These services include onsite and offsite upgrade, repair and refurbishment of any OEM's equipment. Framatome ANP is also investing $20 million in a new pump and motor service center in Lynchburg, Virginia to be completed this summer. The new facility will greatly increase the company's capacity for upgrade, refurbishment and maintenance of contaminated nuclear plant pumps, motors and other equipment. The reliability and performance of pumps, seals, and motors is critical for maximizing plant availability as well as extending plant life and facilitating power uprates. Sulzer's vice president of Customer Support Services Bob Bluse said, "Sulzer supplies reliable nuclear grade pumping equipment, repairs, parts and service. Our strength is in technical know-how and expertise in the design and operation of rotating pump equipment". Buddy Jolley, Framatome ANP manager of Pump and Motor Services said, "This agreement allows us to return pumps and motors to better-than-original condition." Loranger, 52, has also been elected to serve on the company's Board of Directors. He joins ITT Industries from Textron where he has served as executive vice president and chief operating officer since 2002, with operating responsibility for all of Textron's manufacturing business units as well as the corporation's Six Sigma. Prior to joining Textron, Loranger spent 21 years at Honeywell, most recently as president and CEO of Honeywell's $5 billion Engines, Systems and Services division. New chief Loranger takes the helm at ITT Abel GmbH has received orders for piston diaphragm pumps to transfer abrasive high density slurry through a 2,5 km long pipeline in North Dakota, USA. Abel manufactures hydraulically driven piston and piston diaphragm pumps for high pressure slurry pumping applications for duties such as long distance ore/tailings pipeline transfer, mine dewatering, autoclave and digester feed. Abel was in competition with multi-stage heavy duty centrifugal slurry pumps that were specified due to their perceived lower purchase price. The heavy duty design of the Abel pump, means it should last four or five times longer than centrifugal pumps doing the same duty. Among other reasons, Abel was awarded the order on the basis of the high efficiency of piston diaphragm pumps and promised lower maintenance costs. Commercial competitiveness also played a factor in the success of the Abel bid. The Colfax Pump Group has purchased Zenith Pumps from Parker-Hannifin Corporation. Zenith manufacturers dosing pumps and pump systems, including control equipment, drives and accessories. In 2004, Colfax sales will be approximately $22 million. The Currently, the Colfax Pump Group achieves nearly 60% of its sales with its German company Allweiler AG. The chemical industry uses Zenith pumps to produce polymers and synthetic fibres. Its pumps move high-viscosity media under high pressure and at high temperatures in addition to abrasive or corrosive media. According the chairman of Allweiler AG and vice president of Colfax Pump Group Klaus Stahlmann, "We plan to achieve strong growth with thanks to our existing positions in strategic markets like plastics, fiberglass, and polymers." The acquisition will allow Allweiler AG to offer complete pump packages for major industries and systems. Power station pumps for China By the of 2005, the KSB Group will equip four 600 MW units of a power station near Beijing with state-of-the-art pump tech- nology. The contract of around 333 million covers 12 glandless boiler recirculation pumps type LUVAc. An integrated wet rotor with a voltage of 1000 each drives the pump sets. The input power per pump is about 400 kW, with operating temperatures ranging at 365°C and discharge pressures at 220 bar. KSB was awarded the contract because it was the company that could produce the largest number of reference installations using high-voltage submersible motors worldwide. AxFlow Holding AB, have sold 25% of the ownership of Meller FlowTrans Ltd to the current management (Mike Clewes and Mike Conway). Meller FlowTrans supplies pumps, compressors, blowers and hydraulic cooling systems for loading and off-loading oil, food chemicals and construction products from tank trucks used by Oil, Chemical, Food and Construction companies. Products vary from gases such as liquid petroleum gas and carbon dioxide, through liquids such as petrol, acid and juices to powders and granules such as cement, flour and plastic pellets. As part of its programme to deliver global support from bases local to customers in every region, John Crane has opened another Customer Support Centre in the Middle East, this time located in Qatar. Following just weeks after the launch of a similar new facility in Saudi Arabia, the new Qatari Centre provides customers in the region with local access to John Crane's support network. Incorporating a workshop and fully trained John Crane engineers, the Centre offers engineering services, failure analysis, refurbishment and static pressure testing, along with a round-the-clock on- site emergency service capability, plus asset management and reliability optimization services. Genuine John Crane spare parts are available from the Centre and can be held on behalf of individual customers. John Crane’s association with Qatar goes back for more than 40 years with over 6000 wet seals and 400 gas seal cartridges installed in the country. UK-based SPP Pumps has received a large order for the Sakhalin LNG project located on Sakhalin Island, Russia. Called Sakhalin II, it is the most technologically advanced of the projects on the Sakhalin Shelf and will export Russia's first Liquefied Natural Gas to the growing economies of Asia. The order covers the supply of six vertical lineshaft firewater and jockey pumps.
