1. Disclaimer: First of all thank you for using Jiyi product; this is not a toy, please read the manual carefully before you use this product. Upon Reading this, you’re deemed to agree with the disclaimer, this products is not suitable for people aged below 18 years old. This Entry-level flight controller is specially designed by Jiyi for Multicopter hobbyists, under the normal electric supply and un-tempted condition, this controller can satisfy the leisure use, FPV, Aerial photography use. Jiyi is aiming for high quality reliable and stable product. Meanwhile, as a safety measure, it is strictly advisable to remove the propeller during the configuration, ensure the wiring connection and electric supply are in place, and stay away from crowd or any fragile and dangerous goods during the flight. If any of below reason (not limited to below reason) occur during the use of our products, Jiyi shall not be liable for any special or consequential damages that result from the use of the products, even if Jiyi has been advised of the possibility of such damages. 4.2 flight controller installation.

In order to get the excellent flying, Install the P2 flight controller to the centre gravity of the multicopter, ensure the flight controller is install horizontally on flat surface, the arrow shown should pointed to the head direction of the multicopter. The flight controller has built-in anti shock; you only need to apply the 3M double sided-tape. Precaution: a. Do not install the P2 flight controller to any aircraft which wheelbase is more than 750mm; b. If you install any FPV transmitter, please keep it away from flight controller.

4.3 GPS installation. Install the GPS/Compass module, ensure the GPS/Compass module is installed horizontally on the GPS Stand, arrow pointed to the head direction of the multicopter. Ensure the module is install away from motor and ESC.

Set your Ail, Ele, Rudd and throttle at your remote controller.

> The arrow direction should face the head direction of multicopter. > ensure the flight controller is installed in flat and horizontally.

>GPS/ Compass module, stay away from strong magnetic field >place the arrow direction to the head direction of the multicopter. >Suggest to use the GPS mounting holder & ensure the levelling,

6. Configuration Preparation

6.1 Configuration Software Installation

Logon to Jiyi official Website www.jiyiuav.com to download and install the driver and configuration software; unzip the file to your specific destination, open the folder “JIYI Product”, execute the programme “JIYIP2Assistant_SetUp_English.exe”. Connect the flight controller with computer using the USB cable, open the control panel – Device Manager, there should shown JIYIP2Flight Controller with “!” mark, right click the device, select “update driver”. Go to the driver folder; click next to complete the installation. At the same time, the device manager shall be able to identify the JIYI P2 Flight Controller, with the configuration software and driver installation is completed.

6.2 User interface

After the installation, click on P2 configuration software to enter the configuration interface, please note that the indicator at Top left

Pls wait for 15 seconds after you connect the flight controller and computer by USB, then Click on top left “Connect”, green indicator shall light up and show Jiyi P2 Flight Controller upon successful connection.

6.3 Remote controller calibration

First, select your Frame type, click “save” to save. Upon complete this step, click on

“Radio Controller” Type to enter into RC Calibrate function. After above step, select

the relevant receiver type and click “calibration”;

Adjust the throttle lever forward & backward to confirm the CH3 direction

(forward/reverse); adjust the aileron lever left & right to confirm the CH1 direction

(forward/reverse)

Adjust the elevator lever forward & backward to confirm the CH2 direction

(forward/reverse); adjust the Rudder lever left and right to confirm the CH4

direction (forward/reverse)

Switching the flight mode switch CH5 (3 step switch) on & off to confirm the flight

mode, headless mode and GPS mode position;

Adjust the flight mode switch CH6 (two step switch) on & off to confirm the normal

flight mode and “one button home mode” switch position.

User who use PPM, S-BUS receiver need to confirm whether CH7 can be used for

mode switching.

After that click “calibrate”, adjust all controller lever set to default position (centre)

and throttle set to minimum and click “calibrate” to get the calibration results

Click “calibrate” to complete the calibration

PS: When you click the READ, it would show the default value

Caution: you must calibrate the remote control for the first time use or after

changing the radio controller.

6.4 Accelerometer calibration:

Reminder: User must perform the calibration before every time use. If you

experience below condition, you need to recalibrate the Accelerometer sensor.

a.) During the Hovering flight mode, the aircraft tilting during take off

b.) Drifting occurs in hovering flight mode, i.e. the aircraft doesn’t fly in straight lines

Accelerometer calibration method:

Suggest to perform the calibration in indoor, first place your aircraft facing front,

then click “Start”, and then place the aircraft face up, left, right, front, back & facing

down. Total 6 surface of calibration. Suggest to follow the below photo for the

calibration, the red arrow direction represent the flight controller top surface.

Caution: in order to get the best calibration results. Every direction calibration must

be levelling, during the calibration, if any surface is not in level position (vertically &

horizontally), you need to perform the calibration again.

6.5 Battery Setting

Jiyi P2 flight controller monitor the battery voltage using the power module, equipped with the low voltage protection, you can select the auto-return home or only trigger alarm. There is two level of Low voltage warning siren which can be set. If you choose only alarm mode, during the first level alarm the LED will blink 3 times, the second level alarm, the LED will continuous blinking fast and the aircraft will automatically landing at original place. To avoid the battery level measurement error, you need to calibrate your battery voltage during the first use, using the battery checker to change the actual voltage and click “calibrate”, you need to do this once only. Precautions: please set a reasonable voltage level for low voltage alarm to avoid the damages cause by the aircraft low power.

6.6 Compass calibration

Before you use the P2 flight controller, you have to connect GPS/Compass. Prior to

you first flight, you must calibrate the compass. During the calibration, please stay

away from any possibility of strong magnetic field interference such as parking

structures and steel reinforcement underground area. Please select place where no

high rise building & magnet field area (preferable empty & spacious open area).

Before the calibration, make sure the GPS/Compass is installed on the GPS holder,

the arrow direction should follow the arrow direction shown on the flight controller.

Method:

JiYi P2 flight controller Compass calibration method is easy, first, before disarm the

flight controller, change the radio controller mode (flight mode switch CH6) to “one

key go home”, at the same time

Adjust your remote controller Throttle to minimum & Rudder to left, Aileron to left,

Elevator to highest.

For US mode controller: – as shown in pic 1(Left lever: lowest left) (right Level: top

left)

For Japanese Mode Controller: as shown in pic 2 (Left Level: top left) (right lever:

lowest left)

Wait for 2 seconds, the red LED will light continuously (means entering Compass

calibration mode). After that follow by picture 3 for the calibration, P2 flight

controller takes approximate 2 minutes of calibration data collection. When the red

LED change from continuous light to slow blinking, and calibration is completed.

Caution: GPS/Compass device is sensitive to ambient environment, in order to get

the best flight experience, it is advisable to calibrate the compass every time you

changed the flight location.

6.6 Firmware upgrade In order to get the best flying experience, Jiyi will release the latest firware from time to time, please update the latest firmware timely. The firmware upgrade guide as below: logon to Jiyi official website (www.jiyiuav.com), download the latest firmware from the download section, click on “Firmware upgrade”, click on “select file”, select the downloaded latest firmware, click on “Write”, after this, disconnect the flight controller and reconnect it back. Flight controller shall identify the latest firmware and update automatically.

6.7 Stability sensitivity setting

To pursue the stability and reliability, you can adjust parameter in Gain. Under gain, you can adjust the rolling, tilting and yaw. The adjustable range 1-10, the factory mode’s parameter is suitable to rotor base aircraft 450mm. if you aircraft frame bigger than 450mm and the aircraft is swinging, you need to adjust the roll sensitivity and tilt sensitivity to higher value. If the aircraft is shaking when pitching, you need to adjust for higher tilting value on pitch.

7. Flight mode

7.1 Disarm & Arm After completed the calibration, click on “self-diagnosis”, if no further error notification, you may proceed for disarm. If any error message shown, you need to re-calibrate it before you’re able to disarm. No matter left handed throttle or right handed Throttle, switch the mode switch to Hovering mode or GPS mode, keeping the aircraft static, adjust the remote controller lever as shown in pic 1 for at least 3 seconds to disarm. Adjust the controller lever as shown in picture 2 for 3 seconds to arm it.

No matter is in Hovering mode or GPS mode, if the throttle lever is in minimum

position for 3 seconds or longer, p2 flight controller will automatically locked

Caution: After the aircraft landed, please arm the aircraft to prevent the unintentionally touch on throttle lever which can caused serious injuries.

7.2 Attitude Mode

Switch the remote controller CH5 to Hovering mode, disarm the aircraft, and increase the throttle to 50% or the aircraft lift up the ground (depend on your throttle setting), the aircraft should be take off by now. Thanks to advance algorithm of P2 Flight controller, during the indoor or breezeless flight you can get the stable hovering flight or excellent fixed height flying.

7.3 GPS Flight mode 7.3.1 GPS Mode

Choose an area where do not have any high-rise building and no magnetic interference environment, connect with power, red LED light shall blink twice to entering in to satellite search mode, warm up around 1 minute, when the red LED light change from blink twice to slow blinking, the satellite searching is completed and the position locating is successful. Switch the remote control CH5 flight mode to GPS mode position (user can also switch to this mode during the flight), disarm your aircraft, increase the throttle to 50% and above level to make the aircraft lifting from the ground, aircraft shall be lifting vertically. After the aircraft reached the desired altitude, decrease the throttle to 50% level, the aircraft shall hovering at the height automatically, if the user adjust the aileron and elevation, the aircraft will keep flying at the height. Precaution: P2 Flight controller working under GPS flight mode is involved with Compass as assist, you must stay away from strong magnetic field; while the GPS module is also involved in this mode, you need to choose a good GPS, and Satellite signal area (shall stay away from high rise building)

7.3.2 GPS one button home

P2 flight controller will memorize the location where the user disarm the aircraft as home location, switch your remote controller to CH6 ( One button home mode), the aircraft shall automatically lifting to 20 meter height, keep the previous flying course, during the return flight, only the flying course can be control. Once the aircraft reach the home point, it will hover at the air for 2 seconds before descending slowly. During this time, user still can interfere with the remote control (but the throttle is being barred), this is to

ease user to look for a suitable place for landing. After the aircradt landed, the motor shall spin slowly and stop. User shall put the throttle t minimum level, the flight controller will automatically arm after 3 seconds.

Precaution: To prevent from any injury, when the aircraft is near to human, it is advisable not to switch to one button home mode. 7.4 Intelligent Orientation Control During the flight, switch the remote controller CH5 to Intelligent Orientation Control, and front direction is always the direction of nose when the aircraft take off. Detail as below: Red arrow represent the aircraft head direction, the green arrow represent the aircraft intelligence recorder direction.

7.5 Lost control protection P2 Flight controller support lost control, first of all your receiver must support FS setting, after that you need to adjust the CH5 setting in the configuration software for the receiver lost control output value. Adjust the CH5 remote control transmitter green progress bar to “lost control”, after that follow the Remote control instruction manual, do the proper setting on receiver lost control FS, then adjust the CH5 remote control back to the original range. After that switch off the remote control, the green progress bar shall be showing “Lost Control”, with this, the FS setting is successfully configured. With the good GPS satellite signal, even if the receiver lost the signal, the P2 Controller shall activate the auto pilot and return to home location (even in hovering mode or GPS mode). The auto pilot home will be same with the one button home mode.

Along the return flight, the remote control shall be restart and the flight mode switch shall be switching on-off from Hovering mode and GPS mode, at the same time you should ensure the throttle lever is not at the lowest level in order to regain control over the aircraft again. If the remote control receiver encounter signal lost under the bad GPS signal, the aircraft shall landing at original ground.

7.6Sports Mode

P2 flight controller built in with two type of operation mode –gentle mode and sport mode, the default mode is gentle mode. Only PPM and S-BUS receiver are able to switch between this two modes, CH7 will be used as the switch for gentle and sport mode. During the flight, you can switch between two modes in order to have different flying pleasure. Precaution: it is advisable that beginner user shall not change to the sport mode during the flight, shall only switch to this mode once the user flying skill become mature.
