Dear Sisters and Brothers in the Lord, Peace be with you!
May the Risen Lord continue to watch over you, keep you healthy and safe! It has been two months since we assembled in Sacred Heart Church to
celebrate our Eucharistic Liturgy. It seems longer!! I have missed you, your presence and your prayerfulness. The live streaming of Mass just isn’t the same as having your faces and smiles interacting with me at Mass. Right now, live streaming Mass is the best we can do. I hope this time in prayer nourishes your spirit. May you be conscious of everyone, parishioner and visitor, who join you in prayer at 11:00am each Sunday. In the Gospel for this Sixth Sunday of Easter we listen to a passage from Jesus’ farewell address at the Last Supper. Jesus prepares his disciples for his approaching passion and death. I’m sure the thought of Jesus’ death, his not being with them, causes great anxiety and fear in the disciples. Aware of their anxiety, Jesus reassures them that, “I will not leave you orphans.” Jesus speaks of asking the Father to give the disciples “another Advocate to be with you always.” This “Advocate” is the “Spirit of Truth” who “remains with you and will be in you,” says Jesus. The disciples will not be left alone! This message of Jesus directed to his disciples is meant for us also, today’s disciples. Many of us have been unsettled, disturbed, by the pandemic invading our lives. The anxiety felt by the disciples as they anticipate life without Jesus can permeate our spirit as we deal with the restrictions and wonder about the future, not only for ourselves, but for our children. Like the disciples, we know that Jesus will not leave us orphans. The “Spirit of Truth” is with us as we strive to love Jesus in keeping his commandments. Peter, in today’s Second Reading, advises us to treat others with gentleness and reverence. Peter’s advice is meant for ourselves; it begins with treating ourselves
with gentleness and reverence. Be gentle with yourself! Show reverence for yourself by caring for yourself in the midst of caring for others. Be silent! Breathe deeply! Calm your spirit! Relax! Invite Jesus to be with you! Know you are not alone for you are sacred and loved by God. Don’t forget, He is Risen! Be well!

Pope Francis encourages faithful to PRAY THE ROSARY
every day during the month of May for the end of Coronavirus Pandemic!
O Mary, You shine continuously on our journey as a sign of salvation and hope. We entrust ourselves to you, Health of the Sick, who, at the foot of the Cross, were united with Jesus’ suffering, and persevered in your faith.
“Protectress of the Roman people”, you know our needs, and we know that you will provide, so that, as at Cana in Galilee, joy and celebration may return after this time of trial.
Help us, Mother of Divine Love, to conform ourselves to the will of the Father and to do what Jesus tells us. For he took upon himself our suffering, and burdened himself with our sorrows to bring us, through the cross, to the joy of the Resurrection. Amen.
