Human Resources Management Creation date: 06/13/17 Job Description Update date: EHS Supervisor Job Description Employee Health and Safety (EHS) Supervisor SUMMARY This position, which reports to the Director of Operations, is responsible for all aspects of Vermont Creamery strategic and tactical execution of health/safety, environmental, sustainability (B-Corp compliance), and ammonia safety programs. It provides leadership and administration to the overall Vermont Creamery EHS program by implementing the Corporate EHS Standards. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Safety: Ensures Regulatory Compliance with all Federal & State OSHA, state, and local health/safety regulations. Directs and responsible for compliance with company EHS standards: training, risk reduction, compliance, and employee engagement. Accountable for developing and promoting a Safety Leadership Culture across Vermont Creamery. This position will develop an annual plan, achieving consensus on the plan and objectives with the leadership team, and monitoring the progress of the plan against objectives. Completes and/or approves all required regulatory and company safety reporting documents. Perform hazard and risk asessments, assist the plant and operations management teams in the development and execution of action plans for the improvement of safety performance, effectively develop, utilize and monitor site safety teams and resources and keep supervisory/management personnel apprised to eliminate hazardous conditions and unsafe practices. Leads all aspects of the safety function including compliance initiatives (Federal and State OSHA/EPA), training development, risk assessment, reporting, and the development, delivery, and maintenance of training programs reinforcing safety culture that promotes an injury free workplace. Additional responsibilities include developing, align, and implement proactive programs that reduce risk profile. Ensure that Vermont Creamery has a system in place to identify, prioritize, and implement EHS initiatives including behavioral safety, ergonomics, training, resource conservation and capital projects. This individual will work closely with EHS and other corporate staff to implement the Company’s initiatives and to lead change in EHS programs. Sustainability & B-Corp Certification Ensure adherence to all B-Corp values, including sustainability and the proactive management of energy, water, and by-products. In collaboration with Vermont Creamery Social Mission Coordinator, establish waste and energy reduction goals, run educational programs and propose creative ways to engage staff. Suggest to Senior Leadership Team investments program that reduces company environmental impacts and coordinate the projects and execution. Environmental Ensures Regulatory Compliance with all Federal EPA, state and local environmental regulations including the completion/oversight of all permit required air, water, wastewater, stormwater, landspreading, Form R, Tier II, Pollution Prevention Plan, solid/hazardous waste and RMP reports. Ensures that Vermont Creamery meets all Corporate Environmental Standards.

Job Description Employee Health and Safety (EHS) Supervisor

Local ammonia refrigeration requirements. • Position will manage all aspects and drive improved results and compliance of health/safety, environmental, sustainability, and

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE • An advanced degree in engineering/science is preferred. Successful candidate will have a strong technical

EPA/energy/OSHA/Safety/Industrial Hygiene/property protection and worker compensation background and a history of producing results. At least five years of experience managing large plant EHS programs or multiple site EHS programs is required.

Competencies-Skills (Required): • Proficient in safety program management. • Excellent organizational, communication, interpersonal and team interaction skills. • Highly motivated, self-directed and a self-starter. • Ability to lift up to 15 pounds. • Able to write reports, business correspondence and standard operating procedures (SOP). PHYSICAL DEMANDS While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; balance; stoop; climb up and down stairs and ladders; talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. WORK ENVIRONMENT While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time. The temperature of the work environment can fluctuate due to occasional temperatures from cold/cool to warm/hot. The noise level in the work environment is occasionally loud and will require ear plugs. While working in the manufacturing areas, the incumbent is required to wear personal protective equipment. EXEMPTION STATUS Exempt.
