PRODUCT DESCRIPTIONJewel Quartz is a cementitious coating designed for use over existing interior tile. Jewel Quartz is a blend of select silica aggregates and mineral additives with coloured quartz that produces a stone-hard cast of thin section concrete. Jewel Quartz can be textured, and patterned to replicate a wide variety of finishes such as stone, brick, tile, slate, and more.

STORAGE & MIXINGStore Jewel Quartz in a dry place away from direct sunlight. Employ temporary protection measures as needed. Jewel Quartz cannot be permitted to freeze once it has been mixed with water.

For the first (leveling) coat and second coat (texturing) coat gradually add one bag of Jewel Quartz dry mix 4.5L (150 oz) of Jewel Quartz Binder. Using slow mixing action so as not to induce air into the product, mix until a uniform, workable consistency is attained. Let the mixture stand for five minutes, then remix and use. Pot life is forty-five minutes. Discard any material that has begun to stiffen. Accelerators and other additives are prohibited and will void warranty. Discard any material that has begun to stiffen.

APPLICATION & COVERAGEUsing a stainless steel trowel, apply the first coat of Jewel Quartz (for tile substrates, we recommend embedding a reinforcing fibre glass mesh in the first coat). Allow a minimum of ten hours for the first coat to set prior to applying the second coat. Using a stainless steel trowel, apply the coat of Jewel Quartz. Holding the trowel flat, drag it across the freshly applied second coat to create texture. Clean tools with water before material dries. Allow 2 to 4 hours for the second coat to set prior to cutting out the pattern or shaving the surface. Do not allow Jewel Quartz to completely dry prior to cutting or shaving.

To shave the Jewel Quartz, hold the trowel on its edge and drag it, or hold it flat and float the surface. Using a grouting tool cut out the desired pattern. Allow a minimum of 24 hours for Jewel Quartz to dry prior to applying sealer. Make sure the surface is clean and dry prior to applying sealer. Contact DuROCK for appropriate sealer and application procedure. Jewel Quartz can be applied in coats ranging from 1/16 to ½ in. (1.6 to 13 mm). When mixed with Jewel Quartz Binder, one 50 lb (22.7 kg) bag of Jewel Quartz covers approximately 45 sq ft (4.2 sq m) at 3/16 inch (4.8 mm) thickness.
