In 1993 the girl next door moved in . . . a friendship between us developed over several years, until John asked me to date him in 1999. Eleven years later on the 21 May 2010, John romantically proposed on Chapman’s Peak.

On this day I married my best friend.

Lord Jesus, even as we put our arms around one another would Youplease put Your arms around us. We pray that nothing will come between us but You and Your Word. No person, no thing. And so Lord we pray that You will help us to use our words, attitudes and actions only to build each other up, not to break each other down, and if we should fail to do so today please help us to forgiveone another even as You in Christ Jesus have forgiven us. In Jesus name and for His Honour. Amen

Olivia: As your older sister, I’ve always tried to protect you and shield you from harm. Looking at you and my new ‘braai-meester’ brother-in-law John, today, I’ve realised that you now have some-one to take over that job from me. I am so proud of the woman you have grown to be and I’m so happy to share this day with you. To my little sister Meagan, keep smiling.

Bianca: John and Meagan are calm and considerate; eagerly attentive to the needs of others; bringing light to those around them; generous; compassionate; wicked sense of humour.

Meagan: John and I have always been different, so it was fitting for us to have an unconven-tional wedding. One that does not follow trends but embraces all the aspects of a traditional wedding. Our view was not to focus on the trimmings and drama of the wedding day, but to focus on getting the basics right for laying a firm foundation for ourmarriage that lies ahead.

jOHN: Finally after 12 years it has brought us to this special day . . .

SHAUN: John en Meagan baie geluk, julle lyk sogelukkig.

Ten commandments for marriage

1. Thou shalt not take your partner for granted.2. Thou shalt not expect perfection of each other.3. Thou shalt be patient, loving, understanding, kind and true.4. Thou shalt tend the garden of love daily.5. Thou shalt take great care that thy partner’s trust is never violated or diminished in any way.6. Thou shalt not forget the wedding vows, remembering especially those important words: “For better or worse.”7. Thou shalt not hide thy true feelings. Mutual love provides a bright sunlit room where things of the heart can be discussed freely and without fear.8. Thou shalt always respect each other as individuals. Degrading words and a sharp tongue cause grave distortions. 9. Thou shalt give thy marriage room to grow. Both partners should be willing to face the future together with confidence and trust. Today is a better day for them than yesterday, and tomorrow will find them closer still.10. Thou shalt, through all thy days, reverence God, thy Creator and Father, never forgetting that it is he who made you and loves you.

If it hurts too much to look back, but you`re too scared to look ahead,

just look beside you and

I`ll be there.

Dance as though no one is watching you, Love as though you have never been hurt before,

Sing as though no one can hear you, Live as though Heaven is on earth.
