JOB DESCRIPTION Post: Employability Advisor Responsible to: Day Services Manager Salary: SP27 Fixed - £ 22,861 per annum pro-rata Hours of work: Up to 37.5 hrs – to be worked as the service requires, including evening work Pension: 6% of annual salary paid by RAMH + 2% paid by Employee Travel expenses Currently 45p per mile Job Summary: The main objective of the RAMH East Renfrewshire Employability Advisor is to develop and deliver an Employability service that reflects the “Employability Pathway” needs of people living in the East Renfrewshire area. The main focus of the RAMH worker will be to focus on the difficulties encountered by individuals who experience Mental Health issues as a barrier to employment. Service delivery should reflect a comprehensive employability programme that will meet the needs of participants who are perceived as furthest removed from the labour market, to support people to become job ready, or to support people who are in employment and experiencing mental health problems and other associated barriers to employment. The Employability Advisor will have responsibility for engaging with all RAMH services and staff teams to promote the Scottish Government and East Renfrewshire employment strategies through the ‘Employment & Recovery Pathway’, and will be working directly with clients from initial engagement through to reaching and sustaining their chosen occupational, educational, training or volunteering destinations. Post: Employability Advisor

Job Summary:

Responsibilities:

1. To support the implementation of the Scottish Government and East Renfrewshire employment strategies programmes within East Renfrewshire.

2. To work directly with individuals who experience mental health and associated barriers as they progress towards employment.

3. To develop positive, respectful and supportive relationships with service users.

4. To offer appropriate adult guidance and inform individuals of current ‘labour marker trends’ and realistic opportunities.

5. To liaise with and have a presence within RAMH teams to promote this service and ‘employability’ as a whole and to ensure all RAMH clients have access to this service.

6. To identify and refer individuals to other supportive agencies within and out-with RAMH to meet their specific needs and to increase their awareness of other supports and opportunities within their communities.

7. To carry a caseload of clients and engage clients in a comprehensive assessment to

identify their individual needs.

8. To offer/facilitate a range of interventions/supports to assist individuals’ progress towards employment e.g. 1-1 interventions, action plans, group work, peer support, tasters, etc.

9. To be proactive and innovative in assisting individuals’ to make that change from being ‘furthest removed from the labour market’ to being ‘socially’ and ‘economically’ inclusive by offering positive activity options, personal development/pre-vocational group work programmes.

10. To support the development of self-efficacy/advocacy/empowerment skills with service users.

11. To be proactive with placement providers, employers and education/training establishments in developing support plans to enable successful outcomes for clients.

12. To liaise with associated local and national services, employers, further education and training providers. To build networks with these to promote the work, values and ethos of RAMH and Employability Service to them in the interest of our service users. This may also include colocation with other teams.

13. To contribute to the East Renfrewshire (Community Planning Partnership) model for integration of local employability services.

14. To keep rigorous records using identified systems, this would include service and stakeholder evaluation and monitoring service user outcomes.

15. To maintain close working relationships with partner organisations and other stakeholders including agreed protocols and communication channels.

16. To contribute to continuously upgrading and developing service provision to meet current changes and that of service users’ needs.

17. To continue to develop and support volunteers and peer worker within RAMH.

18. To provide support and supervision to others as directed by line manager.

19. To continue to work as part of the integrated Day service provision in East Renfrewshire

20. To deliver training to RAMH staff and external agencies as directed by service managers.

21. To uphold the RAMH Equal Opportunities policy.

22. To adhere to RAMH Health & Safety policy and procedures at all times.

23. To undertake other duties as required by the developing nature of the service and the service managers.

Employability Advisor – Up to 37.5 hours

QualificationsEssential Desirable

SVQ Level 3 in relevant area or equivalent

Experience

Work in field of employment, training or the ability to show knowledge and awareness of barriers related to Mental Health

Experience of Group work
