Mercy International Centre (MIC) is a wellspring of inspiration for those who come to continue Catherine’s mission

The staff of MIA is eager to welcome you to Catherine’s House, the first house of Mercy built by Catherine McAuley in response to the needs of the poor of Dublin. This house is a Centre of Hospitality, Heritage, Pilgrimage, and Renewal, and is home to the global Mercy community.

Mercy International Centre (MIC) calls and challenges the Mercy family of today to hear the cries of the poor that have assumed global proportions and to use their resources to respond to issues of global poverty and thus “to keep alive the founding spirit of Catherine among peoples of the world most in need of God’s compassion and mercy” (MIA Vision Statement). Today, Mercy International Centre welcomes visitors and pilgrims from all over the world.

Catherine McAuley wrote “Won’t you pray fervently that we may all have a profitable holy retreat. May almighty God helps us to make it well.” A sabbatical experience at MIC in Dublin provides the opportunity for a profitable, holy retreat by following in her footsteps, spending time in her house, reflecting in her room, and learning more about the culture and traditions where Mercy was born.

Mercy Global Action is able to exchange knowledge, identify best practices, and bring the two chief areas of concern to their justice work.

Mercy International Association has a long history of justice advocacy. Today, the international justice arm of MIA is located at the United Nations in New York City. The MGA team, three staff and an intern, work to expand our advocacy capacity and re-imagine ways in which the grassroots experience can influence global policies.

In 2022, MGA staff will facilitate multiple programmes mentioned in this booklet. Additionally, MGA will schedule events for major UN gatherings and commissions. Events, such as the Commission on the Status of Women in March, will be listed on our website with more information about how you can RSVP!

MGA staff is also available at the email address below to speak to school groups, conferences, and events.
