Purpose

The primary purpose is to assist the General Counsel with the provision of legal advice to all areas of the business. The General Counsel provides a broad range of legal services to internal teams mainly focusing on commercial agreements. In addition the role will require assisting the Strategy Group in understanding legal, industry and regulatory change in order to mitigate risk and highlight opportunities to the company. There will be some opportunity to get involved in regulatory matters.

Key Responsibilities

Providing legal advice and assistance to all areas of the business including: drafting, review and negotiation of customer contracts, supplier contracts, agency agreements, white label agreements and other agreements material to the business; development and implementation of new product offerings, including new contractual terms; customer queries and contractual disputes; new corporate business proposals/ventures. Legal compliance in relation to all activities of the business e.g. data protection

Responsible for assisting the General Counsel with drafting, reviewing and negotiating a broad range of high value commercial contracts including OJEU tendered contracts.

Working with the General Counsel and regulatory team on all Ofgem compliance matters affecting the company and assisting with regulatory lobbying efforts.

Company Secretary (for eight group companies) and similar administrative duties (e.g. Data Protection filings).

Advising in relation to customer service issues, property related matters and other general legal issues.
