JOB POSTING OUTREACH COORDINATOR
Employment Type: Fixed term employment contract Contract Dates: Starts July 4, 2016, ends October 14, 2016 Hours: Varying throughout contract. Estimated average of 10 hours per week in July, 24 hours
per week in August, 20 hours per week in September and 10 hours per week in October. Involves evenings and weekends, especially during the festival
Reporting to: Marketing & Communications Manager Supervising: N/a Salary/fee: $4,300 flat for contract The Calgary International Film Festival’s Mission To entertain and engage audiences by curating the most innovative and compelling films, and creating remarkable festival experiences. The Festival is a 12-day showcase of up to 200 multi-genre films from Canada and over 40 other countries, hosting gala events, screenings, award ceremonies and special presentations. Additionally, CIFF co-presents other programs, such as Doc Soup, throughout the year. Role The Outreach Coordinator grows and diversifies the festival audience and fosters longer-term community relationships by planning and executing targeted communications, promotions and campaigns that connect specific community groups, associations, businesses and clubs to relevant festival films. Responsibilities
• Prior to the festival: o Building a database of community groups, especially those with a possible
interest in specific films planned for the upcoming festival o Developing a plan for ticket giveaways in consultation with the Marketing
Manager and Social Media Coordinator o Planning communications and promotions to targeted community groups o Working with the Volunteer Coordinator in advance to recruit an appropriate
number of volunteers to assist in executing community outreach activities, and overseeing these volunteers
o Working with the Marketing Manager to develop and execute promotions including special offers, promo codes, promo booth locations, etc.
o Executing planned community outreach activities, and reviewing plans daily to update priorities as necessary based on sales reports and other factors
o Overseeing the festival guide distribution plan and liaising with the Logistics Coordinator to ensure delivery of guides to locations both before and during the festival
• During the festival: o Working with the social media coordinator, marketing manager and box office
to facilitate all contests and ticket giveaways o Being present at screenings where large community group attendance is

expected, to meet attendees and deepen relationships • After the festival:
o Following up with community groups and other partners to thank them and further build relationships
• Providing detailed post mortem notes and archived files (hard and electronic) relevant to the position and the work accomplished following the festival
Qualifications
• Outstanding collaborator and team player • At least two years of professional experience in marketing, community relations or
business development/outreach • Innovative and creative thinking to create and execute marketing and promotional
campaigns • The ability to learn quickly, especially as regards the festival’s programming, so as to be
an effective representative to community groups and other key partners • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written • Personable, sociable and comfortable acting as a festival ambassador • Excellent administrative and organizational skills, including a keen eye for detail • Ability to prioritize tasks in a deadline-oriented, fast-paced environment • Adaptable to a flexible work schedule, including some evenings and weekends
