MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Required Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from an accredited institution
of higher education; holds a valid Registered Nurse (R.N.) License
issued by the West Virginia Board of Examiners Successful completion
of an accredited School Nursing Program by end of June 2008. Trained
with specific substance abuse or willing to be trained.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
The School Nurse shall have the following responsibilities and duties:
1. Plan, develop and implement programs that facilitate health services for students.
2. Gather and interpret data relevant to health services for students
3. Provide health to students
4. Collaborate with other school personnel and parents/guardians to coordinate the delivery of health services
to students.
5. Communicate effectively.
6. Perform routine vision, hearing, scoliosis, dental and general health screenings.
7. Monitor specific programs related to the health needs of students.
8. Participate in child abuse referrals.
9. Perform other health related inspections and appraisals as needed.
10. Monitor student immunization for new school enterers.
11. Maintain permanent health records.
12. Interpret and advise on student medical records.
13. Make appropriate medical referrals.
14. Assist classroom teachers with growth and development instruction for the appropriate grade levels.
15. Conduct home visits as requested.
16. Develop and implement the nursing care plans for students with major health problems.
17. Serve on Student Assistance Program teams as requested.
18. Serve on Individual Education Plan teams as requested.
19. Maintain professional work habits.
20. Maintain and upgrade professional skills.
21. Enter and maintain WVEIS Health Records.
22. Delegation of tasks to appropriately trained personnel for day to day care of students.
23. Conduct intervention with regard to substance abuse.
Perform other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor.

1. Provides intervention mainly in class in the areas of reading and math for targeted students based upon need derived from data.
2. Works collaboratively with classroom teachers to co-teach in the areas of reading and math based on need and data.
3. Maintain flexible hours to provide before, during, or after school interventions as needed. 4. Consult with parents and teachers on a timely basis. 5. Serve as a member of the school level team for Support for Personal Learning. 6. May pull out students for services on a very limited basis for intensive intervention. (Tier 3) 7. Leads parent programs during the school year under the principal’s supervision. 8. Utilize instructional strategies based on scientific research that strengthens the core academic
program.
9. Assist with school level strategic planning, and including but not limited to review and approval of Parent Involvement Policy, annual Parent Surveys, and School Parent Compacts, and an annual meeting providing parents ways to assist their children in school.
10. Responsible for preparing for monitoring annually. 11. Assist with and participate in high quality professional learning activities. 12. Participate in overall needs assessment of the school for improvement. 13. Attend district level Title I meetings. 14. Any other related Title I items assigned by school or district administrators. 15. Differentiate instruction based on data. 16. Review data to make instructional decisions to address student weaknesses. 17. Collaborate with classroom teachers (s) for instructional planning and delivery based on
students’ needs.

POSITION DESCRIPTION FOR THE POSITION OF Substitute SPEECH/LANGUAGE PATHOLOGIST
The substitute speech/language pathologist is responsible for the implementation and quality of instruction required by students with communication disorders as designated by federal, state, and county policies working under the direction of the speech/language pathologist.
