For example, if you give £10 it could release up to £100 from the Fund – it’s as simple as that.

How can this be?Landfi ll site operators pay a tax when they bury waste. Some of this money goes into the Landfi ll Communities Fund for projects that benefi t the environment. Charities like the Trust can bid for this money to help with our vital nature conservation work– but only if donors provide at least 10% of the total funds needed. We are asking you to help us today to unlock this money by donating the initial 10 per cent.

Ten times better for wildlife Wildlife across our three counties has already been helped in so many ways using landfi ll funding. For example:

n East Pit in Cambridge has been transformed from a neglected overgrown wasteland in to a haven for glow worms, blue butterfl ies and rare chalk grassland fl owers. The endangered moon carrot, found in only two other places in the UK, is now thriving there.

n Five wildfl ower meadows in Bedfordshire have been improved with the help of a new tractor and other equipment – so that bees, butterfl ies, hedgehogs, cuckoos and scarce wildfl owers can survive and fl ourish.

n Dormice, nightingales, lesser spotted woodpeckers and white admiral butterfl ies are just a few species benefi tting from the restoration of 200 hectares of woodland in Northamptonshire.
