Accountant SPECIFIC JOB DESCRIPTION This position will be responsible for performing the accounting functions of the organization. FELLOWSHIP’S MISSION STATEMENT Fellowship is a Gospel-centered, multiethnic, intergenerational church that exists to make disciples. SPECIFIC POSITION OBJECTIVES:
1. Provides timely and complete monthly financial reporting and other reports to Director of Business for analysis as needed
2. Ensures that payables and recurring expenses are paid in a timely manner and proper backup and authorization is received
3. Manages and ensures prompt collection of accounts receivable 4. Completes bank, investment account and credit card reconciliations for month-
end close 5. Maintains an orderly accounting filing system 6. Works with Director of Business in maintaining chart of accounts 7. Works with Director of Business in preparing departmental budgets 8. Calculates variances from the budget and reports significant issues to Director
of Business 9. Maintains a system of controls over accounting transactions 10. Works with Director of Business to coordinate the provision of information to
external auditors / CPA for audit purposes 11. Maintains a documented system of accounting policies and procedures 12. Is point of contact with church bank to provide/obtain pertinent information 13. Works with Facilities Manager to ensure timely receipt and payment of rent and other facility expenses 14. These duties are not exclusive and with consideration of the job requirements and employee’s skills, this job
description can be added to or taken away from at the discretion of the employee’s immediate supervisor.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS • Maintains a personal devotion to and relationship with Jesus Christ that is reflected in lifestyle • Active membership and regular attendance at Fellowship or another Bible-believing church • Signs the Fellowship Statement of Faith • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related field required • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in general accounting/finance, including in-depth understanding of the month-end
close process • Previous accounting experience at a church preferred but not required • Excellent knowledge of standard accounting practices and GAAP • Excellent organizational and time management skills • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; detail oriented
