POSITION SUMMARY Reporting to the Manager of Arts and Culture, the Box Office Attendant is responsible for selling tickets, handling cash and providing customer service to attendees of the Gravenhurst Opera House.

JOB TITLE: Events / Recreation Program Assistant (Student) REPORTING TO: Community Recreation Coordinator & Director of Recreation Arts & Culture PRIMARY PURPOSE OF JOB:

- Assist in the implementation, supervision and evaluating of quality events and programs including external events, tournaments and leagues on municipal properties

- Assist with the development and implementation of marketing and promotion material and plans in co-ordination with the Community Recreation Coordinator and the Manager of Recreation,

- Report to the Community Recreation Coordinator and the Manager of Recreation NORMAL ENTRANCE QUALIFICATIONS:

- Attending post secondary education or a current graduate in event management, recreation and leisure or equivalent an asset

- Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Access and Power Point, desktop publishing

- Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment - Outstanding customer service skills and professionalism - Excellent and effective oral and written communication skills - Ability to demonstrate initiative and excellent organizational skills - Requires a flexible work schedule (evening and weekend programs, meetings and

KEY ASSIGNMENTS:

1. Assist the Direct of Recreation Arts & Culture as staff liaison between event organizers with special events and activities. Ensure proper protocols and safety requirements are appropriate communicated to event organizers. Liaise with user groups, bylaw, and other relevant staff with the set up and assist with checking in with organizers during the event. Report any situations, problems or concerns and communicate to Manager of Recreation.

2. Assist the Community Recreation Coordinator with the implementation of a variety of community initiatives and programs and where required, organize and lead activities.

3. Promote and stimulate program participation, providing guidance and role modeling

to instructors and volunteers. Monitor programs, services and activities to ensure

safety of participants, quality in programs. Collect and submit completed program/activity reports and evaluations.

4. Assist with planning, organization and promotion of recreation programs and events.

DESCRIPTION OF ACTIVITIES: I. Work in conjunction with, but not limited to the Community Recreation Coordinator and

Director of Recreation Arts & Culture to assist in the implementation, supervision and evaluating of quality events and programs by providing supervision to programs and events. Ensuring facilities and activities are safe and appropriate equipment is in place.

II. Communicate any issues, problems or concerns to the Director of Recreation Arts &

Culture and when necessary complete a written report when necessary. Work collaboratively with other department and professionally with other departments, staff and community partners.

III. Identify and solicit in-kind sponsorships for programs and events including

tournaments and leagues. Assist with marketing program and activities as needed. IV. Follow all Health and Safety guidelines and adhere to worker responsibilities. V. Assist with the development and creation of special project and events. Assist

Position Title: Landscape Maintenance and Special Events Crew (Student Position) Area/Department: INFRASTRUCTURE SERVICES – PARKS DIVISION Reports to: Public Works and Operations Foreman or designate

POSITION SUMMARY To provide general landscape and maintenance labour services to municipal parks, trails, gardens and public properties as well as cemeteries as needed. To provide general labour for special event set-ups & take-downs and perform required park maintenance and customer service during events.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITES

1. Perform daily maintenance of public washrooms including cleaning, disinfecting, stocking and minor repairs.

2. Perform daily garbage removal from the downtown core, parks & wharf, as well as litter picking as required.

3. Perform turf maintenance including mowing, trimming, raking, aerating, seeding, fertilizing and laying sod.

4. Perform garden and landscape maintenance including weeding, watering, planting, pruning as well as applying and working soil, compost, mulch and fertilizers.

5. Perform regular ball diamond, tennis court, beach & playground maintenance and repairs.

6. Assist with the transporting and storage of sporting and recreation equipment and lining playing field.

7. Work at various events and recreation programs when additional staff is required, Demonstrate positive interaction and a caring attitude toward children, youth, adults, and seniors, and a high level of customer service to residents, visitors, and special event organizers.

8. Perform hiking trail maintenance including grooming, brushing, branch removal, structure repair and signage.

9. Perform minor maintenance, repairs and painting of structures & site furnishings, as well as perform preventative maintenance on tools and equipment.

10. Operate and use vehicles and small equipment including pick-up trucks, trailers and 1-ton trucks with dump box; riding mowers, push mowers, line trimmers, ATV & utility ORV, water pump, backpack blower, rototiller, hedge trimmer, pressure washer, hand tools and other related equipment.

Position Title: Marina Gas Bar Attendant (Seasonal Position) Area/Department: INFRASTRUCTURE SERVICES – Public Works Division Reports to: Fleet Foreman or Designate

POSITION SUMMARY Responsible to safely and efficiently carry out the day to day requirements for the administration, maintenance and daily operations of the Muskoka Wharf Marina Gas Bar. Act as a Tourism Ambassador, welcoming visitors and the general public in a friendly and courteous manner and to provide tourist information when requested.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITES

1. Operate all aspects of the Marina in a safe, secure and efficient manner. 2. Open/close the Marina/Gas Bar and provide customers with fueling and sanitary pump out

service. 3. Take fuel tank dips and daily pump readings. 4. Perform debit/credit transactions, including end of shift transaction balancing, and keep

records secure. 5. Assist customers requiring docking needs. 6. Keep Marina office, washroom(s) and ground areas clean and maintained to ensure the

buildings, docks and property are tidy, clean and professional in appearance. 7. Ensure all equipment is kept in good condition and that preventative measures are carried

out and documented. 8. Attend training and development as required. 9. Assist other Town employees in daily maintenance and operations as required; 10. Disposition of the offences may be by way of warnings or prosecuting offenders through the courts in accordance with the Provincial Offences Act. Will co-operate with all other law enforcement agencies. Will assist the Manager of By-Law Services in his day-to-day duties and will undertake other duties as assigned. Will assist the Level 2 officer. WORK DEMANDS: Requires knowledge of by-laws and Council and Departmental Policies. Must maintain a visible presence to minimize breaches of the law. Ability to gain co-operation and support of the business community and the citizens generally. Must work with court officials to obtain due process and give evidence as required. Must have tact and the ability to communicate, mediate, and display good judgment during disputes. Need to maintain outgoing, positive, and fair but firm outlook. Foot patrol and the ability to drive a motor vehicle are required. POSITION SUMMARY The Office Assistant – Fire and Emergency Services is responsible for being the first point of contact for all customers attending or contacting the fire department headquarters, operating a multi-line telephone system, directing calls, directing or providing assistance to visitors, and providing clerical and other administrative support to the Fire and Emergency Services department.

POSITION TITLE: WATERFRONT - LEAD HAND DEPARTMENT: Recreation, Arts & Culture

REPORTS TO: Community Recreation Coordinator & Manager of Recreation Services

RATE OF PAY: $15.00 - $16.87 per hour

HOURS OF WORK: 35 hours/week (Pending Budget Approval) Hours may vary depending on weather conditions & participant numbers.

WORK LOCATION: Gull Lake Rotary Park & Gravenhurst CC on occasion

POSITION SUMMARY Assist the Community Recreation Coordinator in the planning and overseeing the waterfront aquatic program and the day-to-day operations of the waterfront while ensuring a safe park and beach environment for patrons.

DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Supervise Summer Waterfront Team in Lifeguarding and Instruction of programs 2. Effectively communicate with staff, Recreation Coordinator and Manager. 3. Responsible for opening and closing the building; 4. Ensure staff read and follow the Town’s Aquatic Manual guidelines; 5. Assist and/or lead staff training sessions in June, July & August; 6. Assist in creating staff schedules for instruction, life guarding, trainings & kayak programs; 7. Ensure patron-to-lifeguard ratios are maintained and beach area is monitored effectively

while on duty. 8. Conduct periodic inventory of equipment & make recommendations for the purchase of new

equipment; 9. Make recommendations to Recreation Coordinator for improvements to program delivery; 10. Provide instruction on Red Cross & Lifesaving Society Swim programs to a variety of ages; 11. May be required to examine Bronze Medallion & Bronze Cross classes; 12. Occasionally process registrations for waterfront programs; 13. Take lead role in the planning, organization and promotion of a water safety campaign and

assist with the coordination of the Make a Splash event; 14. Prepare program reports and statistics at end of program season; 15. Provide daily maintenance and clean-up of beach and park area; 16. Provide general supervision of park area and encourage proper behaviour of public; 17. Provide information to the public on programs and events; 18. Monitor washrooms to ensure proper conduct and discourage acts of vandalism; 19. Report illegal behaviour (alcohol consumption, vandalism) to O.P.P., Recreation

Coordinator and Manager. 20. Ensure incident reports are completed by staff and forward to Community Recreation

Coordinator or Manager of Recreation Services; 21. Complete staff & program evaluations in collaboration with the Recreation Coordinator; 22. Prepare and submit a final Waterfront Program Report with recommendations in

consultation with Assistant Lead hand and Instructor/Guards. 23. Kayaks excursions: assist in promotion of program, ensure safety of participants and staff 24. Waterfront Staff is required to assist in the installation of the docks and buoy lines in June –

dates to be determined

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

• Ensure qualifications of all staff are current with copies provided to the Community Recreation Coordinator prior to the first day of training.

• Demonstrate professional behaviour at all times. • Act as positive role models for and project a positive image to the children, their parents,

fellow staff and the general public • Responsible for own transportation to and from work locations.

EDUCATION, SKILLS and EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS: MANDATORY • Current Red Cross & Lifesaving Society Water Safety Instructor Certification • Current Lifesaving Society National Lifeguard Service (NLS) Pool Certification • Current Lifesaving Society National Lifeguard Service (NLS) Waterfront Certification • Lifesaving Society Aquatic Supervisor Training • Current Standard First Aid and CPR • WHMIS 2015 Certification is required for all new hires and must be presented at time of hire. • Working Knowledge/Understanding of the Occupational Health & Safety Act and Regulations • Valid G license with clean drivers abstract satisfactory to corporation (Use of vehicle)
