1: Question is: whether the mind is open or whether it is closed, and I would like that our minds be open, because if they are open we will have a richer experience, not only in what we call art, but in what we call life. You see, I think of openmindedness as something that you don't do easily but as a result of discipline, because without discipline the ego tends not to be open, but to have very definite preferences, so that those ego's that are strongest and most closed off from their experiences are the ones that know what they like and know what they dislike.

2: For instance, today at the congress hall, where the performance is to be this evening, when the pianotuner saw there were preparations between the strings of the piano, and when he played some of the keys and heard the sounds that resulted, they were to his ear unmusical and he was very very furious and insulting and I would say that his mind was not open. There he was in the presence of something he had never seen before and instead of being happy to make a discovery, he was furious.
