First Reading: 2 Kings 4:42-44 A man brought twenty loaves of bread to Elisha the prophet, who told his servant to distribute it to the people. The servant asked how he could offer twenty loaves to one hundred people. Elisha replied that God had said, “They shall eat and there shall be some le� over.” A�er all the people had eaten, there was bread le� over as God had said. Second Reading: Ephesians 4:1-6 Paul implores the Ephesians to live a life worthy of their calling by preserving unity among all of Christ’s followers. He reminds them that there is one body, one Spirit, and one God who works through all people. Gospel: John 6:1-15 Jesus fed a crowd of five thousand people with five loaves of bread and a couple of dried fish. A�er everyone present had enough to eat, twelve baskets of le�over bread were collected. Jesus then realized the people would want to make him king so he fled alone.

Primera Lectura: 2 Reyes 4:42-44 Un hombre trajo veinte panes a Eliseo, quien ordenó a su sirviente distribuirlas entre la gente. El sirviente preguntó cómo podía distribuir veinte panes entre cien personas. Eliseo replicó que Dios había dicho “que comerán y habrá de sobra”. Después de que la gente comió, había pan de sobra como Dios había dicho. “I... urge you to live in a manner worthy of the call you have received, with all humility and gentleness and pa�ence, bearing with one another through love, striving to preserve the unity of the spirit through the bond of peace.” As we look around, building construc�on is booming. One gets torn down and another replaces it. May we use Paul’s virtues as the building blocks for reconstruc�ng our own spiritual lives. All of us, through bap-�sm have received a special call. We, in the words of Pope Francis, have had our own personal encounter with Him. The virtues of humility provide the founda�on to get started, as the Lord is number one in our lives and we depend totally upon Him. Gentleness assures others of a welcome into our circle of faith. Pa�ence, He tells us, is a fruit of the Spirit dwelling in us, and with the other fruits provide the direc�on we need. It is not always easy to forgive, but why hold on to something which we don’t need. A wise spiritual person taught me, ‘not forgive and forget’, but remember without bi�erness. If unity is absent, work to put it there resul�ng in peace for yourself, and for others.

Las virtudes de humildad proveen la fundación para empezar, ya que el Señor es número uno en nuestras vidas y dependemos totalmente de El. La gen�leza asegura que otros son bienvenidos a nuestro círculo de fe. La paciencia, nos dice El, es un fruto del Espíritu que habita en nosotros, y con los otros frutos provee la dirección que necesitamos. No siempre es fácil perdonar, pero ¿por qué aferrarnos siempre a algo que no nece-sitamos? Una persona sabia espiritualmente me enseñó no a “perdonar y olvidar”, sino que a recordar sin amargarse. Si la unidad está ausente, trabaje usted para restaurarla, ya que resultará en paz para usted y otros.
