Led faculty team generating outcomes and assessments for College General Education Requirements (Pathways) and departmental major to ensure learning outcomes were being met.

Compiled assessment reports for department and college’s administration.

Led Adelante! Program - aimed at retention of Latina/o and low income students at our Hispanic Serving Institution and gather related data on comparative Latina/o student retention.

2015 – Present American Civil Liberties Union End Mass Incarceration Fellow – Sabbatical License 2015-2016

Co-Principal Research Investigator for the ACLU of Puerto Rico Prison Project.

Work with ACLU attorneys and interns on Prison Project data compilation.

Conduct primary research on Puerto Rico’s Correctional Facilities.

Compile data and work to generate a report on the status of human and civil rights of Puerto Rico’s prisons, prison inmates, formerly incarcerated persons and their families.

Supervised advanced undergraduate students participating in Research Methods course on domestic violence investigations.

Trained students to create research instruments, data collection and interpretation of domestic violence crimes with a focus on Puerto Rico, but including Latin American and Caribbean.

Led research study of Puerto Rico Court’s handling of domestic violence cases under Law 54 with permission granted by the Puerto Rico Administrative Office of the Courts.

Co-supervised law students studying alternative sentencing program for first time aggressors of domestic violence entitled “Desvio”.

Observed monitoring systems utilized by Department of Corrections to track domestic violence aggressors. Interviewed Department of Correction’s CEO and other high level staff.

Gathered research information on monitoring systems and “Desvio” program.

Provided community trainings to Carolina/San Juan counties on domestic violence and international human rights law.

Conducted group interviews on domestic violence in Puerto Rico, police handling of domestic violence cases, and domestic violence protections for LGBTQ community.

Co-taught law school seminar to law students entitled Vulnerable Populations.

Led domestic violence research investigation, developed research instrument, and observed proceedings at specialized domestic violence courts around the island.

Conducted 150+ research interviews with jurists, scholars, victims, NGOs, local governmental office and law enforcement officials, and federal officials.

Engaged judges about cases observed, and followed cases from their initial filings to trial.

Participated in interviews with attorneys in special domestic violence cases and observed legal development of high profile domestic violence cases.

Conducted similar interviews with NGOs and community-based organizations as well as with prosecutors and defense attorneys.

Documented legal arguments and recorded outcomes of legislative proceedings. Participated in related academic conferences.

Supervised law/undergraduate students on promoting educational awareness campaigns to build tolerance in local communities.

Examined newly elected governor’s signing of bill into law which provided protection for same sex couples under Law 54, the existing domestic violence law in Puerto Rico.

Interviewed Head of Puerto Rico Police Department’s Domestic Violence Division and officers regarding Federal Police Monitor’s Case file by the US government against PRPD.
