Avila Beach is a must for lovers of warm beaches, fine dining, shopping, sport fishing & people watching. The mineral springs and spas are well worth the scenic drive. Be sure to take a leisurely walk on the 1.5 mile Bob Jones Trail. Directions to this fantastic walk are: Take Avila Beach Rd. west, and turn right on Ontario Rd. to the parking area at the trail head. The current section of the trail is paved and provides an easy level walk through the woods along San Luis Obispo Creek to Avila Beach. There are lots of other activities in the area – golfing, four wheel ATV riding, horseback riding, surfing, skydiving and fishing. You will find that there are many one-of-a-kind shops to satisfy every interest in the Pismo Beach and Five Cities area. Here you will find gifts with astonishingly fair prices. Encourage the advertising restaurants, shops, and activities with your patronage and comments. Don’t forget to give yourself time for wine tasting at one of the Vineyards along scenic Sea Canyon or Orcutt road. Pismo Beach is a nostalgic California beach town that attracts people from all over the world. Sunbathe in the perfect weather while watching the surfers, or take a stroll along the 1,200 ft. pier. Events such as the annual Classic Car Show and the July 4th fireworks display are both held on or around the pier. No license is required to fish on the pier. However, please check with the local Chamber of Commerce regarding license requirements for all sports activities. Volunteers and Staff host visitors to the Dunes Center at 1065 Guadalupe St. Guadalupe, which present educational programs and provide docents for hikes and bird walks into the dunes. They offer several walks each week which are open to the public for free. They can also arrange tours for groups or organizations by reservation.
