Job Description Job Title: Mechanical Engineer (Rides and Attractions) Responsible to: Technical Manager Job Type: Permanent Hours: 42 Office Base: Margate, Kent Main purpose of job: The role of Mechanical Engineer is to work within the Technical Services Department, which in turn is responsible for maintaining the strategic and daily operational plans for the Rides & Attractions in Dreamland, including a robust Rides Maintenance program. The role is suited to a recently qualified engineer. Main Duties and Responsibilities: Understands and follow all company policies and procedures. Adheres to the daily inspections regime in a timely, safe manner, ensuring all rides and attractions are ready for handing over to the operations team. The aim will be to achieve a 95%+ up down time for all the rides and attractions during park opening hours. Works under the guidance and instruction of the duty Chief Engineer/Senior Mechanical Engineer

• Works under the guidance and instruction of the duty Chief Engineer/Senior Mechanical Engineer

• Reports on all mechanical faults, defects etc. to the Senior Mechanical Engineer and/or Technical Manager and carries out necessary adjustments and repairs as instructed in a timely manner.

• Actively responds, under the guidance of the Senior Mechanical Engineer, to Rides & Attractions downtime calls while on-duty. Assist the Operations team with Ride Evacuations and Emergencies as needed and/or direct specialized evacuation procedures where technical support may be needed and proactively communicate with the Operations team in regard to emergencies, statuses, and all other situational requirements.

• Ensures all Ride & Attraction equipment are maintained to the highest levels of

safety in accordance with H&S Policies, accepted ride manufacturing practices, O & M manuals and the specific requirements of the amusement device inspection procedures scheme (ADIPS) and HSE guidance document HSG 175 (Fairground & Amusement Parks Guidance on Safe Practice). Carries out preventative maintenance, reporting any causes for concern/future maintenance issues, which could lead to potential problems and down time on the rides and attractions, to the duty Senior Electrical Engineer.

• In conjunction with the Technical Services Team, maintain the workshops various

areas, machinery and plant. To build a stock of spare parts for all rides and attractions, which may involve some workshop fabrication, with the aim of achieving the <2% down time goal.

• As directed, attend any training i.e. H & S, plant, manufacturer’s workshops etc.

All relevant information gained to be shared with the Technical Services Team.

• Under the guidance of the duty Senior Mechanical Engineer prepare rides for ADIPS inspection as set out in the maintenance program and undertake and document any remedial identified within the time frame and specification stated by the ADIPS Certification Engineer.

• Understand and interpret technical drawings, schedules, technical specifications

and schematics and actively improve proficiency and comprehensive understanding of individual ride and attraction systems throughout the park.

• Assist in the creation and upkeep of statutory H&S records under the guidance of the Senior Electrical Engineer (in such areas as COSHH, LOLER, and Working at Heights etc).

• Performs other duties as assigned.

The above list is not exhaustive, due to the park needs individuals may be required to carry out additional duties. To ensure maximum efficiencies within the park, flexibility is essential. Individuals will be required to assist in other areas. Person Specification

Essential Desirable

• A recognised qualification in mechanical engineering.

• Attention to detail • Ability & willingness to work overtime,

weekends and holidays with short notice. • Organised, methodical and able to work to

deadlines and targets.

• Demonstrable formal Health and

Safety training. • First Aid • IPAF • Telehandler/forklift licence • Microsoft Office User • A recognised qualification in
