. McCain National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2019 authorized many changes to the Transition Assistance Program. Service members who’ve already started TAP will continue with their current plan. As of 1 October 2019, everyone will follow new requirements. Mandatory components of TAP apply to all service members who’ve served 180 continuous days or more on active duty. This includes National Guard and Reservists transitioning or released from active duty.

WHAT’S CHANGING?Timelines, workshops, curriculum, and requirements. A lot of information is reviewed in TAP. It can be overwhelming and too much to remember in a short amount of time. The John S. McCain National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2019 authorized many changes to the Transition Assistance Program. Service members who’ve already started TAP will continue with their current plan. As of 1 October 2019, everyone will follow new requirements. Mandatory components of TAP apply to all service members who’ve served 180 continuous days or more on active duty. This includes National Guard and Reservists transitioning or released from active duty.

WHAT’S CHANGING?Timelines, workshops, curriculum, and requirements. A lot of information is reviewed in TAP. It can be overwhelming and too much to remember in a short amount of time. Beginning the transition process earlier allows adequate time to digest the information.NEW Service members must start no later than 365 days before their separation or retirement date. The bottom line, the process must start no later than a year out.

Post-transition goals are unique.
