Jičín

Welcome to the historical town of Jičín, which has about 17 thousand inhabitants and is an administrative, cultural and tourist center of this region. In its close proximity the Prachov rocks can be found. They are the gate to a beautiful part of Bohemia called the Czech paradise.

The generous structural activity of Albrecht of Valdštejn was started by the chateau reconstruction in 1607-08. It was rebuilt in renaissance style, but then after a great fire it was rebuilt again, but in classical style.

The Valdice gate is a symbol of Jičín. It was built as a part of city fortification in 1568 – 1578. Today it is used as a 52 meters high view tower.

The Loggia and Libosad park are connected with Jičín by a 2 kilometers long linden tree alley. It is one of the most important baroque buildings in the Czech Republic. Every year a student festival Majáles is held there.

It is a baroque church, first of its kind in Bohemia. It is situated in the corner of Valdštejn square, next to the Valdice gate.

Every year, the festival “Jičín - the town of fairy tales”, is started with a traditional mask parade. It lasts for one week and there are plenty of activities not only for children, but also for adults.

Near the town of Jičín there are the Prachov rocks. The gate to the Czech paradise. It is a rock town situated north-westerly from Jičín, which is full of beautiful nature.
