Processes and requirements
Some car manufacturers (OEM) order individual parts within a sequenced JIT call
(JIS call)
Multiple parts have to be delivered as one assembled part (part group/module)
The Part Group Determination is used to combine related parts into the different
part groups
Some examples for part groups are:
Left/right exterior mirror
Left/right front seat, back seat
Door panels front right, front left, back right, back left
A-, B-. C-, D-pillar left and right respectively
Etc.

Motivation
The SAP ERP Standard provides a number of functions to perform a Part Group
Determination
These standard functions require that a part is always assigned to the same part
group
If that is no longer guaranteed you have to define your own logic for the Part
Group Determination
Some examples for complex logics are:
Seat heater module is ordered with quantity 2 and has to be split to the two front seats
Window control element for all four windows always has to be mounted into the door
panel of the driver side (depending on the driver side: front left or front right door)
Speakers ordered with quantity 4 have to be split to all four door panels. If the same
speakers are ordered with quantity 2 they have to be split to the front door panels

Concept and approach
Design Workshop to define the precise requirements
Customer call behavior
Definition of the internal part groups
Definition of the Part Group Determination logic
Based on the design workshop results, costs are estimated and the Part Group
Determination is implemented
Possible realization scenarios
Configurable material
Material classification
Z-Tables
Etc.
Especially for the delivery to multiple sequence customers with different Part
Group Determination logics we recommend to separate the different logics per
JIT customer by using the ACS Exit Control Framework

Possible scenario (1)

based on this classification.

Possible scenario (2)
Assignment of call components via cross-plant configurable material (according to
Standard).
Components that cannot be assigned are allocated to neutral materials. The determination
of the part group material takes place in the User-Exit according to additional logics.

Result of the Part Group Determination
Call components are assigned to the part group according to the defined logics. In this
