My background is in anthropology, social epidemiology, and health promotion with a focus on women’s health in domestic and international settings. Three overarching aims shape my work: 1) utilizing innovative methods (e.g. concept mapping and social network analysis) to explore the mechanisms linking context influences and health; 2) engaging communities in the process of research and its translation; and 3) developing tailored interventions to address contextual influences. Much of my work focuses on addressing the intersecting epidemics of HIV/AIDS, intimate partner violence, substance use and mental health. I have a strong record of successfully conducting and disseminating research, teaching and mentoring future public health professionals, and serving the public health community.
