About the University About the University About the University About the University ---- gekjk fo'ofo|ky;

A University acts like a Buena Vista of knowledge along with young

minds traverse in their search for ultimate truths. It is a huge reservoir of

intellectual energy that contains the potential to foster momentous changes in

the form and substance of human civilization and its evolution.

One of the greatest visionaries and philosophers of our times who

shaped modern India had recommended the establishment of a federal

University at Jabalpur in 1956. This vision was brought to fruition on the 9th

of February 1959 when Rani Durgavati Vishwavidyalya (formerly

University of Jabalpur) came into existence.

The establishment of the University was a sequel to a long and

illustrious tradition of traditional as well as modern wisdom starting from

Jaabaali ‘Rishi to great modern philosophers and litterateurs like Acharya

Rajneesh “Osho’.

Shrimati Subhadra Kumari Chauhan, Maharshi Mahesh Yogi, Shri

Han Shankar Parsai, Dr. Rameshwar Shukla ‘Anchal’ and Shri Panna Lal

Shrivastava ‘Noor’ with such a lineage for its academic backdrop. The

University in its current incarnation attracts talent from all over Central

India. The National Accreditation Council (NAAC) awarded the University

B” rating in 2002 - the highest in the region.

The University caters to a very large catchment area spread across

several districts of Madhya Pradesh with a population of 1 crore

approximately Nestling in bosom of lush green Sita Pahadi, the University

has one of the finest educational institution in the state. In such a beautiful

setting, both teachers and students like to spend most of their time letting

their creative ventures prosper.

In addition to the University Teaching Departments, the University

comprises of 151 colleges. The Dean, College Development Council

coordinates and monitors the academic activities of the affiliated and

autonomous colleges. There are 13 fully functional faculties in the

University.

The University Teaching Departments provide quality teaching and

research facilities in the following disciplines:
