based multi-processor systems

(Final Year Minor Project) Design and development of a multi-MicroBlaze system on Xilinx

Virtex-5 FPGA, Benchmarking the system using EEMBC’s CoreMark, Implementation of DSP algorithms like radix-2 FFT on the system, Profiling and optimizing the application and

Performance evaluation in terms of the number of clock cycles, speedup, FPGA resource utilization; October 2009 (team of 2)

National ROBOCON India 2009

(Research) A national robotic contest played among 52 colleges of India. It involves

electronic and mechanical design of a system of robots programmed for qualities such as cooperation above and beyond the speed, power and precision demanded of conventional

robots. I represented Nirma University in ABU ROBOCON – India 2009 held at Ballewadi

Sports Complex, Pune; November 2008-March 2009 (team of 17)

G.O.A.L.

(Development) A robot developed to move colored balls into opponent's goal post with the

help of an overhead camera. The input video is continually analyzed using MATLAB and appropriate commands are transmitted via a wireless ASK transmitter. The navigator robot

plays the game with the help of ASK commands. It involves image filters, morphological

operations and shape detection; December 2008-January 2009 (team of 3)

Micromouse

(Development) An autonomous machine developed to get to the center of an unknown maze

in the shortest possible time. The hardware comprises of an AVR microcontroller, stepper

motors, motor drivers, and custom-made sensors. The firmware includes a PID-based steering

method and an implementation of the Bellman Modified Floodfill algorithm for maze-solving; December 2008-January 2009 (team of 3)

M-it

(Commercial) A generic SMS-based inquiry and complaint management system for municipal corporations, dam control systems as well as for commercial purposes like malls,

schools, newspapers etc. The SMS server is implemented in VB. It includes interfacing with a

GSM modem, an auto-spell-correct method using Levenshtein Distance and database management. The inquiry server is also embedded in an AVR microcontroller; September

2008-October 2008 (team of 2)

Asia-Pacific ABU ROBOCON 2008 – Represented INDIA

(Research) A robotic contest played among the countries of the Asia-Pacific region. It

involved electronic and mechanical design of a system of robots programmed for fast and

accurate pick and place operations in a way similar to the human pyramids formed in the traditional festival of Janmashtami. I represented India and got the Mabuchi Motor Award in

ABU ROBOCON 2008 held at MAEER’s MIT, Pune; May 2008-August 2008 (team of 7)

Chessie 2.0

(Development) A Chess playing software developed in Visual Basic 6.0. The individual chess-board positions are sorted using a static position evaluation function, which is the AI

(Artificial Intelligence) of the software. The chess moves are generated by a Minimax game tree which uses the branch-and-bound Alpha-Beta pruning technique. It includes further

optimizations in the form of a Singular Extension Heuristic and Quiescence Search; January

2008-March 2008 (team of 3)

Chessie 1.0

(Development) A GUI prepared in C for two-player games of Chess. Majority of the
