YOUR FINANCIAL PROTECTIONOur monthly magazine presents to you a selection of the best offers we can find both as a retail agent acting on behalf of the cruiselines and those we have put together as a tour operator.

Offers on pages 15 / 25 / 27 / 30 are full packages offered by the cruise lines, for which we act as an agent, and their terms and conditions of booking apply. We offer protection under our ABTA Bond (J1693) in respect of our solvency.

Other offers include packages we have put together, for which we hold an ATOL licence No: 6153 for your protection. Jetline Travel’s terms and conditions of booking apply.

In some cases we have found the most convenient and best priced flight arrangements are with low cost airlines such as Easyjet, BMI Baby, Flybe, and Jet 2. In these instances we have illustrated the total cost of these holidays to include the current flight cost, but you would book the flight directly with the flight operator, and their terms and conditions of booking would apply. For your convenience, and with your consent, we can book direct flights on your behalf using your credit or debit card details. The airfare element of these offers cannot be covered by our ATOL protection. Such offers appear on pages 20 & 32.

Meet the Jetline teamMeeT The TeaM

In this month’s edition we are pleased to introduce another two valued members of our team – Rachel Gregory and Simon Worsfold. Below you can find out a little more about them.

Hi Im Rachel, I work in customer services. I have been at Jetline cruise for nearly a year, after my big move from the Isle of Wight.

I have worked in the travel industry for many years, from hotels to holiday camps. With duties ranging from front desk to even dressing up as a rabbit, don’t ask!

I have never previously worked in cruise before, but I feel very lucky to work in an industry I’ve come to love.

Im always here waiting to answer your questions and help with any queries that may make your up coming holiday more enjoyable, or even if you have already travelled and wish to share what a wonderful time you have had.

I look forward to speaking to you.

Rachel

Hello and Welcome. My name is Simon and I have been with the company now for 3 months. I have been selling bespoke cruises and holidays for the past 9 years.

My experiences have been gained form selling cruises and bespoke holidays with previous cruise selling agents and company’s that have sold holidays over the teletext holidays media. My expertise is in Far East Asia like Thailand, Middle East like Dubai and Northern America like Las Vegas, New York and San Francisco. This is a job I love and enjoy, this job gives myself the satisfaction of making peoples dreams come true, either first time cruisers or honeymooners.

If you require something out of the norm I am here with help and advice.

Feel free to pick up the phone and give me a call.

P&O Cruises Introduces Pathfinder Ship Adonia, With EX UK And Mediterranean Fly Cruising, Exclusively For Adults

P&O Cruises will offer fly-cruise holidays in the Mediterranean in 2011. The development comes with

the introduction of 710 passenger ship Adonia, joining the fleet in May 2011. Full details of Adonia will be released in the P&O Cruises 2011/12 brochure, and her cruises can be booked from Tuesday April 27, 2010. P&O Cruises, managing director, Carol Marlow, said: “Adonia is an exciting introduction to our fleet and one that enables us to diversify the range of cruise destinations that we offer”.

“She is a small ship and her size enables her to visit off the beaten track destinations and lesser known ports of call. Adonia will be our pathfinder ship, but she will, of course offer our tried and tested P&O Cruises experience, “We know that many of our passengers prefer a cruise experience exclusively for adults and also the intimate atmosphere and sense of camaraderie that comes with a smaller ship. Adonia will fit the bill perfectly and we are confident that she is going to be a much-loved addition to the P&O Cruises fleet.” Adonia’s main restaurant will be the Pacific dining room and there will be two further Select dining venues*, Italian ‘Sorrento’ and a steakhouse named the Ocean Grill. There will also be a buffet restaurant, with some al fresco dining and a barbecue area out on the Lido deck. For entertainment, Adonia will have eight bars, including P&O Cruises signature ‘Crow’s Nest’ observation lounge; Andersons, the familiar club-style lounge bar; and Raffles, which will also offer a coffee shop menu throughout the day with pastries, chocolates, hot drinks and afternoon tea. Adonia will also feature The Curzon Lounge, where passengers can enjoy a drink with a sea view during the day, and by night enjoy a performance by the Headliners theatre company, concerts, dancing, or after dinner speakers. There will be the signature Oasis Spa, offering a range of treatments and therapies including Aromasoul massages and body scrubs, Aromatherapy, and reflexology. There is also a well equipped gym with panoramic sea views. Adonia’s well appointed cabins will feature Egyptian cotton linen, tea and coffee making facilities so popular with British passengers, and over 75% of the cabins will have a private balcony. “She will celebrate all those things our regular passengers love about cruising with us – a classic dance floor, Crow’s Nest observation lounge, formal nights, classical music recitals, guest speakers, silver service dining and a dedicated card room. Loyal cruisers and those new to cruising alike will be charmed by the refined P&O Cruises experience Adonia

will offer.” Adonia’s cruises will feature ‘Spotlight’ – a new programme of events for passengers wanting to learn a skill, develop their knowledge or find hobbies. Talks and interactive workshops will be offered on subjects as such as history, current affairs, the natural world, dance, art and gastronomy. All are delivered by experts in their field, some including familiar TV personalities. The ship will be based in Southampton between May and October 2011, offering cruises from seven to 26 nights in duration to the Mediterranean and Northern Europe. The itineraries will feature overnight calls in Athens and St. Petersburg, as well as a round Britain cruise. In October, Adonia will reposition to the Mediterranean and offer six open-jaw Central and Eastern Mediterranean fly-cruises, departing from Savona, Athens, Trieste and Naples. Itinerary highlights include a Christmas and New Year cruise to the Holy Land. Prices on Adonia start from £1,924** for the 16 night Western Mediterranean maiden cruise from Southampton in May 2011, £899 for a seven night ex-Southampton Norwegian Fjords cruise, and £1,399 cruise only, for a 14 night Central Mediterranean holiday from Trieste to Athens in December 2011. A holiday package add-on with flights is available for £99. “We are also delighted to be introducing a number of new destinations for our passengers next year, as well as a number not visited since the days of P&O Cruises Victoria.” continued Marlow.

New ports of call for Adonia are: Bourgas (Bulgaria), Flekkefjord (Norway), Foynes (Ireland), Jersey (UK), Koper (Slovenia), Liverpool (UK), Sassnitz (Germany), Savona (Italy), Zadar (Croatia).

Ports of call that are being reintroduced – in some instances after more than 30 years - on Adonia’s itineraries, are: Alta (Norway), Antalya (Turkey), Ashdod (Israel), Bodo (Norway), Bodrum (Turkey), Catania (Italy), Gythion (Greece), Haifa (Israel), Huelva (Spain), Izmir (Turkey), Patmos (Greece), Port Mahon (Spain), Salerno (Italy), Samos (Greece), Tangiers (Morocco), Trieste (Italy), Volos (Greece), Waterford (Ireland).

Early bird savings are available for bookings made by 30 June 2010. Double savings are offered on balcony cabins, with savings up to £800 per couple for a 14 night cruise, and also on all cabin grades on two of Adonia’s fly-cruise holidays in October 2011 and January 2012. Free car parking is available on all of Adonia’s cruises from Southampton, and on board spending money of between £50 and £250 per cabin is also available (amount depending on duration).

“We are also delighted to be

introducing a number of new

destinations for our passengers

next year, as well as a number

not visited since the days of

P&O Cruises Victoria.”

P&O Adonia is sister ship to Royal Princess (above)

Visit the Opera House, explore Hobart’s penal colonies, or immerse yourself in New Zealand’s Maori

culture. Australia and New Zealand cruises present a bold array of activities for nature enthusiasts,

history buffs and beach bums alike.

Australia and New Zealand are about as different as two neighbouring countries can be. Starting with geography, Australia is one of the flattest land masses on the planet, its highest point rising 7,310 feet above sea level. New Zealand is extremely mountainous, with Mount Cook towering over 12,000 feet. Australia’s land features are best characterized as gentle and regular, with sloping plains and, with the exception of Sydney Harbour, a smooth coastline with few inlets or bays.

In contrast, New Zealand’s shoreline, like Norway’s, is deeply incised with steep fjords, and in contrast with its neighbor’s flat plains and deserts, its terrain tends to be rugged and precipitous, punctuated by permanent glaciers and white water rivers. New Zealand’s wintry alpine heights call Alaska to mind. Australia’s Great Barrier Reef, its most famous natural treasure, is built from the same Pacific hard corals as the reefs surrounding the islands of Hawaii.

In terms of wildlife, there couldn’t be more difference. Australia is home to hundreds of species that exist nowhere else in the world. Some, like the duck-billed platypus, are so bizarre that initial descriptions from

explorers were dismissed as delusions or fabrications. Conversely, New Zealand has a tiny handful of indigenous species, including only one class of mammals (bats) and a short list of reptiles and birds, including the flightless kiwi, which lends its name to New Zealand’s human denizens.

Who Goes? It’s worth noting that Australia/New Zealand, which has long been considered an “exotic” destination for cruise travellers - one which tended to draw older vessels on super-long itineraries that were usually out of range (price- and length-wise) for most of us - is getting some serious new action.

For instance, Princess Cruises has really committed to a presence in the Southern Hemisphere’s summer - assigning its newest, splashiest and biggest ships like Sun Princess. Royal Caribbean International has also dipped a proverbial toe in the water with Rhapsody of the Seas offering itineraries in the forthcoming season as has P&O Cruises with Oriana and Cunard with Queen Elizabeth.

transportation: bus, taxi, ferry, water taxi, hydrofoil and rail. All that and you can walk to enough sights to fill a week, much less a port call. Besides the Sydney Opera House and the Harbour Bridge (if you wish to climb it, bypass that Bloody Mary; they require a breathalyzer test before letting you make the trek), take a stroll over to The Rocks. This used to be the hardy seamen’s hangout but is now your destination for the typical Aussie pub experience, rubbing elbows with your typical freewheeling locals without getting too far from trendy T-shirt, jewelry and souvenir shops.

Maximize your exposure to the wide range of unusual Aussie wildlife cuddling kangaroos and koalas at the Taronga Zoo, or any of the open wild animal preserves that proliferate in Sydney’s environs.

Melbourne, AustrAliAA fabulous thriving city, Melbourne, founded in the mid-19th century, reflects both a Western heritage (primarily in its Victorian architecture) and an Eastern sensibility (the city is rife with lush gardens and parks). Melbourne, which is actually the country’s business center, is currently in the midst of a redevelopment boom which is vastly improving the city. Plus, it’s got lots of great ethnic neighborhoods to explore. It’s a fabulous blend of old and traditional and new and hip.

HobArt, tAsMAniA, AustrAliAAustralia’s second oldest city (after Sydney) offers a glimpse into the country’s past of penal colonies and rough-and-tumble seaports.

burnie, tAsMAniA, AustrAliAWhile Burnie is a sweet town -- and a great place to pick up essentials, from books to wine -- its real appeal as a cruise port is the pastoral countryside around it, where you’ll find everything from underground caves to a fabulous farm for animals rescued from the wild.

DuneDin, new ZeAlAnDThis is the closest you’ll get to Scotland in the Pacific. If you can’t possibly return from the South Pacific without buying a kilt or a locally fermented single malt whisky, you’ve come to the right place. Shore excursions will take you close enough to Antarctica to visit with penguins or far enough inland to explore one of New Zealand’s precipitous gorges.

tHe AustrAliA/new ZeAlAnD Cruise seAsonBoth countries claim temperate or sub-tropical climates, with the seasons reversed from the pattern in the Northern hemisphere. So, winter in the UK is summer there. Australia’s position closer to the equator puts it at the outer edge of typhoons, the Southern Hemisphere’s equivalent of our hurricanes. Typhoon season runs from December 1 - May 30, affecting ports of call such as Brisbane and Cairns more than Sydney (but note: waters there and on New Zealand’s west coast were somewhat rough during our January voyage). New Zealand, lying south of the cyclone belt, is not as affected, but the warning above still applies.

Summer temperatures differ by about 10 degrees, with Australia’s high-temp averages in the low to mid 80s. Statistically it would seem that both countries experience the same rainfall patterns, with rainy-region annual totals in the 100-inch range and dry-region totals about half that; however, meteorologists characterize New Zealand as the greener and rainier climate, which visitors empirically confirm.

itinerAry PlAnningYou’d think that a trip to the Great Barrier Reef would be one of those “greatest hits” stops, but it’s not -- so if this major natural wonder is an important part of your Australia experience, you need to check itineraries carefully. Typically, only luxury and expedition lines call at ports in the general vicinity.

Those who would never consider a trip to Australia without seeing the Great Barrier Reef should consider itineraries on ships that sail between Australia and Asia instead of New Zealand. Many of these sailings offer access to the Reef through port calls at Cairns, Brisbane or the Whitsunday Islands. The eco-oriented lines are another good choice; Orion, for instance, offers Cairns-based voyages.

Lastly, no matter the line on which you sail, consider extending your trip to visit places not covered by the itinerary. All the lines offer some sort of pre- or post-cruise experience. Frankly, it’s easy enough to get around both countries on your own too, and both are worth more in-depth travel.

In a port-by-port analysis based on some popular ports, here’s a list of the best choices ashore:

syDney, AustrAliAFrom the Circular Quay (where the ship docks), all of Sydney is open to you. This is also the terminus or access point for at least six different forms of

CHristCHurCH, new ZeAlAnDNo city in New Zealand better exemplifies its British roots than here in Christchurch, which will definitely remind you of a small English city -- Oxford, perhaps -- in a small way. There are lovely botanical gardens, a vibrant downtown and a wonderful arts corridor (that conveniently links the city centre with the gardens). And its relative proximity to the Antarctic has made it a hub for museums that focus on that vast icy wonderland.

wellington, new ZeAlAnDWellington, New Zealand’s cosmopolitan capital city, is located at the southern tip of the North Island and at the physical center of the country. The city is nestled between the harbor and steep, forest-clad hills -- and is wonderfully walkable. The revamped waterfront area leads from the cruise dock at the eastern edge of town to the must-see Te Papa museum in the west. A stroll along the quay is filled with surprises. There’s a grassy playground for kids, large-scale sculptures and fun wooden walkways. Cross the street, and you’ll have your choice of cafes and shops.

AuCklAnD, new ZeAlAnDYour jumping-off point for immersing yourself in Maori culture, going sailing, or visiting nearby caves and geysers, Auckland is also a great spot from which to explore its outlying islands (especially Waiheke), gorgeous craggy Pacific coast, charming small towns (Devonport), or urban neighborhoods (Parnell and Ponsonby). And don’t miss the vistas from the iconic Sky Tower (you can even bungee jump off the thing).

bAy of islAnDs, new ZeAlAnDIf experiencing New Zealand’s natural treasures, forests and water-intensive activities is important to you, this may be the highlight of your entire cruise. This is prime sailing territory, so look for the chance to participate in guided sailing excursions. If your ship offers charter fishing trips, and you’re so inclined, this is one of the top deep-sea fishing locations on the planet. Forest and shoreline hiking will expose you both to evidence of the first Maori communities encountered by Europeans and to what was once the booming, swashbuckling whaling and maritime centre of life in New Zealand.

DiningThe three-level formal dining room is one of the most stunning in moderately priced lines: a magnificent space linked by a grand staircase, dramatic fluted, gold-leaf columns, golden velvet curtains and a ceiling dome with gold sky burst rays, stars and fibre optics. Each of the three levels is themed to a legendary explorer: Columbus, Da Gama and Magellan, with mosaics on the walls celebrating their journeys.

Explorer of the Seas now offers Royal Caribbean’s flexible My Time Dining program at dinnertime. Passengers can choose between assigned early (6pm) or late (8.30pm) dining with pre-determined tablemates, or opt for flexible dining, in which you pick a preferred mealtime

(anytime between 6 and 9.30pm), but can change your reservations on a daily basis.

The primo dining experience onboard occurs in the intimate, 88-seat Euro-Italian Portofino Restaurant. Menu items include risotto, three types of pasta, Caprese salad and other Italian favorites) and service and cuisine are exceptional! Not to be missed, either, is Johnny Rocket’s, a 50’s-style dining venue where you can enjoy impromptu waiting staff song-and-dance performances with your burgers and onion rings!

Spa & Fitness Voyager-class ships - and Explorer of the Seas is no exception - are famous for their “get out there”

Royal Caribbean Explorer of the Seas

There’s never been a cruise ship like this. Enjoy one-of-a-kind features like an ice skating rink, the Royal Promenade and a rock-climbing wall. There was only one way to accommodate all of these innovative ideas, Royal Caribbean International built a bigger cruise ship! The 138,000-ton, 3,114-guest Explorer of the Seas offers more space for every guest – plus enhanced staterooms, expanded dining options and exceptional recreational facilities. This cruise ship is so high-tech, it even features the University of Miami Ocean Lab, a state-of-the-art oceanographic and atmospheric science laboratory.

philosophy, when it comes to onboard recreation. As such, a huge area is dedicated to the pursuit of athleticism featuring the rock-climbing wall rising 200 feet above the sea, along with a golf simulator, full-court basketball/volleyball, a rollerblading rink and miniature golf. The ship also offers a handful of ice-skating opportunities on sea days at Studio B. There is a jogging track on Deck 12 (five times around equals a mile), and a dive and snorkel shop on Deck 11, where there are additional fees for classes and gear.

The ship’s main pool area features two adjacent pools, two jumbo-sized and two regular whirlpools, and stadium lounge seating. The solarium pool is an adults-only area which boasts a Spanish theme with bronze bullfighters and a bull, mosaics and fountains and a retractable glass roof which makes it possible to enjoy its pool and two whirlpools rain or shine.

With more than 15,000 square feet of workout, aerobics and spa facilities, the Ship Shape Spa and Fitness Centre is among the largest afloat. The oceanview gym with stereo and TV monitors offers 20 treadmills, 18 Reebok strength units, 14 recumbent and upright cycles, eight steppers, six Body Trecs and free weights

with multiple benches. There’s also a group exercise room for fitness classes (some, like spinning

and yoga, charge a $10 fee), an indoor thalassotherapy pool (free of charge)

and men’s and women’s locker rooms with a steam room and a sauna.

The Steiner-operated spa has 14 multi-purpose treatment rooms,

a hair salon and relaxation area. It offers an excellent range of treatments (massages,

facials, Ionithermie Algae Detox). Service in the spa is outstanding and the quality of the treatments

themselves is very high.

Entertainment Where do you even begin? It can be very hard to relax on Explorer of the Seas - even on sea days - because of the head-spinning array of activities that run from dawn to dusk and beyond! The ship’s entertainment staff offer an intriguing blend of options, and everyone, from the most traditional passenger to the completely contemporary traveller, will find something to do.

During the day, you’ll find plenty of traditional cruise activities, such as bingo, dance lessons, horse racing, art auctions, seminars (on everything from healthy eating to gemstones), bridge pairing, arts and crafts workshops, and films in the tiny cinema on Deck 2. More unusual activities include rock-climbing wall competitions and “Ice Planet” - the ship’s ice skating show in Studio B, complete with falling “snow.” Throughout the day and night, there’s often some type of performance along the Promenade, such as a parade or performances by comedians or musicians. Royal Caribbean does not offer much in the way of onboard enrichment.

At night, the Palace, the main show lounge, is the place to see Broadway-style revues. The four-deck-high,

1,350-seat theatre has an opera-house ambiance and excellent sightlines. The Casino Royale beckons with a Vegas/rock ‘n’ roll theme and 300 slots, 10 blackjack tables, three Caribbean Stud tables, three roulette wheels and a craps table. Other options include the Schooner Bar for late evening sing-alongs round the piano; Maharaja’s for live music in an India-themed secondary lounge with impressive elephant sculptures and a very refined interior decor; Weekend Warrior for watching sports via satellite on multiple televisions; and The Chamber, a fun nightclub designed to resemble a Gothic castle, with stone columns and arches and a dance floor flanked by chrome suits of armor.

Public Rooms Quite pleasing to the eye, this ship is pleasantly decorated in warm tones with plenty of maple panelling and features an impressive $11 million art collection. The Royal Promenade is the heart of the vessel where you feel like you are in an upscale mall as you walk this longer-than-a-football-field and wider-than-three-lanes-of-traffic boulevard anchored by two atria that are marvels of marble, trees, greenery and colossal sculptures. Diversions on the promenade include the Crown & Kettle, a traditional English Pub; a 24-hour cafe for pizza and pastries; Ben & Jerry’s ice cream; Weekend Warrior sports bar; and shops selling everything from ship’s logo items to designer merchandise by Versace, Bulgari and Lladro.

While the Royal Promenade is the place to be for a street-fair atmosphere, there are many intimate spaces for quiet times onboard including the Aquarium Bar, with beautiful tanks holding 56 tons of saltwater and hundreds of tropical fish; a clubby cigar lounge; the nautical-inspired Schooner Bar; a well-stocked library; the Card Room; the Champagne Bar; and the Skylight Wedding Chapel’. And don’t forget to stay in touch with your nearest and dearest back home at the Internet Centre, royalcaribbeanonline, which is open 24 hours a day.

7Dear Readers

I stood at Southampton with my partner Claire for our first cruise onboard the P&O Ventura. Immediately I was hypnotised by the sheer size and elegance of Ventura as she sparkled in the sun.

Much to the amusement of passengers I failed to notice stationary cases and took a tumble. I replied to the amused crowd that I was a passenger and not part of the ship entertainment! My balance restored we moved onto our floating hotel for our two week Mediterranean cruise.

On board I was so overwhelmed with the facilities, service and general ambience – that I believed I was in heaven. This belief was reinforced when as a precaution for the Bay of Biscay I fitted my sea bands and could not find my pulse! Visiting a multitude of countries and then returning to our floating base, with the anticipation of culinary delights later that evening was the perfect holiday. During the holiday Claire celebrated her birthday while in Gibraltar. It was a nice touch for her to meet some distant ancestors of mine now living on the rock!

One of my favourite pastimes on the ship was at the end of the evening standing on our balcony listening to the calming sound of the sea while anticipating exploring the next destination.

So cruising is fantastic and I look forward to booking another one in 2010. Destination currently unknown!

Celebrity Constellation – The Baltic

My husband said he hated large ships so it was my litte secret that I booked us onto Constellation. He looked aghast as we approached her at Dover Docks but was quickly appeased by the wonderful reception – it was as if we were the oly passengers! A lovely member of the cabin team was there to greet us, take our hand baggage and lead us to the beautiful stateroom complete with balcony. Lots of goodies in the shower room, a huge and very comfy bed, more ice than in the Arctic and a constant supply of smiles from our steward.

For a large ship we never had to wait for anything – no long lines in the buffet restaurant, no problem with finding empty loungers by the pool and always treated as if we were special by staff who seemed to recognize us – amazing!

Fabulous and varies food including a ‘health’ bar with low calorie snacks by the indoor (very warm and free – unlike many other Celebrity ships) pool and unlimited soft fruit drinks from machines.

I can’t say anything bad about this huge and elegant ship.

Travel in style and make the journey across the Atlantic one of the most pleasurable travel experiences possible. The great thing about these holidays is that they combine sophistication, absolute relaxation and escapism with the high energy frenzy of New York – mixing both shopping and sightseeing together. Tran Atlantic Queen Mary 2 cruises have gained in popularity over the last year and are selling fast. People are recognising that these cruises on the Queen Mary 2 are a special treat - be it for a family celebration, as part of a longer holiday or for a very stylish 2nd holiday of the year.

THE SHOPPING: Stock up on cut price jeans at the Levis store opposite Bloomingdales & look out for superb home ware stores such as Crate & Barrel. Tiffany’s, Abercrombie & Fitch and Banana Republic on 5th Ave must be on any shopping enthusiasts must do list. For the Budget conscious try out Old Navy (the discount arm of GAP) on 34th St – then nip across the road to Macy’s Dept Store – which is great for lunch!

THE SIGHTSEEING: The following are Must Do: Central Park, the magnificent interior of Grand Central station, the Flatiron building, the Ground Zero site and Wall St. Visit Battery Park at the Southern tip of Manhattan and take some photos of the Statue of Liberty. Take the subway over to Brooklyn and walk back to Manhattan across the Brooklyn Bridge. Definitely visit the Empire State Building at sunset for magnificent views across the city.

EASTbOuNd: Fly direct to New York for a 2 night hotel stay - with no concerns about checking in and tiresome overnight flights home - your stay in New York is enhanced. Join the Queen Mary 2 on a relaxing 7 night cruise back to Southampton. Plus the are no concerns about buying bulky items and luggage weight restrictions as there is no flight home!

WESTbOuNd: Depart from Southampton for 6 nights (7 nights in 2011) uninterrupted voyage to New York. An early morning arrival in tune with US time gives you a full day to explore the city on your first day in New York. Stay for 2 nights then fly direct home overnight. If you opt for the Westbound itinerary you will have about half a day more time than on an Eastbound itinerary.

NO FLYING: Combine both itineraries together giving you the day to shop and sightsee in New York with out flying.

Standby for the launch of the second Signature Class ship of the Holland America Line Fleet – the Nieuw Amsterdam. Having had the pleasure of travelling on the first of this class of ship (Holland America Line’s Eurodam) we were impressed with the layout, style, teak decks and the 2 very different pool areas. These ships are spacious, sophisticated and have some of the best spas at sea with a wonderful hydro therapy pool and thermal suite relaxation lounge.

This brand new Signature class ship will have those little touches that enhance your cruising experience such as full divan beds, fluffy bathrobes and daily fruit baskets. Also standard Balcony staterooms have bathtubs! Definitely visit the fabulous Pinnacle Grill which is well worth the few extra pounds cover charge. Other dining options include the main dining room where you can opt for “As You Wish” dining, The Lido for daytime buffets or informal waiter service dining at night. We must also mention the Tamarind restaurant at the top of the ship with its adjacent lounge and panoramic views. Other facilities include: a theatre, casino, numerous bars, Crows Nest, Northern Lights, Retreat cabana area, Explorations Café, kids clubs and more.

11-18 night fly-cruises aboard Explorer of the Seas

These Caribbean cruises mix the excitement, shopping and fast pace of New York with the relaxation of a Caribbean cruise to some stunning beaches such as Boatyard Beach on Barbados or magens Bay in St Thomas. Perhaps take a break before Christmas for some exotic Christmas shopping and a Suntan ready for the festive season or celebrate Christmas and New Year in the sunshine with a margarita listening to Jingle Bells!

THE SHIP: We have experienced the Explorer of the Seas first hand and we were very impressed. The 3 tiered main restaurant takes your breath away - as does the Royal Promenade (shopping style mall) where the Free coffee shop and Pizzeria is a great place to relax and watch the world go by. The range of facilities on board is excellent, the décor is tasteful plus there are a huge number of bars including the Crown and Kettle British pub and the very stylish Schooner Bar. The fitness spa with its oversized whirl pool and the solarium are welcome adults only retreats and the ice skating rink is well worth a visit. Of course for die hard Royal Caribbean fans the Windjammer self service restaurant is on board providing an almost constant supply of tempting treats.

It seems the brand new Queen Elizabeth (which launches in october this year) is one of the most sought after ships around - as many think of her ship of being the 3rd in line after the legendary QE2 and the original Queen Elizabeth from 1945. Avid Cunard followers and indeed classic cruise enthusiasts are keen to sail on the Queen Elizabeth during her first season to be part of this Queen Elizabeth ocean liner heritage.

Queen Elizabeth (sister ship to the Queen Victoria) will recall the rich heritage of the first Cunarders to bear the name with details and features from her predecessors Queen Elizabeth and QE2. Her Art Deco flourishes will echo the legendary golden age of ocean travel and the activities she offers onboard such as traditional supper clubs with dancing and a Cunard Classic Film Club, will captivate all on board. Her opulent public rooms include a soaring and graceful Grand Lobby stretching over 3 decks with stunning curved staircases, and a double height Queens Room with specially commissioned stained glass panels, ornate balconies and an intricate wooden dance floor.

We have travelled to the Nile several times to check out over 120 vessels in a bid to select the most luxurious ships we could find. We feel that these two ships - M/S Sunray and M/S Darakum are the best on the Nile. They are the highest quality and are in keeping with 5 star Deluxe standards that one would expect in Europe. Unfortunately standards in Egypt are much lower than those in Europe and most ships which are supposedly 5 star by Egyptian standards are in reality 3 star by European standards and a big disappointment. Remember you only get what you pay for and in this case you will be receiving the highest quality to exceed expectations.

Our ships have 5 decks with comfortable river view ensuite staterooms, a maginificent restaurant (full board), luxurious lounge with bar and disco, mini gym, swimming pool, sun deck, laundry and valet.
