Dear Parents and Friends,
Greetings from Johnson Grammar IBDP
In the golden words of Aristotle, “We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence then, is not an act but a habit.” Thus the habit of
excelling even in the smallest actions taken up at the Johnson International Baccalaureate is continued into the second term.
Increased possibilities of experimentation and reinterpretation of the programme is continued into the seventh year and the
very technology that we work with today have changed the work styles in all disciplines. The following newsletter will give our
discerning readers once again a peek into the IB campus. Though a short term, we had plenty to keep us alert. That the aca-
demic focus was the greatest priority is beyond doubt, yet a series of events like the first Science Experientials and the first
Business Model Presentations was hosted this term. The competitions and participations in campaigns and seminars still con-
tinued even as the term end examinations kept staff and students equally busy.
As Christmas vacations heralded the onset of the New Year, wishes and greetings filled the IB corridors, I too wish each one of
our readers brighter days of peace in 2015 for that is all we need to go on!
Warm wishes

JOHNSON IB WORLD SCHOOL News Letter from the Principal’s Desk
Term II Report [2014-15]
Science Experientials:
The Science Department have their own way of making their point and this was seen in the exhibits of experiments put up on 18th October that accelerated science experi-mentation in young minds. Ranging from the Mars Mission simulation of the physics students to the ‘Save, Preserve, Conserve’ thematic approach to environ-mental Chemistry, each exhibit was a viewer’s delight. In its starkly simple but immensely layered way the viscosity changes in New Newtonian fluids and calorie content in potatoes were presented through unique methods. The students also projected extortion of Bio gas through bio waste and chain reaction using simple pendulum amongst others. The students proved their mettle by presenting and clarifying each minute detail that even included advice on weight management and hazards of sugar intake in
soft drinks.

The Science department faculty who believe in the age of reason combined
their academic insight rightly in guiding the stu-dents. Business Model Presen-
tations: Cool and confidant, the IB
students showcased busi-ness models in their defen-sive brand of leadership on November 20. The Fiesto event management team brought in the cheer
of Indian festivals with all its vibrant colours even as the 11th Hour team planned an innovative holi-day package for customers with the catchy tag that
the last hour plans turn out to be the best ones. The Clibronto coffee house created the mood for coffee with the guitar strumming in the background along
with the cake and the cup. The Firande team’s strate-gies to upkeep the tradi-tions of wedding wear saw mannequins display-ing some of the finest de-
signer brands.
Whew! These guys can sell, I say! The students
who came from various city schools spend the day col-lecting information on man-aging marketing, human re-source and finance required for an organisation.

Child Abuse Campaign:
The new agenda that was
brought into our hands
with Dheeraj and Khairavi
attending the video launch
of Believe Me by School
Cinema was taken
forward as a campaign
against child sexual
abuse. The IB students
flagged off the campaign
by first participating in the
U-Cube marathon from
People’s Plaza to necklace
road. The staff, Mrs Rita,
Mrs. Devi and Mrs Gowri
had accompanied the stu-
dents with placards and
banners.
Over a period of two weeks, the campaign con-tinued in an unspoken
way through posters and silent messages all over the campus just to inform silently the lurking depth of the trauma of child abuse. Under staff super-
vision, small one act plays were practised after school hours that could be pre-sented in front of the younger school students. It culminated on November
14 at Johnson Middle school with the young students watching the presentation and plays by IB students on various abuses. A panel constitut-
ing of staff members an-swered a lot of the student queries.
The campaign moves out to
the Zilla Parishad school in the next term as the students there too await our g u i d a n c e i n s u c h sensitive matters and it is our responsibility to guide
them. The CAS initiative will go forth thus spreading the message of care and prudence in sensitive matters.

The Business and Manage-ment Faculty took the stu-
dents to standard Tiles fac-tory which was just not a site visit but an opportunity to view the workings of a factory keeping the con-cerns of society and people
living around in mind. The proprietor Mr Shastri took our students seriously and was ready to answer stu-dent questionnaires that clarified even the financial
statements like Balance Sheet.
