Save the Date!

A Celebration of Faith Please join your fellow Parishioners for a fun-filled, good old St. Patrick’s Day celebration. It will take place at the Clove Creek Dinner Theatre on Friday, March 13, at 6:00PM. It is a great setting for live performances, and we have a renowned Irish band all lined up – Kitty Kelly and the Catskill Fever. They are sure to get us singing along and tapping our feet! It’s a great way to fundraise for St. Mary’s – and have a fun evening too! Please join us for this special night of community building. Watch your bulletins for further details in the coming weeks. For more information, or to place your reservation, please contact Vicki at 897-5306 or email: [email protected]. Mark your calendars and we hope to see you there!

Come Holy Spirit!

The 47th Annual Pilgrimage and March for Life in Washington, DC is on Friday, January 24, and we need your help to ensure that New York has a strong presence at the March this year. This will be the first March for Life since the passing of the devastating Reproductive Health Act last January. This is an opportunity for us as New Yorkers to make a pilgrimage on behalf of life, praying for our state and our nation. Visit our website for a listing of buses travelling to the March for Life from the Archdiocese of New York, or for more information. If you cannot attend, consider providing financial assistance for a local school so that young people can experience this inspiring event (contact [email protected] for more information).

We also invite you to join us for the Prayer Vigil for Life on January 22nd, at St. Patrick's Cathedral. The Church has designated January 22nd - the anniversary of Roe v. Wade - as a day of prayer for the protection of the unborn and penance for sins against the dignity of the human person.

Self-sacrifice helps all of us put someone in the center of our lives, besides ourselves. Nothing is more Christ-like than voluntary giving. Thank you for yours.

Discovering Christ Embracing Christ

We are the Church and we are proud To proclaim our Faith aloud, To live our lives as morally

As Christ expects our lives to be. This does not mean we’ll never fail,

But it does mean we will prevail. Each time we rise at break of day To meet the world upon our way What we have piously discerned

Through what we do will be confirmed. As we stand firm in unity

To meet each challenge forcefully, We’ll overcome the rising tide

Of Godlessness and great divide. by Ralph Capasso

St. Mary Ministry Programs

The First Five Years – Our next class will be held on Thursday, January 16. We will discuss Ways to Encourage Positive Behavior. See ActiveParenting.org for a list of topics and video clips.

DivorceCare – Forgiveness – The hurt that comes with divorce is a barrier that prevents many people from forgiving their former spouse. This seminar shows you why forgiveness is important and how you can begin the process of forgiving. This 11th session will be held on Tuesday, January 14, from 7 to 9PM, at the Parish Office. See brochure and DivorceCare.org.

GriefShare: From Mourning to Joy – Session 1, Is This Normal? You’ll discover why your grief experience is harder than you imagined; why the intensity and duration of your emotions are normal and appropriate; and despite how you feel right now, there is reason for hope. We will meet on this Thursday, January 16, at 1PM, and repeated at 7PM, in our Chapel on Bedford Avenue. See our Parish website, flyer and GriefShare.org for more information.

RAINBOWS for All Children – This program nurtures a community of effective RAINBOWS-trained facilitators supported with a repository of resources designed to guide youth in their grieving process. We will address the following needs of the children, including the topics of significant illness, death for one group of children and separation because of, separation and divorce, and if needed, incarceration, deployment, and deportation for the second group of children. More information to follow in future bulletins. If interested, please contact Catherine, so that she can be prepared for your children.

These programs are led by Catherine Cwiakala, LMSW, Parenting Ministry Director and Grief Counselor. Informational flyers are on the Parenting Ministry Table in the back of Church and on our parish website. Please call Catherine at 896-6400 for more information and/or to register.)

Catholic Widows and Widowers The Catholic Widows & Widowers of Dutchess & Putnam Counties will meet on January 21st (the third Tuesday of the month), in the Parish Meeting Room at Saint Kateri Church, (1925 Route 82, Lagrangeville). 223-3097.

Divine Mercy Devotions The Divine Mercy Devotions Group meets every Thursday in the Church at 3PM. All are welcome.

Snow or Inclement Weather

REMINDER: As the winter weather continues, we are asking that you use caution in the parking lot areas and along the walks in front of and around the Church. Additionally, we are requesting that you do not park in any of the neighboring driveways, especially the one next to the lower parking lot area, as that is a private driveway and we do not want to block access. Thank you!

Socks for the Needy Community building at its best! Clove Creek Dinner Theater is having a fundraising event at their January and February performances of Barefoot in the Park, written by Neil Simon. They are requesting that all ticket holders donate a new (not used) pair of socks to be donated to our Church and distributed to those in need. This is a wonderful way to have a great evening and support our local dinner theater.
