JESUS MAFA is the response of West African Christians in Cameroon to New Testament lectionary readings. Each reading was adapted for dramatic interpretation by the community members. Photos of their interpretations were then transcribed into paintings.

A note from Pastor Emma: The ancient words of the Apostles’ Creed, dating back to the 4th century, have been recited by the Church across the globe. Maybe you’ve wondered why we so frequently use words that were written so long ago. Or maybe you’re bothered by the words’ exclusivity. The creed does indeed reflect a world that favored men, as does much of church history. The Apostles’ Creed carries value for me when I remember that, as a young woman, I have joined the long history of church leadership. It is meaningful to me that, while it took time, the Church did open its arms to me. So as we, a congregation that welcomes all people, recite these words again, let us remember that we are part of something much bigger and much older than ourselves and that the Church is always being reformed.
God has entrusted us with so much: life, talents, family, and also this church. Commitment Sunday is when we get real about how grateful we are for these gifts and how serious we are about participating in God’s ongoing work. Our 2019 budget is especially crucial because it will be something prospective pastors evaluate as they consider coming to join MPC’s leadership. So, do your part! In the pew rack, you’ll find pledge cards to complete with prayerful faith and generous spirit! If you have already sent in your pledge (thank you!), please bring forward an “I pledged” sheet.
