Visit our websites: www.acb2022.org www.facebook.com/nmacbc Albuquerque Concert Band John Sanks, Conductor From its humble beginnings in 1970 as the Albuquerque Municipal Band with 20 people, to its current incarnation with over 80 members, the Albuquerque Concert Band continues the time-honored tradition of sharing free concert band music with Albuquerque’s citizens. The band has performed at the New Mexico Veteran’s Memorial Park, Popejoy Hall, the International Balloon Fiesta, and the Albuquerque Bio Park. The band also performed at the Los Alamos Community Winds Band Festival and Honor Bands, featuring world renowned composer Frank Ticheli. Los Alamos Community Winds Dr. T. Edward (Ted) Vives, Conductor Founded in 2000, the 55-member Los Alamos Community Winds serves the communities of northern New Mexico and has achieved national and international recognition for its excellence in performance as first runner-up for the 2012 American Prize and as the featured ensemble on the November 2010 edition of the international podcast “BrassCast.” LACW performances include four concerts during the regular season as well as performing at various civic functions such as Memorial Day and the 4th of July fireworks celebrations. Santa Fe Concert Band Gregory Heltman, Conductor The Santa Fe Concert Band was formally incorporated in 1983 and has been playing great music for the citizens of Santa Fe ever since. The band started out rehearsing at St. John’s College with about 12 members, and has since grown to over 50 members. The band continues to carry on the long tradition of concert bands in Santa Fe that bring free music to the public. The band has performed at the National Cemetery and Veteran’s Memorial, the Eastside Federal Courthouse Park, and the Lensic Performing Arts Center. Hilton Santa Fe Historic Plaza Hotel Lodging and hosting site for clinics Two blocks from the historic Santa Fe Plaza in downtown Santa Fe, the hotel is within walking distance of amazing cultural attractions like the Palace of the Governors, the Georgia O’Keeffe Museum, the Santa Fe Community Convention Center and fantastic shopping and dining venues.

The Lensic Performing Arts Center The Lensic Performing Arts Center opened in 1931 as a vaudeville stage and movie palace. Today the restored historic theater thrives as the city’s performing arts center, with a diverse, year-round program of world-class theater, music, dance, film and lectures.

Master Class, Clinic, and Concert with the Canadian Brass The world-renowned Canadian Brass, will conduct a master class with the convention band and a special lecture/ demonstration for all attendees. Additionally, the Canadian Brass will also give a performance (separate from the convention) on Friday, May 6, at the Lensic Performing Arts Center, which is next to the convention hotel. The concert will be open to the public with the purchase of a ticket. Convention registrants will be able to purchase discounted tickets.

Guest Conductor Convention Band Christina A. Muncey Captain Christina A. Muncey is a flight commander for The United States Air Force Band, Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling, Washington, D.C. She serves as the Officer-in-Charge of the Concert Band, the Airmen of Note, Productions, and Resources and Supply. Captain Muncey holds a Doctor of Musical Arts in Wind Conducting from the Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University, and two degrees from Colorado State University: a Master of Music degree with a concentration in Orchestral Conducting, and a Bachelor of Music degree in Music Education. Featured Guest Clinician and Artist Harry Watters Jazz Trombonist Harry Watters travels nationally and internationally as a Jupiter Artist. His numerous Summit Records releases include the popular Love Songs and the three critically acclaimed Brothers discs with trumpeter Ken Watters. Watters has performed with Doc Severinsen, Al Hirt, Pete Fountain, Erich Kunzel, Kevin Mahogany, Wycliffe Gordon, Lou Rawls, Maureen McGovern, Bill Watrous, Carl Fontana, Jiggs Whiggam, James Moody, Peter Erskine, Conrad Herwig, John Fedchock and the Boston Brass. In addition, Harry has appeared as a featured soloist with the Syracuse Symphony, the Baton Rouge

Symphony, the Louisiana Philharmonic, the Tulsa Pops, the West Virginia Symphony, the University of North Texas One O'Clock Lab Band, the Janacek Philharmonic, the Moldovan Festival Orchestra and the U.S. Army Orchestra. Guest Soloist and Clinician Dr. Eric Lau, Saxophone Eric Lau is professor of saxophone at the University of New Mexico. Dr. Lau has been featured at both National and Regional North American Saxophone Alliance Conferences as well as with the New Mexico Symphony Orchestra, the University of New Mexico Wind Symphony, and many other institutions. He has given concerts throughout the United States as well as in Europe, Puerto Rico, and Brazil. Guest Soloist and Clinician Dr. Jennifer Lau, Flute Jennifer Robin Lau is Lecturer in Theory and Composition, and teaches Music Appreciation at UNM. She is currently also President of the Albuquerque Flute Association, having served in other positions since 2003. She previously served on the faculties of Texas A&M University-Commerce, Spring Arbor University, Alma College, and the University of Michigan-Flint. While teaching at the University of New Mexico, Dr. Lau has performed with the New Mexico Winds, the New Mexico Symphony Orchestra, Chamber Orchestra of Albuquerque, El Paso Opera, Opera Southwest, and the New Mexico Woodwind Quintet.
