What is a co-op? A co-op is a cooperative, member-owned business. The Oshkosh Food Co-op will be a not-for-profit membership organization that connects local residents with healthy food choices.
A food co-op offers many products like any other grocery store, but is owned by the people who shop there. Because the co-op is owned by people who share your interests and values, the co-op can source food locally and emphasize natural and organic food.
Co-opProcess
BenefitsWhen you join a food co-op, you are investing in a community-owned grocery store. You’ll know that you are keeping your food dollars in the community. And, members may also earn a dividend, based on the financial performance of the co-op. Additional benefits may include case and bulk discounts, workshop/event discounts and a complimentary subscription to co-op publications.
Supporting the Co-opCapital SharesYou may also purchase additional (non-voting) shares to support the co-op.
Member LoansAs a member, you may make a loan to the co-op. We’ll offer interest payments to you over the course of the loan. With this investment, you can help the co-op save money on interest charges.
MembershipYou can purchase a non-refundable lifetime membership in the co-op for $180. (You may name one other person in your household to the account.) If necessary, you can pay the membership fees over time. With your membership you receive the right to vote on official co-op matters and attend our annual meeting. See our website for complete details.
