Emissions from cement kilns
Wheelabrator introduced its first fabric filterin 1913 to trap dust particles from foundry casting-cleaning operations. Today, Wheelabrator JET III®
Pulse Jet fabric filter systems operate in virtuallyevery industry.
Our Solutions Become StandardsBy working closely with our customers to help
solve their problems, we have pioneered manypulse jet filtration innovations that have achieveda number of significant breakthroughs and indus-trial application milestones.
Over the years, JET III collectors have madeimportant contributions to controlling emissionsfor the iron and steel, non-ferrous, coal-firedutility, hazardous waste and trash-to-energyindustries.
JET III Pulse Jet technology offers a variety ofdesigns, both custom and pre-engineered, to meetspecific needs. Each system is designed for cost-effective, reliable performance. They have beendeveloped to clean emissions from industrialprocesses ranging from 500 to 1,000,000 ACFM.
Emissions from a pulverized coal boiler.
Gaseous and fluoride emissions from an aluminumreduction plant.
Primary and secondary emissions from an AOD vessel
Emissions from a municipal solid waste facility.
Ongoing JET III Research andDevelopment
Wheelabrator’s technical innovation andextensive knowledge are the result of our con-tinuing commitment to product research anddevelopment.
One Source for Clean Air TechnologyBecause Wheelabrator is a single-source
supplier for all aspects of our JET III fabric filtersystems, we can offer our customers the righttechnology for their application. This broad rangeof capabilities includes process analysis, system
design, erection, start-up, and complete aftermar-ket services with comprehensive technical sup-port, service, operator training and replacementparts for our equipment.
For more than 85 years, Wheelabrator hasbeen a leader in fabric filter technology.

Pulse Jet Dust Collectors
— Die-formed cups for added strength— Positive seal against dust leakage— Fast bag attachment without tools— Simple, one-step bagging— Improves clean-side work area
JET III uses the Wheelabrator drawn-cup tubesheet. The tube sheet is seal-welded into thehousing to effect a positive seal.
The JET III tube sheet features patentedWheelabrator “snap-ring” bag sealing and offers afast, one-man, one-step process for bag installation. Our tube sheet, acting as a natural bagging fixture, allows cage insertion or removaldirectly from the tube sheet and bags.
Tube Sheet and Bag Attachment
— Designed and tested to reduce compressed airconsumption
— Venturi self-aligns for easy installation andefficient pulse cleaning
— Simple interlock for rapid assembly— Quality bag support cages
The high-gain throat of the JET III venturi iscapable of cleaning more surface area of filtermedia with less compressed air. This provideseffective cleaning of JET III 6-inch diameter bagsup to16-feet long with the collector on stream.
The venturi snap locks on the bag supportcage, which is then simply inserted into an in-stalled bag in the tubesheet.

— Simple design uses fewer parts— Easy to maintain— Reduces energy costs
JET III pulse cleaning hardware is designed toclean with minimum air consumption for maxi-mum energy savings. More filter cloth area iscleaned with each pulse. Field tested on toughindustrial applications, the JET III cleaning systemcontributes to prolonging filter bag life.
HeaderThe compressed air header is designed for
space saving, positive alignment and convenientmounting of air valves. Header assemblies aresectionalized to permit local isolation for mainte-nance without shutting down the entire system. The system requires a low line pressure for energyconservation.
Pulse Cleaning System
Double Diaphragm Air ValveWheelabrator double diaphragm air valves
provide the power for cleaning up to 18 bags perrow. Fewer valves per square foot of cloth meanless maintenance and fewer parts.
ManifoldExtensive research and development by
Wheelabrator has resulted in a unique, energy-efficient blow pipe for pulse cleaning. The1-1/2 inch diameter manifold pipes are drilledwith offset and variable size holes to ensuremaximum even flow through all venturis. The fitof the manifold with the plenum is positive tomaintain alignment. For bag inspection and/orremoval, the manifold can be removed with aminimum of effort and without special tools.

ORIFICE POSITION
Benefits— Variable diameter holes in manifold pipe
equalizes the cleaning effectiveness foreach bag in a row.
— Offset holes ensure air jet is loaded incenter throat section of venturis.
— Maximizes compressed air utilization.— Improved cleaning of all bags, lowering
pressure drop and improving bag life withless air consumption.
The JET III cleaning system has reserve powerthat can be utilized during upset conditions, suchas higher dust loads. This reserve power alsoreduces the cleaning demand during normaloperation.
The proprietary cleaning system of the JET IIIhas been employed and proven on a multitude ofindustrial applications.
On-Line Cleaning
The JET III utilizes an engineereddiffusion-type baffle that reduces particu-late load to the filter bags by deflection, impaction and downward flow into thehopper. Unlike other designs, the diffu-sion baffle is not affected by centrifugalforces developed in inlet elbows andturbulence with angular entries. TheJET III baffle has the advantage ofoperating the unit at higher filter rateswith heavier dust loading, thus minimiz-ing capital costs, space and components.
