Streamlined Living is the summer retreat house of a famous Japenese fi lmaker. She has chosen this steep topographic site for ideal conditions of seclusion and privacy. She appreciates minimalism, so the 450 SF house focuses on minimum necessary comforts and is designed so that one continous form provided all the necessities of shelter.

PERSONALIZATIONAND RELEVANCE TO URBAN CONTEXT:The people of Silver Lake are typically a green concious community who enjoy the benifi ts of sustainability and are willing to go the extra mile to make a difference. My community “Grower’s Paradise” would attract local residents who are interested in growing their own food right in their own home. The community could then share this powerful idea by hosting Farmer’s Markets to the greater community of Silver Lake.

Western Heights Elementary is a a K-5 school designed to enrich children’s learning by arranging all classrooms in an east-west orientation that consistently provides light during all times of the day due to a partially glazed center parti wall between classrooms. Designed through rigid intersecting geometry, the structure and circulation are one and the same. The building also includes nature within the large atriums that puncture through the building by allowing the lawns of the children’s play area to fl ow into the interior of this monolithic structure.

Teatro sul Fiume is a design solution project for improving the urban fabric of Firenze. My project “Teatro Sul Fiume” is a proposal for the Arno River site that would incorporate designed landscape and a theatre house looking out to the water. The project aims to improve the connection of existing green spaces along the water while introducing a program that will attract large numbers of people to the river site, re-establishing a long lost connection with the river. The theatre projects itself out to the water and people are able to walk above the waterline: on the pier, or on the building’s roofscape, with the ultimate goal of redefi ning people’s experience with the river as they know it today.

san donnino incineratorThe masterplan and new water treatment plan program the site to utilize the Arno River for district water heating of the communities of San Donnino and Florence. The incinerator is renovated into a water heating facility and technology museum describing the site’s history. A building used for 10 short years to burn trash was quickly decommissioned and stood as a scar to the landscape, but now proclamis its adaptive re-use as a productive contributor to the city’s energy needs.

THE WORLDCLASS GREEN GOLF RESORT WiTH BROWN FAiRWAYSAND HOST OF THE JOSHUA TREE NATiONAL GOLF TOURNAMENT
The Golf Course consists of a professional 18 hole course on grassless terrain. A golfer will carry his own piece of astroturf to tee off of, and will use biodegradable golfballs that dissolve within 96 hours if they are submerged in water. The Orange Line provides solar powered golf carts for transportation to resort guests around the golf course and around the resort.
Eagle Mountain Road will allow visitor entry from Interstate 10 to parking headquarters located at the entry. Guests can travel through town or the resort via solar powered golf carts.
EERLESS GREENSEERLESS GREENS
Existing Roads will remain intact, however any new additional paths for golfcart access will be made of the permeable material: porous asphalt. Consisting of large aggregate particles, porous asphalt can handle frequent traffic usage and allows for the tran-spiration of water and air through the material; protecting natural watershed processes.
Water Soluble Golfballs Dissolve Completely in 96 Hours
Solar powered golf cars recharge a third faster and use a third less energy than conventional cars.
The Golf Resort would reuse 59 existing homes of Eagle Mountain located adjacent to the resort development to become part of the resort’s resident’s homes and weekend-stay vacationer’s accomodations. These standard 1,2, or 3 bedroom homes would be refurbished to modern living condition and would include the additions of solar-paneled roofs for individual energy consumption and leech line appropiation of waste control.

ELEVATIONS OF PADS
The Landscape Revitalization Project consists of a research facility within the Outpost devoted to the research of surrounding soil and cultivation of native plants. The plants would be grown in a nursery adjacent to the outpost, and transplanted into the resort’s golfscape, revitalizing the barren terraces (a result of the ore production where excavated dirt was removed from the mine pits and re-formed on the Eastern perimeter of the town).

Landmarks within the site will be located on the route of the tour. Some highlights of the tour will include the mining operation, and mines, the original trainstation, the nursery of our research center, the homes still standing in the town, hiking trails to the south of the town, and the shopping center which later converted into a low security prison.
Resort Ammenities would include a sustainable spa encompassing regenerative spa design. Customer demand for spa facilities is growing, making this a great addition to our resort, especially to bolster the economy of our facility. Spa construction would consist of local materials and the idea of the spa is to use water as the core mediator between mind, body and, spirit. The spa facilities would be located on the south side of Eagle Mountain Truck Route in the building to the left, and the building the right would include the registration and lobby to the resort.
Enjoy a resort experience when you come to watch the Joshua Tree National Golf Tournament, in partnership with the PGA tour, for an event played on Peerless Green’s eco-logically friendly course.

Famous for being a grassless course, where you have to carry around a patch of synthetic grass to tea off on and where the "greens" are oiled to stop the sand from blowing away. Other grass-less courses in desert climates can be found in Qatar and the United Arab Emirates.

We hope you will enjoy the opportunity to get close to the world's best golfers.
The clubhouse’s viewing stadium will provide the best views of the fairways and of the 18th hole located on our newly developed skin shell ter-rain that serves to finish the golf experience on artificial terrain that keeps the resevoir water cool and protected from evaporation.
Golf Etiquette -Stay quiet and stand still when the play-ers are about to hit the ball. -"Hands in the air" means stop and be quiet while golfers are playing their shots. -Never cross fairways, except at designated crossover areas marked by signage. -Help patrons be considerate of each other and kneel or sit down whenever possible, to allow better viewing for those behind you. -For your own safety, follow the directions of the tournament marshals. -Spectators will be removed immediately without warning for: -Distracting or embarrassing a player. -Making rude, vulgar, or other inappropri-ate comments or gestures toward a player -Booing or cheering at inappropriate times.
Proposed railway would split existing track to serve two functions. The Green Line would bring visitors in from Los Angeles and Riverside County. It would stop at a new Train-station where the Yellow Line becomes part of a guided tour of Eagle Mountain. The tour con-sists of two modes of transportation: a train ride throught the Southwest perimeter of town, and solar-powered golfcarts that travel through town and the mine.

The Outpost
The Outpost is located in an existing reservoir ad-jacent to the golf course and just north of the town’s residence zone (on the North side of Kaiser Truck Route). Cooling Towers projecting out of the resevoir provide the main support for the building so that it hovers above the resevoir water and artificial golfscape (the skinshell). Sustainable features of the building include Cooling Towers for passive cooling, water walls in an exterior courtyard for outdoor pas-sive cooling, thermal mass flooring in the viewing rooms for passive heating, Photovoltaic panels as an alternative energy source, trombe roof for passive heating, and Grey water reuse systems.

The SkinShell For a building that utilizes water as its main resource for sustainability, the outpost is built in a resevoir. Water is pumped from an underground aquifer into the resevoir. To prevent the water in the resevoir from evaporating, a skin shell golf terrain covers the water while providing the golfscape for the last part of hole 18’s fairways.
The Program The program of the building is a combination of three needs considered for the outpost: A visitor center, a golf clubhouse, and a research center. The visitor center addresses historical documentation of Eagle mountain and provides tours of the town via solar powered golfcarts. The Golf clubhouse addresses the grassless golfcourse and provides excellent stadium viewing for the Joshua Tree National Golf Tournament. The Research Center grows native plants in an adjacent nursery and plants them in the golf fairways to provide landscaping and rehabilitate the landscape.

Cooling tower Air Ducts Air is pumped through overhead air ducts after it has passed through the cooling tower process: Air ventilates down the towers and is cooled as water is misted from the top because the heat of the air is transferred to the water.

Coreslab Precast and Cal Poly Pomona teamed up to provide a studio competition for a proposed metrolink station at Temple Ave in Pomona Ca. Student commuter traffi c alone justifi es the need for a public transit stop in this location. The challenge was to create new and exciting ways of constructing pre-cast concrete kit-of-parts into repeatable building structures. Our team’s proposal consisted of 25 unique pre-cast pieces that offer a multitude of diversity when assembled: From sloping fl oor plates to designed skylight relief patterns to asymmetric pedestrian bridges, the system allowed for an uncommon beauty in rigid part kit design constraints.

To help aLoft’s guests socialize in the Re:Mix Lounge the “aLoft Icebreaker” introduces the idea of breaking personal space boundaries; for example, the lounger’s form invites two people to bump knees as they engage in conversation. The intention to break natural space boundaries, allows for more oppertunity to meet someone new, engage in casual conversation, and possibly make a new friend. The ergonomic form is made with LG’s Lucent Opal material and chartreuse memory foam inviting guests to feel oddly comfortable in the presence of new company. Sometimes we could all use an Icebreaker.

After evaluating the Port of Los Angeles we integrated our individual inspirations of; composition and decomposition, symbiosis of industry and nature, multiple horizons and coral tower formations into a new proposed system of atoll horizons. Atoll towers, each with categorized program elements of industrial, entertainment, residential, and exploration use, serve to extend the horizons of the harbor into the unknown ocean depths.

AT The Edge of E mission es3
danger - death = thrill The exploration pods at the Edge of Eden provide one of the most exciting challenges of a lifetime. Given only two days to train at the Edge of Eden Base Camp, you are given survival gear, hunting equipment, and an exploration pod to share with up to 3 other team members. The mission involves a one way sky transport to the unknown ocean abyss. You are then required to traverse multiple ocean depths, collect marine samples, and eventually return upon your own accord.
For people that live to seek thrills, this is the ultimate challenge, the only question is: can you make it back alive?
