FEAST OF THE HOLY FAMILY
Reading I: Sirach 3: 2-6, 12-14 Fidelity to the Lord implies many virtues. Chief among them is our duties toward our parents. The traditional blessings are then listed. Reading II: Colossians 3: 12-21 This section is an early baptismal instruction. It describes the Christian community which a new member embraces through his/her baptism. The Gospel: Luke 2: 22, 39-40 This section points out the necessity of the Nazareth years in Jesus’ life. It was there that He grew strong in the full experience of a human nature. In that way, He could bring the Spirit of God into contact with every area of our lives.

ENTRANCE ANTIPHON Luke 2:16
The shepherds went in haste and found Mary and Joseph and the Infant lying in a manger.
PENITENTIAL ACT
I confess to almighty God and to you, my brothers, and sisters, that I have greatly sinned, in my thoughts and in my words, in what I have done and in what I have failed to do, And, striking your breast, say: through my fault, through my fault, through my most grievous fault. Then continue: therefore, I ask blessed Mary ever-Virgin, all the Angels and Saints, and you, my brothers, and sisters, to pray for me to the Lord our God.
FIRST: A READING FROM THE BOOK OF GENESIS
Genesis 15:1-6; 21:1-3
The word of the LORD came to Abram in a vision saying: “Fear not, Abram! I am your shield; I will make your reward very great.” But Abram said, “O Lord GOD, what good will your gifts be, if I keep on being childless and have as my heir the steward of my house, Eliezer?” Abram continued, “See, you have given me no offspring, and so one of my servants will be my heir.” Then the word of the LORD came to him: “No, that one shall not be your heir; your own issue shall be your heir.” The Lord took Abram outside and said: “Look up at the sky and count the stars, if you can. Just so,” he added, “shall your descendants be.” Abram put his faith in the LORD, who credited it to him as an act of righteousness. The LORD took note of Sarah as he had said he would; he did for her as he had promised. Sarah became pregnant and bore Abraham a son in his old age, at the set time that God had stated. Abraham gave the name Isaac to this son of his whom Sarah bore him.
The word of the Lord: R. Thanks be to God.
RESPONSORIAL PSALM Psalm 105:1-2, 3-4, 5-6, 8-9
R. The Lord remembers his covenant forever. Give thanks to the LORD, invoke his name; make known among the nations his deeds. Sing to him, sing his praise, proclaim all his wondrous deeds. R. The Lord remembers his covenant forever. Glory in his holy name; rejoice, O hearts that seek the LORD! Look to the LORD in his strength; constantly seek his face. R. The Lord remembers his covenant forever. You descendants of Abraham, his servants, sons of Jacob, his chosen ones! He, the LORD, is our God; throughout the earth his judgments prevail. R. The Lord remembers his covenant forever. He remembers forever his covenant which he made binding for a thousand generations which he entered into with Abraham and by his oath to Isaac. R. The Lord remembers his covenant forever.
SECOND: A READING FROM THE LETTER TO THE HEBREWS
Hebrews 11:8, 11-12, 17-19
Brothers and sisters: By faith Abraham obeyed when he was called to go out to a place that he was to receive as an inheritance; he went out, not knowing where he was to go. By faith he received power to generate, even though he was past the normal age —and Sarah herself was sterile— for he thought that the one who had made the promise was trustworthy. So it was that there came forth from one man, himself as good as dead, descendants as numerous as the stars in the sky and as countless as the sands on the seashore. By faith Abraham, when put to the test, offered up Isaac, and he who had received the promises was ready to offer his only son, of whom it was said, “Through Isaac descendants shall bear your name.” He reasoned that God was able to raise even from the dead, and he received Isaac back as a symbol.
The word of the Lord: R. Thanks be to God. Page 2 of 4004
A READING FROM THE HOLY GOSPEL ACCORDING TO LUKE
Luke 2:22-40
When the days were completed for their purification according to the law of Moses, they took him up to Jerusalem to present him to the Lord, just as it is written in the law of the Lord, Every male that opens the womb shall be consecrated to the Lord, and to offer the sacrifice of a pair of turtledoves or two young pigeons, in accordance with the dictate in the law of the Lord. Now there was a man in Jerusalem whose name was Simeon. This man was righteous and devout, awaiting the consolation of Israel, and the Holy Spirit was upon him. It had been revealed to him by the Holy Spirit that he should not see death before he had seen the Messiah of the Lord. He came in the Spirit into the temple; and when the parents brought in the child Jesus to perform the custom of the law in regard to him, he took him into his arms and blessed God, saying: “Now, Master, you may let your servant go in peace, according to your word, for my eyes have seen your salvation, which you prepared in sight of all the peoples, a light for revelation to the Gentiles, and glory for your people Israel.” The child’s father and mother were amazed at what was said about him; and Simeon blessed them and said to Mary his mother, “Behold, this child is destined for the fall and rise of many in Israel, and to be a sign that will be contradicted —and you yourself a sword will pierce— so that the thoughts of many hearts may be revealed.” There was also a prophetess, Anna, the daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of Asher. She was advanced in years, having lived seven years with her husband after her marriage, and then as a widow until she was eighty-four. She never left the temple, but worshiped night and day with fasting and prayer. And coming forward at that very time, she gave thanks to God and spoke about the child to all who were awaiting the redemption of Jerusalem. When they had fulfilled all the prescriptions of the law of the Lord, they returned to Galilee, to their own town of Nazareth.
The child grew and became strong, filled with wisdom; and the favor of God was upon him. *The Gospel of the Lord. R. Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ.

Power of Prayer AA Prayer for the Feast of the Holy
Family
Father in heaven, creator of all,
you ordered the earth to bring forth life and crowned its goodness
by creating the family of man. In history's moment when all was ready,
you sent your Son to dwell in time, obedient to the laws of life in our world. Teach us the sanctity of human love,
show us the value of family life, and help us to live in peace with all men that we may share in your life forever.
We ask this through Christ the Lord. Amen.
A Prayer to the Holy Family, for Grace
O most loving Jesus, Who by Thy sublime and beautiful virtues
of humility, obedience, poverty, modesty, charity, patience and gentleness,
and by the example of Thy domestic life, didst bless with peace and happiness the family
Thou didst choose on earth, in Thy clemency look down upon this household, humbly prostrate
before Thee and imploring Thy mercy. Remember that this family belongs to Thee;
for to Thee we have in a special way dedicated and devoted ourselves.
Look upon us in Thy loving kindness; preserve us from danger; give us help in time of need,
and grant us the grace to persevere to the end in the imitation of Thy Holy Family;
that having revered Thee and loved Thee faithfully on earth, we may bless and praise Thee
eternally in heaven. O Mary, most sweet Mother,
to thy intercession we have recourse, knowing that thy Divine Son will hear thy prayers.
And do thou, O glorious Patriarch, St. Joseph, assist us by thy powerful mediation,
and offer, by the hands of Mary, our prayers to Jesus.
Amen.

importance of prayer, and how it enriches spiritual life. Resolve to spend quiet time each day just listening to the voice of God in your heart. Stay

"FEEDING THE HUNGRY"
We had such a great outpouring for the Food Pantry Donations through FBRE’s Corporal Works of Mercy Reflections, that we have decided to
continue collecting food into the new year. We are grateful for our wonderful parishioners, who are
caring and giving of the community. God truly is Great All the Time…
Who wants to be a… Super-Hero…?
St Patrick's is looking for a few interested people to form a fundraising committee. Responsibilities would include planning, coordinating, and implementing fundraising events for the parish. We are continually looking for new, creative, and innovative ways to fundraise. Anyone considering this, should have at least one of the following: the ability to work with others, manage a schedule with multiple events, reach out to others when necessary, always be on the lookout for new ideas AND, most importantly, to experience the satisfaction of working in support of our much-loved parish! Remember, you do not have to have EVERY quality...just one is enough, when working with others. As St. Paul said, we ALL form part of the same body! Call the parish office if you are interested or would like some more information!
Let’s get to it…
A New Year's Prayer
The great thing about having a friendship with God is that there is always the opportunity to start anew - God always offers us a new day and a new dawn, no matter what has gone before. At the start of the New Year, why not take a moment to thank Him for last year, ask His forgiveness for where you have failed, and dedicate this new year to Him - to serve Him and love Him afresh
Lord, You make all things new. You bring hope alive
in our hearts, and cause our Spirits
to be born again. Thank you for this new year, for all the potential it holds.
Come and kindle in us, a mighty flame,
so that in our time, many will see the wonders of God
and live forever to praise Your glorious name.
Amen. Read more at: https://www.lords-prayer-words.com/times/new_year_prayer.html
Behold. I make all things new.
